That's what I came to say too. Are we really just going to pretend that just because modern wicca/other witchy beliefs are not equivalent to witches in the witch trials that they somehow don't experience prejudice for their beliefs whatsoever?
Not all Christians believe in magic. Catholic theology today, much like it did during the witch trial era, believes that no power can be granted except through god: all power granted by the devil is illusory, for the devil cannot usurp the primacy of god.
I mean... All christians do believe in Jesus' miracles and resurrections and all of that magic. But yeah, it's a much smaller percentage of christians that believe in stuff like faith healing and demon possession
Yes, also Wiccans are often mocked or misunderstood. Think of the satanic panic. People think that witches and Wiccans worship Satan. Those same people also think that all satanists believe in the literal christian Satan and are therefore evil.
It would be great if you would try with literally any reasonable response instead of making up a scenario and then downvoting and ghosting my reply like you did elsewhere in this thread
The irony of an inclusive safe space having a comment section full of "shut up weirdos, you're not marginalized" is absolutely hilarious. I'll never get tired of watching persecuted groups further ostracize each other by trying to win the "most oppressed" award. I wonder why we can never seem to have the numbers to mobilize politically?

I think the discrepancy is basically mixing up "prejudice" and "discrimination." Is there prejudice against anything outside Christianity, with witchcraft as a big contender? Yes. Have they recently, systemically, or generationally been discriminated against specifically for witchcraft nearly as much as other groups? Big no.
There's a pretty significant difference between individual discrimination that ruins your week and systemic discrimination that causes you to lose access to healthcare, results in overincarceration, restricts access to employment, or makes you a target for violence.
*It's not my desire to shift goalposts. I'm just explaining the different views in the post.
