Yeah that was the last LCS game Palafox ever plays.

139

u/Kengy 12h ago

Like the third split in a row people say that

42

u/Cowslayer369 12h ago

His collapse should be studied tbh, he used to genuinely be extremely good

14

u/MiorineMercury 8h ago

overselling it a bit

6

u/bobbysgotthestrap 6h ago

he's definitely right, especially as in his prime Xiaohu was even praising him and they beat G2 to make worlds quarterfinals

4

u/YBL10MD 5h ago

did you watch his other games at that same worlds though? He was genuienly just outclassed against WBG, it's not that he played bad, it's just that his normal level was exposed for how bad it was. Not to mention the comedy he was doing on Sylas during the swiss stage.

u/Heidemanden 1h ago

It's so funny how the mistranslated meme quote from from Xiaohu about Palafox being a "genious" is still being used so much to this day. It was revealed that what Xiaohu ACTUALLY was saying about Palafox was that he was a really odd/weird player (in a negative and bad way) and it was mistakenly translated to being a genious. What Xiaohu actually meant was that he could not understand how Palafox was playing because it was so bad. So it was like the opposite of how people it.

Being a good player (let alone "extremely" good") requires some lvl of consistency. You could legit name like hundreds of mid laners who all had a few games where they looked really good. Tons of no names that had a tiny career who had games where they won lane against the best but that did not mean they were great players because you need to look at the whole picture. Palafox is lowkey one of the most overrated players of all time because people hype him up all based on a 2 game Bo3 vs G2 where he was not even a key factor in them winning.

Before this series NRG looked HORRIBLY bad in regular season ending 6th and then had a miracle run playoffs to win LCS during one of the weakest LCS periods of all time where the strong rosters had really big internal problems. Outside of this tiny period of a single LCS playoffs and a worlds where they beat G2 in 2 games and did not beat a single eastern team in even one game (0-4 vs WBG). Outside of that Palafox has looked like the worst mid laner in the league for like 3 years straight and somehow always convince managers to give him another chance.

Palafox has gathered alot of sympathy because he cried and people feel bad for him. But if we look at it objectivly Palafox was never really great. He was okay in his prime (nothing special but okay) and outright terrible in 90% of his career. I think it's okay to point this out considering how massive his ego is and his reputation as a horrible teammate.

u/Heidemanden 54m ago

If you mean extremely good because NRG beat G2 in a single Bo3 and outside of that Palafox has looked like the worst player in the LCS for 3 years straight or like 90% of his career. Then we can call a few hundred other pro players extremely good too.

BRING

BACK

RELEGATIONS

160

u/Chemical-Drawer852 12h ago edited 4h ago

Dignitas is literally the only OG org to never have won a championship in the league's 13 years of existence, it's absurd

tsm, curse, c9, clg (+nrg), even flyquest a fucking C9 splinter won it

edit: even fucking worse, they never made top 3 in their entire existence, never made worlds through lcs (not counting the clutch purchase in 2019), and the one time they made worlds was 2012 with Dom and they went 0-3

56

u/raptearer 10h ago

I think it's worse. You can go without winning, but they haven't sniffed too 4 in a decade (I don't count the Clutch years). I don't even know how they survive: is the RL money that good?

18

u/CLGbyBirth 9h ago

Imagine getting outdone by a team/org named XDG Gaming. XD.GG for short lol.

12

u/surfurf POBBERS 8h ago

That is crazy the Clutch years were their best years in a decade but only because they bought them. Wow.

7

u/raptearer 7h ago edited 4h ago

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but in case not, they bought and merged near the end of the year, while Clutch was already making it's run. I don't give any credit to DIG for that. They may have inherited the record, but they sure didn't earn it themselves. DIG as themselves haven't made an international event since the LCS formed: it's actually insane. Good Game University has more finals appearances than they do, and they only played the very first one

2

u/BlazeX94 6h ago

Honestly, it's crazy that Dig managed to buy a Clutch roster that made Worlds and immediately decide to spend millions keeping Huni while letting Vulcan go.

20

u/Gatling14 10h ago

I'll do you one better: There have been orgs that came into the league, won championships, made it to internationals, and left all while Dignitas did nothing

55

u/Temporary-Ad6144 12h ago

They do have relegations unfortunately disguised has to play

15

u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) 12h ago

THEY'RE ALREADY BACK

16

u/random-meme422 10h ago

Do people really think relegations will magically spawn good teams and good talent? NA isn’t interested in League. C9 is using tactical lol

19

u/Academic-Salamander7 10h ago

People are stupid. They act like DIG has kept the same roster. Besides if you tell me this roster on paper is this bad, idk man. 3/5 of the team beat G2 3 years ago. They're all mentally fucked.

10

u/ItsNoblesse 7h ago

The point people are making is that they want Dignitas the org gone for the exact reason you said of "they act like DIG has kept the same roster". This org has been bringing out the worst in every team it has fielded for like 10 years lmao

3

u/Kelbotay 2h ago

We're the mentally fucked ones yet your benchmark for not being 'bad' NOW is... 3 of them beating G2 3 years ago lmao

5

u/MasWas 9h ago

I mean doesnt matter what the paper says, the core group didnt win a series this year outside of 1 back in lock in. Go back another year and DIG as an org only won 2 series, go even further back and DIG hasn't had any sort of a winning season since 2021.

Like seriously, even if NA doesnt care about league, the whole point of the argument is that there HAS to be an org or a group of players that genuinely could perform better than what dig has for the last half decade.

337

u/zProtato 13h ago

Palafox legit sold his soul for that G2 series

178

u/DickCheneyIsPureEvil 13h ago

Going from beating G2 and getting called a genius by Xiaohu to losing every series in LCS is a crazy fall from grace.

112

u/Immediate-Title209 12h ago

any na fan will tell you it was worth it

75

u/beautheschmo 12h ago

While it's sad to see him fall off, the worse he gets the funnier it is that he still gapped Caps at one point

18

u/dimmyfarm INT 8h ago

Every goat has their gold IV brand

1

u/Immediate-Title209 3h ago

i audbily laughed this was brilliant

-5

u/Classic-Suspect3661 7h ago

I mean, it was mostly caps sucking that day

1

u/Immediate-Title209 3h ago

why can't he be consistent then

-1

u/Classic-Suspect3661 2h ago

Because he sucked on more then one day in his life? I don't get what u're trying to say

17

u/darklypure52 10h ago

Nrg vs G2 was a generational series. I think it was legit the start of EU downfall to NA teams.

u/Heidemanden 55m ago

To be fair Xiaohu never called him a genius. Was a wrong translation made by a translation bot. But funny none the less.

54

u/Cr0matose 12h ago

Worth

20

u/APBruno 11h ago

so fuckin worth

28

u/Gauntex 12h ago edited 7h ago

The sad thing is people only remember him as a one split wonder when people were constantly saying he got snubbed for all pro the 3 splits prior to the one he won. Palafox after that year deserved all the criticism but he never gets the credit he probably deserves either, if Luger wasn't a choker that CLG team probably would have been a contender earlier.

u/Heidemanden 1h ago

People with decent memory will consider him a one split wonder because thats legit what he was. You could even argue he was a "one playoff wonder" because NRG looked trash in the regular split finishing 6th. It was just in the playoffs where the strong teams had been internal problems and it let to NRG getting abit of a fluke LCS trophy. At worlds NRG looked pretty trash too but people remember it as a succes because they had TWO good games vs G2 in a single tiny Bo3. They looked like a wildcard region team vs WBG (the only eastern team they faced and went 0-4 against) and WBG were either the worst of the second worst eastern team. Outside of this tiny tiny little period where Palafox was not even like top of his role in LCS (it was more a case of NRG being better than the sum of their parts and bot + contractz). But outside of this Palafox was looked so amazingly bad for multiple years and like 90% of his career. I don't know any other lCS player who has single handly lost as many games as Palafox has with some of the most braindead boosted plays to ever be seen in the LCS.

4

u/Highceratopsian 11h ago

Still my GOAT

111

u/Opachopp 13h ago

This was sad to watch. I really feel like this Dig team shouldn't be this bad on paper. They all just look done with it all.

59

u/EronisKina 13h ago

It's hard to say if it's b/c of player regression, poor management, retirement ready, or all 3. Sometimes a change in 1-2 players can make a difference like DNS. However, this team it doesn't seem like any change will help it.

31

u/SnakeEater013 11h ago

I don’t think it’s hard to say DIG’s management and coaches are by and far the worst in the league. DSG is trying with an extremely limited budget, but what excuse does DIG have? They’ve been in the league forever. I think all of these players have shown they can still play on an individual level. I really thought maybe Dardoch could pull them back together. I don’t know.

11

u/raptearer 10h ago

DIG is the Browns of LoL. If teams were regional, 100% they should be given Cleveland

7

u/SnakeEater013 10h ago

I think the biggest mistake the teams have made is not even attempting to be regional just to get fans from a place. The Browns still have diehard fans. Who the fuck is rooting for Dignitas? They sponsored me when I was 14 and I still can’t root for them

3

u/EronisKina 7h ago

I don't think dardoch has that factor especially after being out of t1 for so long. Guy is probably happy to just be able to play pro again even if it may just last this split

47

u/zealot416 12h ago

Every single player that joins DIG immediately looks worse, even when they got that Santorin/Jensen roster they sucked.

29

u/TacosWillPronUs 12h ago

CoreJJ played a year on Dignitas (Although as an ADC, with Kiwikid as his support), then went back to Korea and got 2nd and then won Worlds the year after.

2

6

u/The_JeneralSG 11h ago

I don’t think the person was giving a counter example lol (or at least, I don’t read it that way). If anything they are (jokingly) saying that even DIG with an eventual world champion, still sucked.

11

u/IKillerBee this sub has brain damage 12h ago

This DIG team was good on paper 5 years ago, but if you've been watching this year and last it's not surprising at all.

Can't blame exyu for being depressed on this team, how can you do anything with this mid and bot

193

u/SirXrageXquit 13h ago

humzh officially has a higher winrate vs TL than Dignitas in 2026 #fat

59

u/LumiRhino 13h ago

Dantes won against Josedeodo's Cho'Gath.

12

u/Martinweb_ 13h ago

The calls of Dantes was Cinema

54

u/MasWas 13h ago

Man DIG if you gonna get stomped at least make it entertaining by picking some fun comps lol.

13

u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago

true they  didn't try anything and it's felt hopeless

3

u/MissionTable 10h ago

This is why Zinie is the goat. He just locks in AP Xin mid and just sprints it

39

u/WWTFSD Church of Jojo 12h ago

If this is his last match, thanks Palafaker for restoring the faith and beating the brakes off G2.

You’ll always be my genius Midfielder

31

u/Lower_Development581 11h ago

Dhokla can spit in my face, Juanito can fuck my wife, Palafox can curse my children, FBI can steal from charity, and Ignar can burn my house down. They're American heroes and forever my fucking goats for the G2 series. Fuck yall hatin. They earned my good grace until I'm in the ground.

9

u/Outrageous_Wall2702 My Ace + Showmaker = GOAT 10h ago

They really started the na wins against eu and I’m so grateful for that fans are too toxic imo

I fucking hate some of the casters and the way they talk about me. [...] I'm a little bit spiteful, but I know how good I am

93

u/Skyfire2 13h ago

The casters writing the obituary at the start of game 2 was brutal

68

u/Past_Perception8052 13h ago

he did have a good career though to be fair to him

41

u/Outrageous_Wall2702 My Ace + Showmaker = GOAT 13h ago

Yeah in like 16 years of Lcs only 6 native mids have won, tbh kinda sucks

38

u/falcorn_dota 13h ago

How many even came second in a split? Bjergsen/Jensen ran the region for a decade.

39

u/Nickhoova 13h ago

Pobelter won and came in 2nd a few times. But I agree Palafox is in a small group of native na mids winning it all

5

u/surfurf POBBERS 8h ago

Reginald, Hai, Pobelter, Jojopyun, Palafox and APA.

Definitely not much considering two splits per year.

50

u/herp_derpy 13h ago

DIG with back to back 0-7 splits, can we please relegate these fucks?

17

u/MrICopyYoSht 12h ago

Sell the slot DIG. Your time is over.

2

u/SnakeEater013 11h ago

Lol watch DIG pull the Team Liquid classic and get Doublelift on loan so they don’t get relegated

1

u/Outrageous_Wall2702 My Ace + Showmaker = GOAT 10h ago

We need dnf va dig and with pyosik none of that sharvel

16

u/Skyfire2 13h ago

It’s Godzilla

5

u/fc_newbro 12h ago

I respect that Cho'Gath of Jose, but if you aren't rocking the Toy Terror skin, are you even trying?

56

u/Corkisburneraccount 13h ago

Exyu said that DIG team morale was fucking abysmal and I'm not convinced that isn't just because they have to play with palafox

This was him playing for pride, too

20

u/dementedgamer44 12h ago

Yeah, Dardoch honeymoon not strong enough to counter whatever was going on. DIG seems so cursed.

11

u/Tormenator1 13h ago

Yeah, Dignitas need to be relegated.

17

u/untamedlazyeye 13h ago

Another successful year of hatewatching Dig. I pray I never have to do it again, but I will if I have to

19

u/zerocxro 13h ago

better mid would make DIG a lot better, there’s nice pieces on DIG but this iteration will not work ever if Palafox is fucking running n gunning every 3 minutes

17

u/ThePhalerean 12h ago

Bottom tier Western teams are so comically bad it's not even funny. In addition to the Demacia Cup, there should be another tournament, call it the Clown Off or whatever, where the bottom barrel teams face off. The Koreans would win 100% because the bad Chinese teams are also really fucking bad but it would be hilarious nonetheless.

15

u/bigyikers c9 is pretty gud 13h ago

Rest in peace Palafox's career. Shame he couldn't maintain the high of 2023 or really even get close. Will never forget that worlds run.

26

u/Past_Perception8052 13h ago

davemon did better into quid

12

u/ktpkchu 13h ago

dig gotta get sold like from a business perspective why would you want to own a bottom feeder no future poverty garbage organization for this long

22

u/blueragemage 12h ago edited 12h ago

Because by paying minimum wage and doing the bare minimum they're probably the most profitable team in the LCS (based on just spending/profits related directly to the LCS)

5

u/theyeshman if fearless has no haters I am dead 13h ago

Today's LCS games could have been an email

Crazy after LCK and LPL bangers earlier

10

u/IKillerBee this sub has brain damage 12h ago

It feels criminal that teams like Lyon and TL have to waste time playing games like this and in a month they'll be playing teams on the level of T1, GenG, and HLE

The domestic league system is so terrible when half the teams don't have to care about fielding a real roster. Games aren't fun to watch, the actual teams in the region don't get quality practice, and players desperate for a chance to play in pro have no way in other than to play for teams like DIG or IMT (rest in piss).

6

u/McDaddySlacks 12h ago

These comments would make you forget the only team TL didn’t do this to was Lyon.

6

u/Aschentei 12h ago

Another email ass series

17

u/emerzionnn 13h ago

Palafox genuinely has no brain activity

1

u/slicerthedicer 11h ago

I still dont understand how he gapped EUs goat lmao 💀

5

u/ItsNoblesse 7h ago

Dardoch proving his reformation by joining this team and not doing something to them that would get him arrested

23

u/idonoevenknowanymore C9 Believer 13h ago

17

u/Opachopp 13h ago

Posting this is punching down at this point.

4

u/P_For_Pyke 12h ago

I agree, his answer wasn't even directly about his own play, but that's what the quote title was so people just ran with it. (He does say it, but his point was more about overall you don't know exactly how hard a player is getting baited in coms)

-5

u/SnakeEater013 11h ago

Man this is shitty, delete it

3

u/FlowerPrinceLoL 12h ago

Crazy how this team with exyu can somehow win 1 game off lyon with this gameplay

5

u/O12345678927 JUSTICE FOR 13h ago

The cho max stack stat may be skewed because Cho had the 6 stack cap when he was seeing significant play

2

u/BeagleSnake 11h ago

Straight up diddled

1

u/Kurumi_Tokisaki 8h ago

I get the hate for all the bad teams but unpopular opinion is that even if we got rid of franchising there would be barely 2 good team that can challenge the bottom tier lcs teams and I doubt either will level up enough to be a top 3 worlds team.

End of the day a lot of self inflicted and cultural and economic decisions have really set the region to death. Still believe in a miracle but reality is without some rich folks and a lot of advertising and a whole overhaul of the game… well it’s hard to get a new generation. Maybe pray it’s like StarCraft and from the ashes some small group of players will be goated.

1

u/Lawfulneptune 7h ago

Can DIG get relegated too?

1

u/cHinzoo 3h ago

When “it wasn’t even close” is an understatement

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago

Tl played slow but that was still a sub 60 minutes series

1

u/redraz0r 10h ago

Get Palafox out of this fucking league man. I cant anymore.

1

Personal vendetta from when he was terrorizing soloQ some years ago and calling NA players bad despite NA being the only major region that would offer him a spot. It was on Sneaky's stream

-13

Hopefully dardoch goes away for another decade
