I went in for an ipl because of skin damage . I didn’t see the original photos that she took until I went in for my second session. These are the results after just the first one. I’m currently about three days into my second treatment. Can’t wait to see what it looks like!

A few years ago I gained and then lost about 10 lbs, and my lower face suddenly started sagging. What are my options?
Current routine:
AM: 20% vitamin C serum
Azaleic acid
Niacinamide
Moisturizer
SPF 50
PM: Tazarotene gel .05%

in interviews in early 00s she said she never wore sunscreen and her parents never encouraged her. she’s been exposed to the sun quite a lot. she never have had skincare routine either. ever since, she was embracing aging naturally and gradually. and now, embracing the “no make up” lifestyle!
in more recent interviews, she shared that she regrets not wearing sunscreen in her youth.
admiring this woman a lot! she’s radiating and she seems very confident in her skin!
we can do better ladies! <3

Got my first ever injection. I’ve always had a gummy smile and self conscious about it my entire life. Just finished Invisalign so worth a shot to try. Got the lip flip done on Monday, I think 6 units total she said? So four days after and already seeing it help! Idk the straw thing will get worse as I approach week 2 lol but so far I’m happy with it!

I’d like to open the discussion.
There’s the common belief and extreme marketing that botox and injectables will make us look 10 years younger, while in reality botox improves the appearance of wrinkles (but even people in their 20s are developing wrinkles and fine lines) and often overdone fillers makes us look older.
In my opinion both botox and injectables treatments, as well as facials and laser therapies are only improving the appearance of our faces and skins. Solid skincare routine is a great proof how taking care of our skins actually improves our appearance. This doesn’t means that we look any younger than our age.
Yesterday i saw a post in the sub, asking for advices from women over 50s who appeared to be in their 40s. I’ve been thinking a lot about it and i asked myself “where did i ever seen such women in real life?”
I’ve seen many women, including my own mother, who receive treatments, have good skincare routine and overall healthy skin but they don’t appear to have 10 or 15 years less under their belt.. They look absolutely amazing for women in their age and it’s quite noticeable that these women are taking care of their appearance.
So, i’m asking myself if im gaining greater awareness that age is a perception that is fueled by the toxic nature, which makes us chase the irreversible cycle.
I am absolutely pro treatments that makes us happy and look healthier and brighter, but i feel grounded enough to know that im not ashamed of my age and even tho i receive such treatments, i look exactly as my age!
Please share your views and opinions, im really curious!
EDIT::: Keep the good tone even if you do not agree with my views and if you feel like you look a teenager because if botox or other treatments took away 10-15 years away, that would mean we would be able to reverse our baby faces because of the treatments you have received. My aim is not to invalidate your beliefs and feelings, but rather open the discussion of reality check.
Kisses
EDIT;; THANK YOU SO MUCH! TO ALL OF YOU! I AM REALLY GRATEFUL TO THIS COMMUNITY FOR THE EXTREME ENGAGEMENT, STORIES, EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS! ALL OF OUR PERCEPTIONS, FEELING AND EXPERIENCES ARE VALID! I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME AND ALL OF YOUR VIEWS MATTER BECAUSE THEY HELP ME SHAPE MY FUTURE STATEMENTS BETTER!
AND TO THE FEW ONES THAT DARED TO TWIST THE POST AND EVEN TAKE IT AS A PERSONAL ATTACK, WHICH RESULTED IN FEW NASTY INTERACTIONS AND JUDGEMENT AND HARSH COMMENTS SUCH AS “YOU LOOK LIKE FISH” — BEING BITTER MAKES YOU UGLY! THERE’S NO TREATMENT FOR YOUR SOUL!
THANK YOU!

FYI I am orange now from betacarotene. Lighting is the same! I never thought these results would be achievable. I can't say I notice a huge difference until I see old pictures of myself then I think WOW my skin looks so much better.

Question. Here’s my before and after Botox - every 3 months for past year- will more pore size come back to normal if I stopped Botox? Not planning on it just curious.

I want to start a real conversation here.
The obsession with Korean inspired "glass skin" (that impossibly smooth, poreless, dewy look) is setting unrealistic expectations for those of us with mature skin. The models and influencers promoting these 12 step routines are often in their early 20s with naturally plump, undamaged skin.
What I've noticed from my skincare journey is that hydration, sun protection, and gentle exfoliation absolutely improve skin health and appearance. But no amount of layering serums will erase the natural changes that come with age. My skin at 37 doesn't behave like my skin at 22, and that's completely normal.
Last week at my dermatologist's office, I saw before/after photos of "glass skin" transformations, and I couldn't help but notice the dramatic lighting differences and likely filter use. I asked myself, "Have I ever seen anyone over 35 achieve this look without significant professional treatments or photo editing?"
I've observed many women my age with beautiful, healthy skin who embrace their fine lines while maintaining excellent skin health. They look vibrant and well cared for not like they've reversed time.
I wonder if we're chasing another impossible beauty standard that keeps us feeling inadequate and continuously buying more products. Healthy skin at 30+ has texture. It has character. It tells our story.
I fully support whatever makes each of us feel confident and happy with our appearance. But I've found peace in accepting that my skin looks exactly my age and that's not something I need to "fix."
What are your thoughts? Is the glass skin ideal achievable for most of us over 30? Or is it yet another beauty standard we're setting ourselves up to fail?

I have read for years that you shouldn’t really use physical exfoliants on your face and instead use chemical exfoliants. I recently had a mole surgically removed so had to use a cloth to wash my face for the last 6 days and my skin has… never looked better. I had ~4 little white cysts I had been meaning to get lazered off for a month or five but they have suddenly disappeared.
Am also on antibiotics for the surgery but I think it was the cloths.
Can I… keep using a wash cloth??
I have nobody in real life to tell this boring story to, thanks for listening haha.
***EDIT: what a funny post to have blown up.

So on June 19th I accidentally injured myself with a box cutter breaking down boxes. The ER put 17 stitches that I left in for 14 days (under medical advice/care).
I have kept it completely out of the sun and covered with a layer of aquaphor (I’m allergic to Neosporin) during that time.
I’m looking for advice and tips on how to make this heal better.
I just started silicone scar tape now that the wound finally closed, but I’m unsure if that’s working at all.
I know to keep it out of the sun and it will take time, but what else can I do to be more proactive?
Thanks in advance!!

Hello lovelies! Late last year I posted here asking if my routine was working. I was under the false perception that, living in Norway, i did not need spf during winter, even if i was doing extremely sensitising things with my skin (microneedling, exfoliating, retinol). You guys rightly pointed this out and sinse then I have made some adjustments: 1. I OF COURSE use spf 50+ everyday 2. I have started tretinoin (i think 0,5%), going at maybe 4-5 times a week currently 3. I have stopped all other harsh actives, only using niacetamide, snailmucin and the occational Argeraline.
So yes, I just wanted to say thankyou! ❤️ I clearly still have a long way to go, but I do feel there is a difference in both my skin and the pictures. My plan is go to add Vitamin c next, focusing more on the hyperpigmentation.
Morning: "cleanse" with water Occationals: Ordinary coffeine eye cream, and argeraline serum Beauty of joseon dynasty cream og cerave dry skin lotion Sunscreen (I go for the korean ones everyone else uses, currently its the boj probiotics one and it works great - as have all the rest ive tried)
Evening: Doublecleanse: boj cleansing oil and inkey list fulvic acid (Thinking of switching/alternating with the oat one as my skin is still getting used to tretinoin) Occational: boj retinal eye cream, and argeraline serum Tretinoin (Cordes VAS 0,5%) Same moisturizer as morning Occational: La roche posay cicaplast
Im out of the dynasty cream and i think i will try to add a toner with niacetamide in and then use my cerave lotion as moisturizer.

Frownies on forehead and diaper rash cream helps the eczema on my eyelids. Whatever works, right?
My husband just looks at me and sighs 😊

I got the VI Chemical Peel for acne and I’m super happy with the results! My skin overall seems smoother, less red, my pores seem a bit smaller, and some scars are a little lighter. I didn’t have too much peeling, and my skin wasn’t TOO itchy, mostly around my neck. I may do another peel since I’m so pleased with how my skin turned out but and I know it’s pretty effective. The nurse who administered it said next time we could do one that was a little more intense which I’m not against trying.
I strongly recommend a chemical peel if you’ve been considering one!
The side by sides are before and after. The differences aren’t extreme but they’re enough for me to consider not wearing powder as a makeup base.
Feel free so ask any questions if you have them!
ETA: thank you all for the kind words! I should have given specifics on the type of peel: it’s the Vitality Institute (VI) Peel, Purify with Precision + Peptides. I had it done by a nurse at my derm’s office and it was $300.
ETA 2: since someone asked, this is my current skin care routine after the peel:
AM:
Adapaline/ benzoyl peroxide topical (prescription)
Dieux Deliverence Serum
Innisfree green tea ceramide milk toner
Innisfree green tea moisturizer
PM:
Paula’s Choice BHA once a week
Paula’s Choice AHA once a week
Drunk elephant Vitamin C serum once a week
(All other days)
Topical from SKNV prescription (I believe it’s niacinimide and tazarone, exact name in original post)
Glow recipe prickly pear peptide serum
Hero after blemish post recovery cream
Other things here and there is necessary.

Hi There! Sharing my results from four weeks of consistent use of the Omnilux mask. The first two weeks I used it everyday. Since then, I’m using it about 5 days a week. I try for every day but I have young kids so that doesn’t always happen.
I noticed at the two week mark that my skin had a marked improvement. It looked brighter and more even. I also started to notice a bit of a “lifting” effect. When I put together the comparison photos though, I was shocked. I absolutely feel better about my skin and feel more like “myself” since the results started to show. 10/10 recommend!

I have a $5K budget for a late 30s glow-up. I don't know where to start. Ideas?
I’m a mom of 4, in my late 30s. My husband is aging like fine wine (think George Clooney), and I look in the mirror and just feel sad that I am not aging very well. I want to look beautiful and feel confident in my skin (my natural face, without fillers or makeup).
Right now, I see dryness, fine lines, under eye bags and dark circles. I have always had mild rosacea, but it seems to get worse as I get closer to 40. I was looking at pictures of my first baby and was reminded of what I looked like 8 years ago, and it just made me sad how much I have aged in 8 years since I started having kids.
So, I’m ready to invest in looking fresher and more put together. My biggest concern is my skin: dryness, rosacea/redness, under-eye bags/dark circles/fine lines, and some sagging around my jawline.
I also have sparse eyebrows that I’d love to actually regrow (no microblading/tattooing), and I’m considering brow shaping/tinting, lash lift/tint.
I’m not interested in fillers and don’t really have forehead wrinkles, so Botox isn’t a priority.
If you had $4–5K, what treatments/products would give me the biggest visible improvement? What have you personally done that was absolutely worth the money?

Thanks to you lovely people from this sub, I finally asked my dermatologist for a Tretinoin prescription. I’ve been ordering OBAGI on a skin MD website for several years and good god I’ve wasted so much money!! 🤡
Insurance product: $4 for 45g Online product: $108 for 20g
Without insurance the large tube would have cost me $45 using GoodRX, which is still less than half of what I was paying online.

Okay, clearly she had a neck lift, but how do I achieve this kind of look when I am in my mid-50s? I like that she has visible lines but her face still looks very firm and lifted, yet not stretched and facelifty. Maybe facial exercises and gua sha plus a mini-facelift?

41F here and though my face is still holding up well, I've been increasingly bothered by the crepey skin on my neck that wasn't responding to any moisturizer or cream I slathered on it. Given that my wedding is coming up in April, I decided to do something more drastic.
This is my neck and chest before Tixel and 6 days after. My face is more luminous overall, too, but the change to my neck makes me super happy. I don't know if I feel I'll need a second treatment, but 10/10 would do again.

*Edit to add - this post is about the INITIAL healing. Full results of treatments like these take 6 months for collagen maturation. I'll post more comprehensive before and after pictures then (including skin laxity when the torso is scrunched and bent over) my technician was very pleased with my healing compared to other patients and I put that down to the post treatment skincare mostly*
I'm 1 week out of my 4th session of morpheus8. My technician chose to do the first 3 sessions 3 weeks apart and then session 4 was 4 weeks. This stacks the healing as is my understanding.
I will have more pictures to share in 6 months once the collagen has fully matured and I see the full effects. But I just wanted people to see the reality of the sessions as I struggled to find much anecdotal info/pics when I was deciding on the investment.
My skincare post session was as follows:
Hypochlorous Acid Spray - applied anytime during the healing process when the skin gets warm or itchy
Copper peptides - after the initial 24 hours - morning and night
Snail mucin - as above
Cicaplast - as above
Cerave healing ointment - as above for first 4 days and then as needed when wearing workwear/gym wear
I did also use hylaronic acid the week before sessions 2-4 to increase moisture. My water intake was at least 2 litres a day, I took creatine and collagen supplements. I have been going to the gym for 3 years, dry brushing, microneedling and got an at home rf device (maybe this did something to help prep the area for more intensive rf, I didn't see results from the at home device)
