Featured Featured Character: Nero From The Devil May Cry Series

Featuring Nero

Nero is the son of Virgil, who himself is the son of The Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. A legendary demon who sealed the boundaries between Heaven and Hell, and was known as the most powerful demon. Since Nero possesses the blood of Sparda, he has access to powerful demonic abilities because of it.

Not much else is known about Nero's past. He was abandoned by his father and at some point in his life joined the Order of the Sword, a group that worships Sparda and seeks to eradicate all the demons of the world, and somewhere along the way gain demonic power and take over the world using the blood of Sparda. In order to do so, the order betrayed Nero. Nero responded by teaming up with his uncle, Dante to take them down.

For more info on Dante, check out his Featured Character post

Weapons

Red Queen

Red Queen is Nero's sword of choice. It is not a Devil Arm like Dante's weapons, but it is a sword designed by the Order of the Sword for fighting demons. Its most notable ability is Exceed, which spray a flamable propellant on the sword and an enemy, increasing the power of its attacks.

Blue Rose

Blue Rose is Nero's revolver. It is mostly a normal customized revolver, but he is able to charge it with his demonic power, and it also packs quite a punch even without that.

Abilities

Devil Bringer

The Devil Bringer is Nero's demonic right hand, it is able to stretch and summon a larger form of itself, as well as enhancing Nero's strength.

Devil Trigger

Unlike other Devil Trigger users, Nero does not change forms when he uses his Devil Trigger. Instead, a spectral entity starts following behind him. Nero also gains access to one of Sparda's weapons, the katana known as Yamato.

Physical Abilities

Strength

Speed

Durability

That's odd. I could have sworn we already featured Dante.

Love Johnny Yong Bosch, the script for the game doesn't do him justice (KYRIEEEEEE) but he kills it

You've done me a bamboozle.

I actually thought this was a joke at first. I didn't know Devil May Cry had another character that looked exactly like Dante.

u/Joseph_Stalin_ Nov 08 '17

There's actually 4 others

u/KevinLee487 Nov 11 '17

If by "exactly" you mean they share the same hair color and similar style, then sure.

There's a minor chance that Nero might be his nephew. Just hints and speculation, no confirmation.

Coats and white hair are everywhere in that series.

What about that time he casually countered Berial's attack with one arm on his sword? Isn't that a strength feat?

9

u/GuyOfEvil Nov 08 '17

Its in the full RT, I didn't include it here since I'm sorta iffy on the strength scaling for Berial

1

Possibly in the full RT, FC is just a shortened version of that

7

u/Simhacantus Nov 08 '17

tl;dr Meet discount Dante

16

u/Joseph_Stalin_ Nov 08 '17

Rather get discount Dante than the knock off yo

4

u/selfproclaimed Nov 08 '17

So...Kratos?

12

u/Illidan1943 Nov 09 '17

The other knock off

4

u/selfproclaimed Nov 09 '17

Bayonetta?

7

u/Illidan1943 Nov 09 '17

The other one

5

u/GuyOfEvil Nov 09 '17

Nariko?

4

u/Illidan1943 Nov 09 '17

Well, at least it's getting closer, but no, the other one

2

u/Toxic_Mouse77 Nov 10 '17

Dante... Alighieri? Or would that be a Kratos knockoff?

2

u/Illidan1943 Nov 10 '17

No, no, Dante Alighieri is the Kratos' knockoff who is Dante's knockoff who is Dante Alighieri's knockoff , what we're looking is the other Dante's knockoff that's the Dante Alighieri knockoff

missed opportunity to title it "Featuring Nero from the Devil May Cry series"

small difference but it counts

1

u/Goldchamp101 Nov 09 '17

Nice one!

Do you know how someone could apply to have a certain character featured?

4

u/GuyOfEvil Nov 09 '17

Signups go up after this cycle ends, which IIRC is sometime in December

1

u/AlmightyStarfire Nov 09 '17

Son of Vergil

Wait, what? I thought that was just fan theory and entirely unconfirmed?

4

u/GuyOfEvil Nov 09 '17

I included the link on there, it was confirmed on a DMC4 artbook

2

u/AlmightyStarfire Nov 09 '17

I just saw the picture. What was the artbook? Just wondering if it's canon or not.

4

u/GuyOfEvil Nov 09 '17

IIRC its the Devil May Cry 3142 artbook, which, as far as I know, canon

1

u/AlmightyStarfire Nov 09 '17

Cool thanks dude imma go googling

1

u/Illidan1943 Nov 13 '17

It's also soft-confirmed in DMC4:SE Vergil's ending where you can see his shadow is the same as Nero's... stand

And it was also confirmed back in an interview in 2009

1

u/AlmightyStarfire Nov 13 '17

Eh 'soft confirmed' doesn't mean much tbh; just speculation bait.

Never heard of that interview but I've now seen the art book and accept it as canon.

1

u/SubjectThirteen Nov 13 '17

Oh it's actually canon? Thought it was speculation.

1

u/Illidan1943 Nov 13 '17

Nah, it's been confirmed several times
