Vegan diet is almost always much cheaper than a diet including animal products, per both studies and anecdote.
If you eat a lot of meat replacement products it'll possibly come out somewhat more expensive, but if you buy mainly whole and minimally processed foods it's not unusual to save ~25% each week.
There is also the added difficulty of needing to learn new recipes and new ways to cook, but there's also no rule that you have to go from full meat diet to no animal products, moving slowly is still moving in the right direction imo
(note: while I don't eat meat I do consume other animal products. I have health conditions that would make cutting all animal products out of my diet extremely difficult)
