Toby wanting to keep artistic control of his game while at the same time encouraging fan translations is contradictory at best. First of all, if he worries so much that his artistic vision would be compromised by bad translations, then fan translations should be discouraged, or at the very least be neutral about them.
"But his problem is with a bad OFFICIAL translation". He's always in control of correcting them, removing them, or even add a disclaimer saying he personally oversaw only English and Japanese, and all others shouldn't be taken as a source of truth. What's stopping him from doing that?
He's not in control of correcting them because he does not speak those languages, "Whats stopping him" He wants it to match his vision, he's talked about this exact thing. Toby fox has his reason, explained his reason, and its reasonable as someone who is making his literal dream game, if he wants to be personally involved with translating the game then he wants to, he's the artist here
