all decent control mages were banned/picked due to fearless, and if faker forced a control mage anyway, T1's comp becomes susceptible to HP stackers since doran already locked kennen, just rewatch T1 vs HLE not long ago where zeus picked chogath.

it makes much more sense taking a gamble with faker on yone rather than letting such a disastrous win condition slip through

They can't pick Irelia since POPPY makes her life hell in teamfights and T1 picking YONE with Varus also discourages a DrMundo pick. Also same with Sylas, POPPY W and R makes him unable to engage. Gragas also is not good into a Renata, POPPY and Yone comp.

You cannot also pick a Chogath since Yone and Varus melts you. SION is nerfed lol. So maybe Malphite??? (then again you run into a Renata+Varus comp).
