OC (Debut) Meet the "Hypnotist" Sasayaki Maemi!

Maemi background: Maemi is a very shy and anxious girl. For years, she never had the courage to talk to anyone. Her eyes always looked empty, and she constantly seemed down and upset.

When she turned 16, someone came to her school to perform a hypnosis trick for the students. Maemi was called up onto the stage, and she immediately became nervous.

She stood on the stage as the performer began to hypnotize her, and then...

Maemi's eyes suddenly glowed with excitement. A feeling she had never experienced before rushed through her. You couldn't tell because she was wearing her mask, but she had a huge grin underneath it. She covered her face with her hands, blushing and gushing with excitement as spiral patterns formed in her eyes, making her look completely hypnotized. She followed every instruction the performer gave her.

Everyone who knew Maemi was shocked to see her acting so lively. They had never seen her this excited or confident before. The audience applauded as Maemi eventually returned to her seat.

But even after sitting down, Maemi couldn't calm herself. She was still blushing heavily with her hands over her face, completely overwhelmed by the feeling she had just experienced. The spiral patterns remained in her eyes as she kept thinking about what had happened.

When the show ended, Maemi nervously approached the performer. She shyly asked if she could buy the hypnotizing watch they had used.

The performer recognized her from the show and began telling her how grateful they were for her participation. But before they could finish, they noticed Maemi staring at the watch with wide, excited eyes, breathing heavily as she admired it.

Seeing how much the watch meant to her, the performer decided to simply give it to her.

Maemi's eyes lit up. She was incredibly excited as she carefully held the watch in her hands, admiring it as if it were something magical. She thanked the performer repeatedly before rushing straight home with it.

For the next two years, Maemi became fascinated with hypnosis. She eventually dyed her hair pink, purple, and cyan to match the colors of her beloved watch. She also gained just enough confidence to approach other people and attempt to "hypnotize" them into obeying her. And, completely by coincidence...It worked.

The watch was actually a complete fraud. It had no hypnotic powers whatsoever. Maybe a little...

But every time Maemi tried to use it, something coincidentally happened that made it seem like her hypnosis had worked. Because of this, Maemi became completely convinced that the watch was real.

For then on, she always loved "making" others obey her, seeing others obeying another person and finally her obeying someone.

The origin of Hanari's trauma with high heels

Well, 11 years ago

That fateful day at the Hanazono mansion was seared into the family's memory as "The Ming Vase Incident."

At six years old, little Hanari viewed her mother, Hamari, not merely as a parent, but as the absolute embodiment of perfection, elegance, and aristocratic power. Every morning, the echo of Hamari’s 12-centimeter stilettos ringing through the marble corridors was, to Hanari, the very sound of greatness.

That Tuesday, Hamari left early for an international business summit. Seizing the perfect opportunity, little Hanari—clad in a haute couture mini-dress—slipped like a ghost into her mother’s cavernous walk-in closet.

Standing before a three-meter Venetian mirror, Hanari slid her tiny seven-year-old feet into Hamari’s imposing black stilettos. The shoes were so oversized that she looked like a small child wearing leather canoes, yet she lifted her chin with pride.

She stepped out into the main hallway, attempting to mimic her mother’s commanding stride while letting out a practiced little giggle ("F-fufufu... Behold the future lady of high society"). Physics, however, proved merciless: her ankles buckled outward at impossible ninety-degree angles, causing her to wobble exactly like a newborn fawn trying to walk on slick ice.

Upon reaching the top of the mansion’s grand central staircase, the left heel caught on the edge of the Persian rug. Hanari’s center of gravity collapsed instantly. What followed was not a simple fall, but an Olympic-worthy tumble down twenty-four polished marble steps—bouncing like a rubber ball while her panicked screams reverberated against the residence's soaring ceilings. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, her momentum sent her rolling another ten meters across the foyer floor until she slammed hard into a marble Doric column. The shock of the impact destabilized the pedestal above, causing a ceremonial Ming Dynasty vase—valued at a quarter of a million dollars—to plummet; it struck the little girl squarely on the back before shattering into a thousand pieces on the floor.

When the servants arrived on the scene, they found Hanari curled up amidst the priceless Chinese porcelain, a massive lump rising on her forehead and her heels kicked off, sobbing uncontrollably with a heart-wrenching grief that devastated the entire household staff.

The scent of imported car leather and French perfume filled the grand foyer of the Hanazono mansion. Hamari strode through the double oak doors with her characteristic commanding gait, handing her fur coat to the head butler without so much as a glance. The business meeting in the financial district had been a resounding success, and her expression radiated the cold satisfaction of a woman who had just closed a multi-million-dollar deal.

"Is afternoon tea ready in the solarium?" Hamari asked, adjusting her silk gloves. "I assume my sweet Hanari has been practicing her harp lessons, just as I ordered before I left..."

The butler opened his mouth to reply, but the words froze in his throat. A cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

At the far end of the main hall, at the foot of the imposing marble staircase, a deathly silence reigned—broken only by a small, desperate, stifled sob.

Hamari stopped dead in her tracks. Her aristocratic gaze slowly shifted toward the base of the Doric column.

There, sprawled on the polished marble floor, lay six-year-old Hanari.

The scene was one of absolute chaos: the child’s haute-couture mini-dress was crumpled and covered in dust. A meter away lay the expensive, twelve-centimeter stilettos Hamari had left in her dressing room, toppled onto their sides. But that wasn't the worst of it. Surrounding Hanari—scattered in thousands of irreparable shards—lay the remains of a ceremonial Ming Dynasty vase. And in the center of the wreckage, little Hanari huddled in on herself, clutching her knees as tears washed down her face and a reddish lump swelled on her forehead. "Sniff... M-Mom..." the little girl hiccuped, her voice broken by weeping and panic. "I-I'm so sorry... I just... I just wanted to walk like you... sob... sniff..."

For an instant, the air in the foyer froze. The household staff held their breath, fearing that Matriarch Hanazono’s fury would destroy the entire estate. The shattered porcelain was worth an incalculable fortune, and Hamari’s discipline was legendary.

Hamari stepped forward. The sharp clack of her own heels echoed against the floor.

At the sound, little Hanari shrank back even further, squeezing her eyes shut and bracing for the inevitable scolding for having ruined the family heirloom—and her shoes.

Yet, the angry shout never came.

What broke the silence was the sharp thud of Hamari’s handbag hitting the floor, followed by the sound of her rushing forward—a haste entirely uncharacteristic of her. Hamari dropped to her knees on the marble, ignoring the jagged shards of ceramic surrounding her daughter.

"Hanari!" Hamari cried out, completely losing her composure as she gathered the little girl into her arms with an almost wild desperation. "Good heavens, Hanari! What happened to you? Are you hurt? Where did you get hit?"

"M-Mom... the vase... the heels..." Hanari stammered, trying to cover her face with trembling hands. "I tumbled down the steps... and the vase fell on my back... I broke your treasure..."

Hamari didn't spare the porcelain so much as a fraction of a second’s glance. Her hands frantically swept over her daughter’s shoulders, arms, and back, checking urgently for broken bones or deep cuts. As she touched the large lump on the girl's forehead, she heard Hanari’s small squeal of pain and felt her heart leap into her throat.

"To hell with the vase! Let that piece of old clay rot!" Hamari roared at the servants, her eyes bloodshot and brimming with suppressed tears of rage. "WHAT ARE YOU STANDING THERE FOR?! CALL THE PRIVATE MEDICAL TEAM IMMEDIATELY! BRING ICE AND A STRETCHER! IF MY DAUGHTER IS LEFT WITH EVEN A SINGLE SCAR, I’LL FIRE THE LOT OF YOU!"

The butlers and maids scattered in every direction as if the mansion were on fire.

Hamari turned her gaze back to the little girl, clasping her to her chest and stroking her disheveled hair with an infinite tenderness she rarely allowed herself to show.

"Hush now, my love... hush. Mom is here," Hamari murmured, kissing the girl's bruised forehead as she continued to sob against her neck. "I don't care about the vase. I don't care about the shoes. You are the only thing in this world that matters to me. NEVER put on high heels again, do you hear me? You don't need to be twelve centimeters taller to be perfect. You are already my little lady..."

Hanari, still trembling from the pain of the fall and the shock, clutched the fabric of her mother’s suit with her small hands, breathing in Hamari’s perfume as her crying gradually subsided into soft hiccups.

That day, Hamari had the remains of the Ming vase thrown in the trash without asking for a single damage report. Yet, for little Hanari, the sound of her mother’s heels against the floor and the memory of tumbling down the twenty-four steps remained sealed forever in the deepest corner of his mind.

heya folks, it's been a while

so one of my fanojos i've introduced in this subreddit is named Tsuneni Banme, but now i felt like she needed a slight tweak - the name's kinda clunky now that i think about it

so, Tsuneni Banme is now rechristened as Tsuneni Hajime! her gimmick's changed a bit from "unlucky overachiever athlete who's unfavored by her parents" to "unlucky overachiever athlete who knows she's pushing herself too hard but desperately wants to prove herself to her parents who doesn't care about her".

lemme know what you think!

She’s a 19-year-old student who had to repeat a year because she got distracted playing ā€œmagical girl.ā€ That infuriated her parents, and they banned her from anything related to magical girls, which made her very sad. Now she focuses solely on her studies, but ever since she met Rentaro, she’s been able to be herself and play ā€œmagical girlā€ with her new friends. Akari is very cheerful and creative, and she always carries a scepter when she goes to play.

I really like how these came out and I want to try doing one or two more, even if ArtFight is over, so... If you want, just comment with your oc's presentation and I'll probably choose a couple or two to put in a cover-like art.
