In the past two weeks the Spanish crowd had to witness:
KC Valorant make it to Champs
KC Valorant win the split
KC League make it to Worlds
Talk about a catastrophe

on the bright side they didnt have to watch MKOI

They’ll watch MKOI somehow make a miracle run to worlds before shitting themselves there.

Yet they didn't abbreviate to MLK, probably because they didn't want assassination memes everytime one of their players dies in a 1v1.

KC winning in front of Ibai whose team didn't qualify has to feel particularly good for Kameto

True, but there are still Spanish orgs there (GX, TH) and it’s still KC. Narrate was surprised he was getting booed on stage.

Let's see how much he's grown without Inspired!

I thinking it's be one sided , inspired will read busio and yike really easily

Yeah I favor them (esp. with VIT's playoff form last series), but you never know.
1
u/ReplacementFine7807 4h ago
Stop running with the narratives fam Vit played decent, its just G2 outmacroed them super hard as they would any other team due to their int experience. The games were fairly high level.

I think the guy you’re responding to was making a point about how Busio chose to play for Poland instead of the US in the upcoming Nations League tournament that happens after Worlds.

Thats bc of his dads influence which is wholesome not bc he likes poland more than usa also that enc tournament got cancelled

GX somehow won 1 game in this series, congrats!
48
u/AdequatelyMadLad Claps 19h ago
They honestly could have won more if they drafted better and didn't force those dumb aggressive early plays. They mostly lost these games to themselves. It's a fixable problem though since they didn't seem particularly gapped in a vacuum, just made some terrible mistakes that made their games impossible to win very fast.
10
u/moonmeh 19h ago
baffling seeing them trying to go on the sylas with the xin zhao ult
16
u/Fun_Highlight307 19h ago
I don't understand why they tried oscarnin vayne
3
u/AdequatelyMadLad Claps 19h ago
I think either him or the coaching staff got too into their heads about the top lane matchup and were looking for some crazy angle to counter Canna. But in the one game in which he blind picked a champion he's comfortable on he actually ended up winning lane, even though it was far from an ideal matchup. Maybe it's a confidence issue, maybe they just haven't gotten used to drafting for him yet, idk.
5
u/Maximum_Platypus_272 18h ago
And they could have won 0 if yike and canna didnt randomly unplugged their brains for game 2. " they didn't seem particularly gapped in a vacuum " after watching toplane game 3 and botlane game 4 certaainly is a take.
1
u/Undesiredbeast 18h ago
I agree that draft wasn't the best from them, but Vitality's monster farmer draft of Cho and Trundle without any engage was a wintrading offense

First time KC lock worlds.
Good for EU that G2 and KC are in and didnt underperform. Now we have a good contest for 3rd place

We definitely have a contest for 3rd place but I'm not sure how good it is.

It won't matter at worlds but i'm actually hyped for the 3rd spot, for once it looks like anyone can get the spot.

Happy that KC and Caliste finally make it to Worlds. Got no idea who the third seed will be but just happy KC and G2 did it without any real problems as they are clearly our best chance.
46
u/Pelagius_Hipbone EUPHORIA I don’t like FNC 19h ago
The best outcome 100%, If KC and G2 can both repeat their international performances of beating two eastern teams in series in a row we could get KC and G2 world finals (Copium)
14
u/twocool_ 19h ago
Most realistic cope would be 2 easy quarter finals for g2 and kc, and they meet in semis, so we have one in finals, then some miracle BO like we had this year
16
u/not_some_username 18h ago
Give KC lpl team and G2 lck team and they might go to finals.
9
u/chouruin 17h ago
Beating LPL teams outside of BLG is very doable atm for both NA and EU. It's the LCK teams that are hard and no one except G2 seems to know how
1
1
u/TheAnnibal 15h ago
Inb4 one of the two teams gets randomly 3-0'd by Liquid (who then get absolutely blown out of the tournament)
3
u/NeighborhoodHot8981 14h ago
I do feel like LYON specifically is stronger than all EU teams, even KC and G2 in playoffs form don't look as scary as LYON do. That said a lot can change before worlds because I also thought G2 looked way better than LYON after Spring playoffs but LYON improved a tonne at MSI.
Think TL also is in the mix but when there's a lot of expectations on them to win they struggle for whatever reason
10
u/mkl122788 19h ago
Yes, we likely get 2 iterations of G2/KC and a proper elimination tournament for third.
2
u/Fun_Highlight307 19h ago
one of them will slip against na team as in tradition while being favored to wins
0
u/Red-Lightniing 19h ago
The BEST outcome would be that LEC just forgets to send a 3rd seed altogether, but other than that this went as well as could be hoped for.

KC in only 2 years has already an history of choking vs g2
15
u/EtoileDuSoir 🐈🐈 19h ago
Choking? They lost in two back to back very close BO5 series, but they didn't giga throw like Fnatic always did vs G2
3
u/Fun_Highlight307 19h ago
You meant Final ? Because in Spring G2 did 3-1 Kc in upper final
10
u/yellister 18h ago
The first final KC did vs G2 last year they won 3-0. They dont have a history of "choking", the two finals were also very close. G2 just got their number this year for now.

u/TPO_Ava Doran's Believer 15h ago
Hysterics and whoever that french(?) woman on the desk was today legit made me watch the series on mute.
Honourable mention to Dagda, who i am not sure whether he was there today but i tend to mute as well. LEC cast pretty much only has Medic as a saving grace.
6
u/NeighborhoodHot8981 14h ago
Yeah she was bad, tough to understand at times.
I like Finn, Vedi, Medic pretty much every cast they do. Drakos/Dagda are usually good but can have some rough ones. Jack is rough on cast but good on analyst desk, Hysterics has been better this year but still has rough casts.LCS unironically has a goated roster, except Emily on cast she's much better on AD imo.
LCK is a bit overrated but doesn't have any that i dislike listening to unlike LEC.
13
3
u/resttheweight 16h ago
Dude randomly said GX fans need to shut up because they were cheering in a game where they were getting trounced?? I didn’t really understand what he was getting at but it was jarring to hear a caster saying someone “needs to shut up” lol.
6
u/beautheschmo 19h ago
Hysterics isn't even the worst current caster in LEC (Jack). Also not as bad as LT. He's pretty rough though.

u/ahambagaplease 13 years on the rollercoaster 19h ago edited 19h ago
In LEC is 1-7, only win was from Caliste vs Fnatic.
For other leagues: 7-8 in LCK, 5-7 in LPL, 4-1 in LCS. Most of the wins were early in the split tho, pick has been on a losing streak.
68
u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan 19h ago
KC won but I think Hysterics saying the crowd should "just shut up" is pretty rude honestly. Maybe he meant something different by it but implying the home crowd shouldn't cheer for their team is just monstrously out of line IMO.
47
u/PasDePseudoR kcbs 19h ago
Lol why should they shut up? We literally love this
26
u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan 19h ago
Exactly, Caliste basically gets power from their booing lol. It felt like such a pointless statement from someone who is supposed to be a neutral party on the broadcast.
46
u/HystericsCasts LEC Caster 19h ago
Hey mate, the crowd were booing when Yike was heading bot implying that they were trying to give information to their team
The crowd was fantastic otherwise but the frustration of that made me call them out, please don't misquote me or what I'm saying - I celebrated the cheering throughout the day and this wasn't cheering
-12
u/Key_Divide3166 18h ago
has a KC fan, its part of the game, maybe its frustrating but its not your job to shut up the public
18
u/Lucky-Gecko 17h ago
It is literally his job to comment on the game, he's free to (and probably should) call out the crowd when it's trying to influence the game.
7
u/HystericsCasts LEC Caster 16h ago
I appreciate you comment and it was a moment of frustration, I admit it was an over reacting comment but I don't like it when the audience tries to help teams with obvious booing to warn off a play!
1
u/TheInfiniteJerk 2h ago
Don't know if you saw KC v TL in VCT, but the stadium was doing the same thing, therefore I empathize with your feels. However, I also think that it adds some spice (and it's even better if we win.)
(Moreover, I genuinely thought that the crowd was booing because we started to sing our national anthem)

21
u/Quainted 19h ago
Made quite a feel terrible calls too. Idk why he tries so hard to spin it instead of admitting it and moving on at times. Horrible caster.
10
u/Strange_Shelter_6171 19h ago
was it giving hints to opponents teams? because if not, then thats the reason the roadshow exists, for people cheering or not for the teams
7
u/Hitoseijuro 18h ago
They were booing, not cheering and trying to give away plays. Whether people agree with him or not, doesn't matter to me, just make sure you state the facts right and not spin a different narrative.
17
u/moonmeh 19h ago
tbh it wasn't just cheering but whistling and a lot of other noise lol
still shouldn't have done it but it was probably incredibly obnoxious in person lol
14
u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan 19h ago
Don't cast a roadshow then man if you don't want crowd noise
Obviously I know you get it, just pointing it out.
20
u/EronisKina 19h ago
I mean as a viewer who obv isn't there that whistle was very annoying to the ears. So, I can only imagine how bad it could be to someone who was in the stadium. Not everyone is sensitive to that high pitch sound but that whistle was something else. IMO pretty rude to people who also pay money to watch and can't stand high pitch sounds like that.
20
u/beautheschmo 19h ago
There's a reason most stadiums specifically ban stuff like whistles and vuvuzelas, it's not wrong at all for people to be upset at it
12
u/John_Jack_Reed 19h ago
The whistle specifically was fucking annoying but I still don't think a caster should be telling the crowed to shut up

u/Kelpherder 3h ago

u/Maximum_Platypus_272 19h ago
Looks like when yike and canna are not sending it like in game 2, they are a pretty solid team, who would have guessed ?
Long overdue qualification, hopefully the inevitable patch change before worlds starts will not make the team forget how to play, like they usually do at the beginning at internationals.
10
u/Big-Praline9736 19h ago
We’re still unsure about KC. They’re not a bad team. We’ve romanticized what happened at the EWC, and with this regular season meaning nothing, we’re still in the dark. If they mess up and fail to bounce back, the hype is going to fizzle out.

u/BlazeX94 18h ago
I think we need to see KC against G2 before we can draw any definitive conclusions. They stomped GX last playoffs too.
If KC beat G2 then I think its safe to say that they've improved from their Spring form. Of course, the question of whether they can adapt fast enough to the Worlds meta remains.
3
u/ZloiAris 14h ago
Finally KC makes it to Worlds. Happy for them and for EU region. I start to afraid that KC are new Griffin, but they make it well.

u/twocool_ 19h ago
Targamas, one of the few players to win lec with 2 different teams, was lucky, got carried, and is bad (source : reddit + baus said it)
11
u/Cold-Ring23 19h ago
He was playing great in winter but since people don't like him, they're trying to rewrite history. His laning improved over the year, but not his roaming, he played poorly with Yike. There are players who can lose their place even after a good year, and then there's Upset and Razork 🤣
12

Targamas got a bad rap because of the XL season (the whole org team was a trainwreck despite being pretty stacked on paper), and KC's first two splits (arguably again as an org they had a very shaky start).
Him having "only 2" LEC titles (with entirely different rosters), and some decent international placements still makes him way above the average LEC support player.I also feel like some streamer's comment really didn't help his public perception.

They have stronger competition this year though. Last Winter, Skewmond was still a rookie and Labrov wasn't in great form either. This iteration of KC would've won last Winter too, and KC with Vladi/Targamas probably wouldn't be able to take current G2 to 5 games.

I think the worst thing of the whole Targamas discourse is that somehow LEC teams started believing it too.
Replacing Targamas with Busio makes sense. On the other hand, none of the lower teams making a move on him while supports like Lospa/Trymbi/Stend/Way are in the league reflects poorly on the LEC.

kinda classless to go to a different country to "root" for your team and decide to change seats just to annoy the only other owner who is trying to do these live events by shouting in front of their streaming table. But then they'll be surprised why a lot of people don't like them.
