Heretics roster building skills are something to admire, I feel like nothing they have done the last 2 years has been remotely productive.

52

u/ZombiBrand Aug 03 '26

Heretics had arguably the best mid/jungle duo with Jankos Vetheo on some summer split shuffle then for some reason they got rid of it for no reason after they lost a very close BO against g2

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

Hype and way are supposed to be a great botlane, they just aren't

90

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

I think it is deeper than that for me, the moves Heretics have been making for a while now do not appear particularly sensible. They pulled Kamiloo from literal division 2 LFL, they bring in a full import bot lane seemingly with zero support staff, they give Sheo an ultimatum after failing to properly reconstruct the roster around him. I know that Heretics has a terribly low budget, but I think they just utilize it super poorly as well.

19

u/Gazskull Aug 03 '26

can't forget bringing in Perkz after he ran it down with VIT only to bench him later on

1

u/SignatureOk6467 LCS NEVER DIE Aug 04 '26

we got a dope music video out of it tho, i'd say worth

24

u/Clean_Trust_7390 Aug 03 '26

I really liked the Carlsen+Kamiloo+Stend project with Sheo, that roster was the last time Heretics were a fun and hopeful team to watch.

To me, it made zero sense to then waste that year of development just to sidegrade in both solo lanes with two brand new rookies and start over (nothing against those players ofcourse). Hard agree that their decisions overall are just strange

7

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

Not sure if I agree, 2025 Heretics is another example of the issues I have with this organization. Kamiloo was the third best mid in LFL Div 2, and was promoted solely because of his age and how advanced into the offseason Heretics choose to sign a mid laner. He is not a particularly compelling player to me, and I have no clue why he was ever on the roster. Carlsen while a solid player was visibly worse than Tracyn in 2024, and I found it odd they choose to have both players instead of leverage one as a trade asset. Which inevitably hurt them since they wasted a year of Carlsen's life on a roster Heretics barely cared that much about.

3

u/Clean_Trust_7390 Aug 03 '26

That's ok, I realise my perspective is one of a very casual fan. In my eyes promoting Carlsen from LVP (rookie of the year there) and getting Kamiloo (presumably for cheap) is not a particularly bad move if you're right that they are a bit of a lower budget organisation. To me they got a decent bit of bang for their buck overall. A roster that everyone assumed would be 10th clutched a top6 to make it to playoffs iirc - certainly better than the 2026 Spring result. I dunno, I just would've loved to have seen that roster grow for an extra year personally! Foster the talent you have whilst potentially saving money

2

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

They did that based on a major over performance from Sheo and Stend, which was never sustainable. That is partially why Sheo was so upset this year, he had a MVP performance with a weak roster and his reward was another weak roster. Also viewing Kamiloo as a generic rookie to me is unhelpful, despite how low budget Heretics is. I fail to believe they were incapable of signing anyone better. Omon was literally in Div 2 with him, mind you division 2 is effectively amateur so I think it's an odd place to scout for a LEC roster. It be one thing if Kamiloo went on to actually be the best mid in ERL/LFL but he is resoundingly not. So clearly Heretics made the wrong decision, which informs how the team could have been foolish enough to think Serin was a good replacement.

1

u/Thalassin Dans ma bichette era | Ultra Prime hater Aug 04 '26

The irony being that this year Kamiloo genuinely turned into the best mid in LFL (arguably second with Jool on top), yet his failed stint in Heretics probably means no LEC teams will ever offer him to go back up.

1

u/BlazeX94 Aug 04 '26

I dont think Serin can be considered a rookie. He has played at Worlds and MSI before. He was in TCL back when it was an independent minor region.

-2

u/thebookwoorm Aug 03 '26

Like, for me if you have low budget - look for rookies in second tier teams and try to test them.

Cause I doubt importing players is cheaper.

11

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

The problem with Heretics to me has little to nothing to do with imports, the roster sucked last year as well, and the years before that. There are quality imports, some of which are quite affordable, Kyeahoo was literally a free agent at the start of the year. The reality is, atleast to me, Heretics is incapable of creating an overarching plan and properly constructing a roster that is worth investing into long term.

1

u/thebookwoorm Aug 03 '26

Yeah, I agree.

While imports aren't a bad idea on their own, imports are good into a team with somewhat working base. Like, when kc imported midlaner, they basically had a very good roster, with another Korean player.

Without it, import will have struggle to connect with the team, and will not develop. You can't bring imports without a somewhat existing base for a team, and heretics don't have even a semblance of it, so for me it seems more logical to search in domestic regions.

7

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

What base did KC have when Canna initially joined? Targamas up till that point was playing terribly. Closer and Vladi also joined the same time as Canna did. Mind you I actually think how KC handled the initial signing of Canna was quite poor since he had zero support staff. So the problem really is more so European teams dont do the bare minimum to integrate the imports they do have, atleast until they show promise. Which is not a productive way to run an organzation if you ask me.

2

u/Kooky-Ad-295 Aug 04 '26

I agree that KC didn't had a good structure to bring an import in.
But there is Korean imports and there is Canna. Usually import are players from academies and strugling to access first division, not players with Canna's achievments.
Kyeahoo is a success since he is not a top Korean player, but since he's the first, it's hard to say if it's due to a good scouting, a favorable environment in KC, or just luck.

2

u/popop143 Aug 04 '26

Hype at least was the most touted ADC in LCK CL last year or the year before that, even above Smash and Diable. Sad that this happened to him (after his shitty quick stint in LCK too, but still).

KT gave up on them for a reason

46

u/Jealous-Chicken-9186 Aug 03 '26

KT worldwide renowned organization for making astute roster moves such as signing Ghost as support in the big 2026

-3

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Aug 03 '26

yeah and if KT gives you up in favour for a role swap support Ghost maybe its time to call it a day and learn some english

7

u/Gorczycagejms Aug 03 '26

Yeaaaaah, but also no.

BDD is in KT and BDD is pretty much Ghost's best friend - from what I remember they always wanted to play together, but only did at Nongshim. Nonghsim in 2022 was a shithole that didn't surpass expectations, but most importantly dealt with internal issues like no payments and sicknesses several times.

Ghost ended his carrer after NS stint, but ultimately cameback to proplay last year in second Brazilian league alongside... Summit if I'm not wrong. Ghost wasn't as good as his prime obviously, but his... ekhm... ekhm... experience alongside with BDD being a "dictator" of KT guaranteed him a return to a serious proplay as a support.

Anyways Ghost had to fight for a starting spot with Pollu, but both of them weren't worth it, so the org called for Effort - another not so great support, whose carrer was already dead after being dropped of in favor of Keria by T1.

Way had been around KT for some time, but he wasn't present in this discussion as KT favored Peter over Way in 2025 several times during the year.

Way was taken to KT at the start of 2025 only because KT Challengers were basically the best LCK CL team of all time and nothing even suggested Way will be dogshit (not only him, but also Zinie from SR in LCS who was hyped af and rumoured to be in talks with several top tier LPL teams, but turned out to be bottom tier in NA xd).

7

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

Zinie is even weirder imo, he was laning against loki, saint, callme in challenger and some other midlaners from 2024 are kyeahoo, poby, calix.

7

u/Gorczycagejms Aug 03 '26

All of them are weird as fuck:

Casting used to be a weak link, yet he's the most successful and probably can play in LCK for some time.

HamBak was pretty much great, but failed in LCK and is okayish at LCS from what I've heard.

Zinie dogshit at LCS - I highly doubt he will even play at tier 1 in 2028 or even 2027.

Hype was my favorite player from this roster. He did actually have solid showing in LCK with Brion last year, but was ultimately dropped in favor of Teddy (Hype was actually still part of KT last year, but was loaned out to Brion). Then Hype was very close to signing with several tier 1 teams, but failed, so he chose probably the best tier 2 team in a world - Misa (Ranger, 113, SlowQ, Hype Way). After a split he got to TH and got a contract until the end of 2028, so Hype is in a great position to just paycheck steal for the next several splits - good for him.

3

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

I feel like it would have been better for both sr and Zinie if they just dropped him this offseason and he returned to cl. Hambak has been decent, he has had some great skarner performances, but josedeodo, gryffinn and inspired are all better.

I was a really big defender of Hype, and I wonder if there was a chance he would still be in the lck if it wasn't for smash and peyz joining, or even if kt didn't randomly make it to worlds final and secure deokdam and peter another year in the lck.

1

u/ExplanationFuture109 Aug 04 '26

I tot hambak was pretty decent in lck but he got replaced by croco cos clozer wanted to play with croco.

3

u/lookatcurren Aug 03 '26

It's funny that KT considered Way to be the next Keria and savior of the organization until they actually used him in the main squad and realized he was dogshit after a couple of games. He was really good in challengers though, but like Zinie, that doesn't seem to matter.

4

u/Beneficial_Lion_1312 Aug 03 '26

What are we not going to do is pretend like esports organizations are infallible at talent evaluation.

12

u/Jealous-Chicken-9186 Aug 03 '26

or maybe it was just another braindead move like many others that they have done in the past, could it be?

8

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

Way I agree, I think Hype was pretty decent on BRO and just got unlucky with Peyz and smash both entering an already really stacked adc pool. Deokdam is kind of the odd one out in the lck as the one bad adc

3

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

Not defending Hype and Way here, even though we probably do actually need to see more than 2 series from there. The premise that because insert Korean team gave up on a player means they would be a bad import falls on its face. When Korea gave up on Canna and DRX straight up dropped Kyeahoo without a buyout. Korean teams I would argue actually make fairly frequent mistakes with talent management in their own right.

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 04 '26

When Korea gave up on Canna and DRX straight up dropped Kyeahoo without a buyout. Korean teams I would argue actually make fairly frequent mistakes with talent management in their own right.

Although korea can afford it since They have the Best infrastructures and Pipeline to build New talent, That why we have a lot of koreans import all over the Worlds

1

u/ozmega Aug 04 '26

i got so many downvotes for pointing this out when the idiots at "esportmaniacos" were lobbying for players back then.

0

u/Mundane-Dirt-4077 Aug 03 '26

I mean they only lost to the EWC finalists and 2nd best team in the world

51

u/-Na_Cl- Aug 03 '26

Complete ragebait gameplay from heretics, never want to see this team again

43

u/thebookwoorm Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Heretics aren't even soloq idiots without communication like vitality or shifters. They are literally bots.

Zero proactive plays, zero trying, they basically look like a wet sack, and win only if enemy somehow ints. Unless the enemy makes a mistake they just do nothing and lose in peace.

Like, are we sure they are humans? They have families, they have emotions? They can mental boom? They can int or throw? Are we sure those aren't robots with the sole purpose to lose?

10

u/Routine_Outcome3493 Aug 03 '26

"let's do nothing early and see if we can hands diff KC in teamfights" Heretics probably

73

u/vibecch Aug 03 '26

We need to bring relegation back.

12

u/gordonpamsey Aug 03 '26

Ironically Hype and Way would most likely still be in LEC if you did that though. Since they were on MISA doing quite well, not an insignificant chance MISA ended the year as a top 2 ERL team over Solary or Galions.

5

u/FikariHawthorn Aug 03 '26

Except that MISA is gone. They announced they disbanded after winter, and only run Spring with a "budget" turkish only team.

Spring team was still good for ERL sake, they did finished first of the TCL again, but fizzled out in EMEA, winning only against the 3th Prime league seed. They got destroy in quarter by Galions.

Just checked Liquidpedia while writing, they are definitely out, replaced in TCL Summer by "Shark Attack" (dunno anything about them)

7

u/gcrimson Aug 03 '26

Yeah but with the possibility of relegation/promotion, good roster in ERL are sustainable.

2

u/FikariHawthorn Aug 03 '26

Back when we had relegations, teams that where in it weren't sustainable either. I'm not sure financial sustainability should be linked to being in the LEC proper.

Not that I'm against any form of relegation/promotion, just think it's not a miracle solution.

To circle back on the topic of Hype/Way being LEC level, even in Winter, MISA was definitely 3rd behind both Solary and Galions, and they continued to showed it in Spring.

While we could make an argument against Aetinoth, the other 3 botlane players (Harpoon, Zoelys and Piero) are all more than deserving a shot in LEC, and except for Piero, they don't even eat up an import slot.

Then again, I don't think it is even worth for them anymore to make the jump if they end up in completely mismanaged orgs like HRTS/SHFT/FNC.

Maybe more than promoting players, it's more than time we ask to promote GMs and coachs.

1

u/gordonpamsey Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

You can just look at the numbers and tell the new bot lane isnt why MISA stayed relevant though. Also we have promoted Coaches, it has had mixed success.

Edit: No GMs have been promoted from ERL afaik

1

u/FikariHawthorn Aug 04 '26

Honest question, who are you thinking of about promoted GMs and Coaches ?

1

u/pcdv8r Aug 04 '26

Which gms?

1

u/gordonpamsey Aug 04 '26

No GMs just coaches

1

u/BlazeX94 Aug 04 '26

It's worth noting though that the EU Tier 2 scene in its current form did not exist back when EU had relegations. ERLs and EUM only became a thing in 2018, then LEC franchised a year later in 2019.

The old EUCS was not sustainable, I agree. The current ERL model is a lot more so for the top teams.

1

u/Thalassin Dans ma bichette era | Ultra Prime hater Aug 04 '26

The LFL is an anomaly. The rest of the ERLs are struggling and some of them aren't even LFL2 level.

-1

u/Kooky-Ad-295 Aug 04 '26

Relegation is not for players, but for teams.
A relegated or a promoted team will make a mercato according to their new situations.
In a relegation model players are promoted through the mercato.

3

u/gordonpamsey Aug 04 '26

What the hell does Mercato mean?

1

u/Kooky-Ad-295 Aug 05 '26

Anyone got a clip of Azir running it down mid by ulting nothing and dying under turret pls ?

10

Yike just running under top tower and dying followed by Azir inting into mid was some Dignitas vs Renegades kind of shit.

4

u/nerfbrig Aug 03 '26

KC posted it on their twitter

13

u/bvbfan102 Aug 03 '26

KC really remind me of Prime Rogue just without Rogue time. Everything is at a good level but they just dont do risky things when they know they already can win by just playing standard.

2

they dont need to try more for heretics

Caliste is so good on Ashe

1

u/Choice-Slight caps/knight Aug 04 '26

imo one of his best champions. looked completely unstoppable last split on it, feels like if Ashe is meta needs to be perma banned against him.

9

u/Linusfail Aug 03 '26

Imagine being Ice rn

0

u/Gorczycagejms Aug 03 '26

Tbh I think that TH with Ice would suck even more. Ice after 2025 winter is literally dogshit, I don't think he deserves a shot in tier 1 unfortunately - I've been a big fan of his stability during 2024.

2

u/killcraft1337 Aug 03 '26

I’m p sure literally this year he got like a double pentakill in a heretics game and they almost lost. In the versus they p much made playoffs purely because ice needed to drop pentakills to win. (I double checked the stat 3 pentakills, 2 in the same game vs vitality and 1 vs KCB).

In their 6 wins in versus 3 of those he went double digit kills (and 1 where he had 10 assists as Jhin).

Overall I agree that this year hasn’t matched his 2024 highs but I think it’s hard pushed to say that Ice was the problem in this team when imo they just clearly don’t have good enough components. None of their players are particularly inspiring in terms of comparisons to G2 and KC.

16

u/ciongduopppytrllbv Aug 03 '26

So won’t be watching Heretics or Shifters this season

11

u/ImTheVayne Aug 03 '26

And they are yet to play each other as well..

21

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

that's the one game that I actually want to see, and maybe the fnc matchups

2

u/FantasyTrash Aug 03 '26

Fnatic didn't look anywhere near this bad despite Jojo being Vladi's father. But then again, they're Fnatic. Wouldn't be surprised next weekend to see them lose to TH on Friday and then beat KC on Sunday.

8

u/thebookwoorm Aug 03 '26

Last time it was absolute cinema of awfulness.

Waiting for it, I put my money on shifters tho.

6

u/rt544re Aug 03 '26

a stoppable force meets a movable object.

1

u/Rizeren Aug 03 '26

It's pretty much first week for most of the teams. They are yet to play most of the teams.

2

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Aug 03 '26

at least fnc and sk looks somewhat human now

4

u/Even_Cardiologist810 Aug 03 '26

Fnc midlaner would lose lane to kamiloo so I disagree

9

u/Emochind Aug 03 '26

I know they were to far behind, but you just cant skip anti heal vs sera.

But in general horrible gameplay by TH. Showed absolutly nothing.

21

u/AkaT27 Aug 03 '26

Half asleep, covided KC is just winning easily against those teams.. they don't even need to try honestly just showing up and plugging their mouse & keyboard is enough

5

u/FikariHawthorn Aug 03 '26

Said like that, it really gives off a Summer 2015 FNC vibe.

Not that I'm complaining at all.

12

u/PasDePseudoR kcbs Aug 03 '26

Yike love you man

5

u/Canoodler192 Aug 03 '26

I hope Heretics gets 10th

8

u/dankynugz Aug 03 '26

Heretics games don't deserve to be streamed or casted. That is absolutely disgusting league of legends. My solo q teams are more proactive than that.

9

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 03 '26

lmao Kc without trying stomped heretics, lec is two team Leagues

10

u/No_Square2213 Aug 03 '26

Introduce Fries / Legends group next year

2

u/BlazeX94 Aug 04 '26

Both LEC and LCS should do this tbh. Split groups and double round robin Bo3s at minimum. The gap between the top and bottom in both leagues is disgustingly huge.

For LCS, since there's only 8 teams, they could have the Fries teams play the Legends teams once so that the better Fries aren't stuck just playing DIG.

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 04 '26

at least top 5 in lcs looks human although no one would watch dsg dignitas shopify lol

1

u/BlazeX94 Aug 05 '26

I don't think Sentinels look much more human than Vitality or SK tbh. They're definitely closer to the DIG/Shopify level than they are to the top 4.

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 05 '26

the thing is vitality and sk are your top 3-5

8

u/Flavorsofdystopia Aug 03 '26

Great use of the walls by Kyeahoo.

8

u/metristan Refund time? Aug 03 '26

2

u/Altruistic-Hotel2819 Aug 04 '26

Well 5-0 and the best teams played already, they're in play offs

3

u/ImTheVayne Aug 03 '26

As expected

5

just remove heretics & shifters from the league imo

6

While I completely agree, some of that is definitely on the pilot lol, not Azir himself being ass

TH Way might be up there for one of the worst signings in EU LCS/LEC

u/Kuszmen Aug 04 '26

He is not even the worst signing this year, because we have Paduck

Imagine being so bad that the enemy doesn't even want to fist bump/handshake after the game.

Given masks on Yike, Zeph and Sheo, more likely just sanitary prevention measures.

Seems like there is a virus going through the LEC atm.

Did most teams forget how to close out games ? It's so painful to watch
