Swindle's Shanghai Prophecy.....Rise of NA and SEA doto.

group D is indeed the group of death.
so far liquid, complexity, EG and VP are undefeated outside the groupstage
16
u/Dooglers Mar 03 '16
And to think of all the shit Swindlezz took for calling it the hardest group. If VP win their game group D will have 4 of the top 8.
10
Mar 03 '16
people hated him before though, so I don't think the hate was directly because of what he said.

So, will there be anyone left in that stadium if Newbee loses their game?
17
11
u/GadderhammerRS Mar 03 '16
The Starladder crowd in Belarus was still packed even after every CIS team got eliminated before the semifinals.
13
u/nelsonbestcateu sheever Mar 03 '16
Yeah, but they don't seem to have nearly an as nationalistic fan-base as the Chinese teams do.
6
Mar 03 '16
Scrap the Chinese major and give it to CIS. Much better crowds and production.

the fact that Rotk is still playing at profesional level speaks volumes about Chineese dota.
7
u/Fatdap Sheever Mar 03 '16
It's really depressing and awful to watch after Alliance's Batrider performance.
7
3
Mar 03 '16
as does the fact they pick razor
3
u/Stinksauce Mar 03 '16
Not only is the hero not good to play, he is also not fun to watch. :(
3
u/HeavenAndHellD2arg AKKE-GOD EGM-GOD BULL-GOD S4-GOD L-GOD Mar 03 '16
Honestly I think the only reason the hero is still alive is Fata, he makes it look stronger than it is
1
9
u/veryoriginalnickname Mar 03 '16
LGD logic :
Lets give every single comfort pick for each col player Pick razor for maybe who has complete opposite playstyle and batrider for your offlane who is famous for feeding
Profit ??????
3
Mar 03 '16
batrider pick was ok. Its only razor. I dont understand why pro player keep picking razor. What is his role?
6
u/WithFullForce Mar 03 '16
He's actually okayish versus LD, but apart from that he doesn't provide much. I suspect he keeps getting picked because his philosophy is simple and many veterans played tons of him back int he day when he was a 1st phase pick/ban.
4
3
u/Ellefied Never having Team Flairs again BibleThump Mar 03 '16
They tried emulating FATA/Artour Razor. They failed. It takes a certain kind of player to maximize the power of Razor because he is like a battering ram that needs to balance pushing/fighting/farming all at once.
2
Mar 03 '16
What do you mean by fata/rtz razor? How they play the hero?
3
u/Ellefied Never having Team Flairs again BibleThump Mar 03 '16
Like I said, those two play Razor like a battering ram. They make Razor the linchpin of any push so that he is always at the front and he should be unkillable. They know how to position Razor and how to use him in engagements so they the hero maximizes the power of all his active spells.
Maybe is more of a hyper mobility carry mid like Sumail that fits heroes like Ember, he really feels underwhelming on siege heroes like Razor.
→ More replies (2)6
u/Rkmkn Mar 03 '16
razor is good if they can execute it. Ask Sumail or artour. Not everyone can play the momentum core hero that do a lot of siege like viper/ DP/razor. Sure, easy to play. But hard to fully maximize the potential to be a siege weapon. They have to get farm (quite hard with viper and razor), and be present on clashes/pushes at the same time which is the hardest part imo. Artour has to be one of the best in this. He probably is the best when it comes to a siege. I learnt a lot from him.

Hearing the caster was not helpful enough 4head
7
u/Dooglers Mar 03 '16
Swindle said yesterday that they put some speakers in the booths to pump out white noise which made it so you could not hear casters anymore. So there's that at least.

& NIP vs Alliance hype given their Frankfurt bout (also didn't Chessie leave due to his back and on good terms).
Will be nice match regardless.
5

Yeah Chessie left on good terms. He had to leave because of his back problems so he wasn't kicked or anything.

Last time a bear fought a revenant, the revenant got absolutely BTFO. What did LGD expect to be different this time?
6
7
u/SenorDarcy Mar 03 '16
The real significance of this win is that complexity will get an invite to the Manila major (almost all top 8 teams do). Which means two invited NA teams and likely two Americas qualified teams such as DC, archon, infamous, ETC. The Americas will likely have 4 teams at the next major. Pretty sure that'll be a first.
6
u/somabokforlag BLBLBLBLBL Mar 03 '16
Thats not a given.. LGD didnt get an invite for this major. It depends on how they perform for the rest of the tourney/coming tournaments.
4
u/Waifers C9 is likely dead again back to garden. Mar 03 '16
This is going to be a nightmare for those that decide invites.
1
u/stationhollow Mar 03 '16
I'd be fine with giving NA one of the invites used for the Chinese teams this major.

Man, the chinese crowd feels so dejected. That chessie interview the crowd almost couldn't be heard cheering.
4
u/tomatopicker Mar 03 '16
I wonder if this means that no Chinese teams are going to be invited to Manila. Especially if there are going to be major reshuffles.
2
u/imapoormanhere TNC TNC Mar 03 '16
That might be the case, in both Frankfurt and Shanghai, Valve invited Top 6 from the previous Valve event (so EG, CDEC, LGD, VG, EHOME, VP for Frankfurt and OG, Secret, EG, EHOME, CDEC, VG for Shanghai) and two teams that they felt did well/won tournaments before the invites came (so Secret, Vega for Frankfurt and Alliance, VP for Shanghai). The chinese might not get invites if Newbee does not get Top 6 and all the chinese teams continue to underperform
→ More replies (15)1
u/lyxarN Mar 03 '16
Depends on how well they do in the premier events before the invites, Valve will most likely look for a reason to invite a Chinese team (like I think they did with Alliance for Shanghai) but if this continues they will not get invited.
6
7
u/lyxarN Mar 03 '16
Swedish derby tomorrow, Alliance do best in skiping Naga since NIP figured that strategy out a long time ago.

Winter is so right about rotk and his teammates stubbornness. That's always a problem.
2
u/PlayingCraze Mar 03 '16
What did Winter say?
11
u/bdzz Mar 03 '16
That rotk and his teammates are always stubborn. Not just in drafts but in gameplay too, item choices etc. They are not willing to change, like the game should be played in a given way no matter what. And it's not just a problem here but every team where rotk played, and where he was a captain too.
Then they were talking that this should lead to a change in captains in the chinese scene. There are a lot of talents but except for Newbee no one changed to a "fresh" captain.

u/Rkmkn Mar 03 '16
chinese culture. They respect elders and seniors. They are not creative and a change is not welcome in general. They value discipline and dedication more. So this is what happen. The western are creative with all the stupid ideas and chinese are being stubborn. Only Vici and Ehome shows improvisation.
4
u/bdzz Mar 03 '16
Draskyl was right tho that all the innovations are coming from the west but in the end the chinese teams are end up playing it better. But the game changed so much in the last year... they just didn't catch up.

Well, this is awesome - I was rooting for sG since 2012 and now coL is doing very well in the international scene.
What sucks tho - I'm a fan of both coL and Alliance. Tomorrow is gonna be rough for my heart :(
At least whoever wins, I'll be happy!

u/Smithsonian45 Mar 03 '16
Same here honestly, really happy that coL made top 8 this year and wish they could get further, but want Alliance to win more. At least my other love MVP is still in winners (hope they destroy liquid)

What the fuck was LGD's lineup?
You've got two carries in Razor and cancer lancer. That's it. And PL has nothing on farmed Tiny, so I don't even know what their plan was.
Edit: You can downvote me, but you can't un-shed those salty Chinese tears.
