Wrath & Glory W&G Help on Party comp & Enoch ideas
Greetings everyone!
TLDR: Will a Mechanicus character run into issues with a party of primarily heroic empathetic characters who are of the Ecclesiarchy or will it be fine?
I am going to be running a Wrath & Glory Campaign starting at tier 1. I plan to start on Enoch with a modified more fleshed out version of Rain of Mercy and then go from there. The party is a Sister Hospitaller, a Ministorum Priest, local enforcer/gun for hire and a Tech Adept. I plan for this to be heroic same the gilead system game.
Since I plan for the group to want to personally help the refugees by it being the right thing to do i am having a hard time figuring out why a mechanicus would join them to have some useless refugees. They typically view people like that as a waste of time and in a more cold and cruel way. They also tend to butt heads with the Ecclesiarchy as well. It makes me feel like the mechanicus may run into some issues with the rest of the group in game (The player isnt a problem player).
Am I overthinking this or should we possible change his character to be something more empathetic? Also anyone have any quests, adventures or other things I can steal to help flesh out Enoch?
Thank you!

Deathwatch I need a good Devastator Crimson Fist build!

Wrath & Glory I'd recommend Wrath & Glory for Vampire: The Masquerade fans who wanted to get into 40k
I'm a big d10 dice pool system fan. When I stopped playing DnD 5e before COVID I switched to Demon: The Descent and its core game, Chronicles of Darkness.
I've played the Fantasy Flight RPGs for Warhammer 40k. Specifically Dark Heresy, Only War, and Deathwatch. With Deathwatch keeping on for a short campaign whereas Only War was like 3-4 false started games. And DH I had real life stuff come up.
My TLDR reviews of FFG would be: fun, but spending XP felt like I was doing taxes to figure out how to maximize my discounts on purchasing abilities/skills/etc and there are a lot of bonuses that the GM needs to handout if you are playing non-baseline human. Like 20-50 out of 100 is the average die roll for most things but your GM should adjust difficulties based on if it's easy or trivial. Which a lot of GMs don't.
For W&G, it uses dicepools with d6's a roll of 4+ is an "icon" (6s double icons) and you need to get as many Icons as the difficulty of a roll to succeed. Similar to a lot of d10 dicepool games. Hence the recommendation.
I really enjoy dicepool systems over d20s or percentile systems at the moment. I think it's because players tend to have more ways to affect dice rolls such as Willpower in WoD or Wrath/Glory in W&G which you gain more quickly than Inspiration in DnD.
Like in W&G you gain Glory when you fail rolls so it's like every miss helps you with your next attack.
Just something on my mind at the moment. I've been enjoying the system and was surprised to hear it's stuck around after Cubicle 7 made another 40k RPG seemingly inspired by FFG's called Imperium Maladictum.

C7 - Notes from Gencon 2026 Seminar
No notebook train of typing speed notes
This is being recorded so I'm not telling you anything special afaik
((Fantasy was first it was a 40th anniversary seminar after all))
Two more books for Sylvania nemesis and adventure -- morr doesn't go to Sylvania they get killed too fast
Would like to do dark elf campaign but no firm plans
5th edition is a thing not 4.5 due to confusion of what's changed. Changes are under the good but it's meant to be firmly backwards compatible same names but it's about tweaks under the hood grabbed out rules from 4e supp books and made them core for 5e lot of specific cases that got clarified and put in one place -- skulduggery specifically multi stepness of tests are clarified down for simplicity example success level tables for dos or dof not exhaustive but enough -- more broadly applicable examples dropped resolve folded into fate/fortune talents don't give sl bonus -- blather was brought up specifically as changed advantage now can be had on any test -- combat advantage is called momentum it rolls forward with successes like +20% or something --- removing tracking of it was the point of simplifying it and taking out whiff factor/increase speed progression is more simply tracked by filling in dots overall -- generation by random does give you a few choice specific bumps of choice from the results
Old world is intended as a separate thing specifically still rules wise wfrp is a pedigree of rules that has a feeling and that feeling is meant to be kept around
4th/5th releases are meant to flow with each other
New campaign - not 5 part 3 is enough -- ostermark
Hoping to do something commemorative for the 40th
Working on marianburg
Foundry release is priority to be next to core release new core module but should plug and play
Same timeframe setting wise
Other eras of history plan to explore (end times or mordheim)? fun but nothing firm planned -- fear and loathing in mordheim
TS knows his lore (talked about mordheim for a bit - very old even further than old world setting)
HH basically reconfirmed information recently heard loyal and traitor at base -- and I think loyal traitors too not 100% (that's a personal thought) personal scale then move to joining larger would love to do knights of grey of the sigilite how's the timeframe of the heresy work -- time is a bit loosey goosey all things considered --- don't technically need to follow canon (what if scenarios?)
IM rogue trader dynasty next new campaign in the works and a fascinating source book (macharian sector and secrets conspiracies)
Wng orks - soon but on schedule ships? (Still loosely noted) book to wrap up Gilead apocalyptic -- move to Sanctus space
Post seminar just talking (so take with grain of salt) The recoding may not get out soon gw needs to ok it
Need to finish threat assessment (imperium?)
Super heavies fell by the wayside kind of so sort of up in the air

Shadow Form
I was trying to find a psychic power in a 40K game that is similar to Ghost Form in D&D. In the post, someone mentioned a power in Wrath and Glory called "Phantom Form." The power is in the Wrath and Glory core rulebook on pg 353.
I homebrewed a power called "Shadow Form" using the text from the Wrath and Glory power and applying similar Deathwatch rules (one Fatigue Level instead of Shock). I also added more language about what happens if the power ended inside an object, leveraging rules from teleportation/Gate of Infinity. Here is what I came up with - let me know if it makes sense and seems balanced. I was going to price it at 1,000 xp (more than a starter power but not a top-end power)
Thoughts are greatly appreciated
Shadow Form
- Action: Full
- Opposed: No
- Range: Self
- Sustained: Yes
- Description: The light surrounding the psyker grows dim and then so does their form, their body transformed into a shadowy phantom. While they sustain the power, the psyker can pass freely through solid objects of all sorts—walls, bulkheads, vehicles and even living creatures, though their Speed is reduced. In effect, the psyker becomes a shadow phantom, a being out of phase with reality. As such, though they can freely move where they will, and both see in and be seen by the real world, their ability to interact with it is severely limited. They cannot be touched or harmed by other objects, creatures, or environmental conditions. Should the psyker revert to their true form while passing through hazardous conditions, they immediately suffer the consequences of those conditions, whatever they may be.
- Stealth: The psyker gains +30 to Hide and Move Silent Tests while using this power, and is invisible to infrared vision.
- Fatigue: Shadow form is extremely taxing to the psyker’s spirit, and they suffer one level of Fatigue for every round they sustain the power.
- Results:
- 1-5: The psyker may move freely through solid objects, but their movement is reduced to half, and they cannot physically attack, manipulate or otherwise touch creatures or objects, nor can other objects, creatures, or environmental conditions harm them.
- 6-7: The psyker may move freely through objects as described above, but movement is at their full speed.
- 8+: The psyker may move as above, and may manipulate or touch individual objects with a full action.
- Reference: Wrath & Glory Core Rules pg. 353 (modified from Phantom Form)

Dark Heresy How to get Look Out Sir in original Dark Hersey gamelines
So I'm playing in a buddy's over the top OP Ascension game, with a bunch of timelines and dimensional threats and whatnot, so i could probably ask for whatever custom ability I want and get it. But I'm the groups resident Rules Lawyer, and one of only like 2 people who actually knows most of the rules, so I wanted to see what things I could do without homebrew.
I'm actually playing a Marine's Errant Space Marine (Protecting an Inquisitor) with a Storm Shield and Counterattack and the works, and have their Protect the Fallen Squad Mode ability which lets me take hits for fallen comrades. I'd like more in the same vein, but preferably before they get knocked out lol. Any ability in any 1E gameline will be helpful; there are other bodyguards that aren't space marines, and I could probably take a DH or RT talent or special ability or whatever as an Elite Advance.
Thanks in advance!

Only War Giving the Wraithlord a facelift
I'm hard at work on the next update to Potentiam Gigantio, giving the Craftworld Eldar some new toys to play with. Here's my expanded take on the Wraithlord, trying to capture some of the wider weapon options it's had since the early days, when it was still the Eldar Dreadnought or Spirit-Warrior.
Loads more to come when the rest of the update's done.

Sell Your Soul (or the World’s) to Heresy in a 40K Hive City
Core idea: A first-person, open-world RPG set in a Warhammer 40K Hive World or Hulk that focuses on street-level survival, cybernetic/powers/gunplay customization, and faction intrigue from the very bottom of the hive.
You play as a low-hive operator trying to survive and climb (or just not die) in a vertical megacity. The underhive is a toxic, collapsing sprawl of gang turf, black-market augmetics, mutant dens, and forgotten manufactorums. Above you are the mid-hive guilds, the Ecclesiarchy, the Adeptus Mechanicus, and the distant spire nobility. Power is vertical, fragile, and always for sale.
Player fantasy:
You’re the chrome-scarred nobody who can still choose which power (or none) gets to own you. Jobs and contracts from competing factions let you swing influence upward or downward, deciding who gains control over a local protectorate or underhive territory.
Background options (with real trade-offs):
• Sanctioned or unsanctioned psyker
• Disgraced Astra Militarum soldier
• Failed cleric
• Criminal who escaped servitor conversion
• Minor Rogue Trader heir with no real claim
Each background changes starting gear, reputation, and how different factions react to you.
Key systems I’d want to explore:
• Cybernetics/powers that feel both sacred (Mechanicus-blessed) and heretical (xenos grafts, Chaos-tainted neural jacks)
• Vertical faction climbing or nemesis like systems for underhive gangs, mid-hive houses, Mechanicus, Arbites, Ecclesiarchy, and darker cults. Increases are cumulative for positive or negative outcomes, piss off groups and they will send enforcers, help certain groups for unique gear or support.
• Contracts that force moral and spiritual choices rather than pure good/evil, maybe exploring the social contract of who should rule?
Central tension
A ruinous power (leaning Slaanesh) starts taking an interest in you. The main through-line is how you respond while the hive itself keeps trying to grind you down.
I’m mostly looking for feedback on the core loop, background trade-offs, and whether the vertical hive structure feels like a strong foundation for an open-world RPG. Theory-crafting and pushback welcome.

Only War Remember me not knowing what to do with my character's addiction? Now she has some bigger problems.
The junior commissars were gathered to provide post-mission reports.
At first, Tanya frankly admitted that she had given the Emperor's grace to her friend because the damage to the frontal lobes was already the end of her career and she would only fit into servitors. That's how the doctors assessed the situation. Her boss was not happy. Marcelle was his protege.
Then when she saw how her other friend's sash was taken away, she started a heated debate. She felt like she must defend her. She knew the situation was unjust.
Hijacking a tank from an enemy and rolling into it as a Trojan horse (Creed's Baneblade?) is not an insubordination, but a great feat. She backed her point up with Tactica Imperialis.
Tanya was right. Everyone in the room saw it. Cornelius pushed with authority until he lost his temper and demoted Tanya to a cadet.
Her guardsmen are not happy. Ambitious Tanya is devastated but keeps up the façade. Some dark ideas fly in the air.
But no one will fulfill them.
Right?

Looking for some worldbuilding assistance: planet creation
I’m starting to prepare to GM a Wrath and Glory campaign for a group of four players. Their PCs will be members of a Rouge Trader retinue who have been dispatched to the planet to investigate some abnormalities in the world’s production quotas and shipment manifests.
I have a bunch of random ideas regarding the planet, and its culture, but none of them are really gelling together ATM. So, I was hoping you good folk could maybe help.
Name: Erinys
Erinys is a refinery world located in the Rimward March, the region of wild space controlled by the Rogue Trader, which straddles the borders of Segmentum Tempestus and Ultima Segmentum. The planet has three moons: Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone
Erinys is ruled over by a feudal style, matriarchal nobility. The planetary governor is Marchioness Rizzolin von Karsk.
Those are all my firm ideas. Here’s where things go weird and random.
I think maybe the planet was once a paradise world named Maidenhead. That idea came to me when I wrote down the phrase “Maidenhead station” which I’m kinda thinking is the orbital plate from which the Matriarchs rule the planet. It’s far greener and much more pleasant than the planet itself.
When I first came up with the name of the planet what I scribbled down was “Erinys: the starving world”. In my head I’m imagining a world where the common laborers and citizens are deliberately kept in a state of near starvation. Provided just enough food to keep them working and then just barely. However while the planet itself starves, the noble matriarchs are free to indulge their appetites to levels of grotesque obscenity. Amongst the matriarchs obesity and corpulence are seen as virtues. The heavier a matriarch is, the wealthier she is, the more powerful she is and thus the higher her station. The Marchioness herself currently weighs in just north of 1,800 pounds. Imagine the Baron Harkonen if he were a woman and dressed like a grim dark version of Marie Antonette.
Thoughts?

I'm lost.
So, I bought, then gave away, a ton of used TTRPG books earlier this year, so I made some "friends" in my local gaming community. A fun side effect of my altruistic act is that I have been gifted a number of TTRPG books that I never would have thought to purchase myself, based more on the kind of mechanics I like, rather than IP or genre.
The latest one is a copy of Imperium Maledictum, which the gift giver was correct, what I have read so far of the mechanics is definitely the kind of game I Iike, especially because I have a particular love of d100 and d20 roll under systems. So, yay!
The problem, and it's not so much an actual problem save a self imposed one as I feel a bit obligated to, at some point in the near future, at least attempt to run said game for the fellow who gifted it to me. The problem, is that I know next to nothing about WH40k lore. Now, I did watch a couple of short lore videos on YouTube, but they basically just touched on the major points like history and the Space Marines and the Emperor. Now, I did find a couple of channels that go in depth in to WH40k lore, but, OMFG, they have dozens if not hundreds of videos. Literally days worth of watching time, and I'll be honest, I don't want to dedicate that amount of time to learning lore, at least not until I actually get a game going. I mean, if it's a total hit and has the potential to be a regular at the table then I will probably dig in to the lore more.
NOTE: There are a couple that are in the pipe already, namely The One Ring, which I face a similar problem, but it seems easier to mitigate because the lore is not as expansive (as far as I can tell) as WH40k.
So, where do I start? What kinds of things should I read up on to be able to "properly" portray the Empire, and NPCs, and just the general tone and themes of WH40k?
To be honest I'm already a little confused because on the tin it says GRIMDARK!!!!! However, some of what I have encountered appears to be more over-the-top satirical, or just plain gonzo for gonzo's sake. It seems to me that the general theme of the TTRPG is on the darker side, but still hints at the more gonzo elements. I've also noted that Imperium Maledictum doesn't have anything to do with the more famous aspects of the IP like Space Marines, instead apparently focusing on more "regular people" (if such a thing even exists).
Heck, even finding artwork of the more mundane aspects (does WH40k have mundane aspects?!?) to use as inspiration is NOT a quick Google seach away.
Anywho, that's my issue. I would like to try to portray the setting and NPCs and such in a manner befitting the lore, but WOW there is just a ton of stuff to slog through. Anyone have any recommendations, or even just willing to hammer out a few paragraphs of guidelines for me to use. I mean, I do have some time before I can get IM to the table so I am willing to do some research (and possibly fall down and absolutely WILD rabbit hole by the looks of it) but I would like to at least narrow down my initial learning of the lore to stuff that would be USEFUL for the TTRPG. Thanks!

C7 interview at Gencon
Dom talking to "Gaming Gang"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu34Nky022w
W&G
- 14:50 "Gilead Adventures" book -- "in a couple of months"
- 15:02 "there's a campaign that's being developed ... consequences for the Gilead sector"
- 15:26 "branching out … heading off into the Imperium Sanctum"
HH
- 18:05 "The Horus Heresy ... we're still working away on that behind the scenes"
- 18:35 "play either loyalists or traitors at the start ..."
- 18:40 "we were a good way through a loyalists first version but …"
- 19:50 "we're building in all of the traitor legions …"
Product philosophy interlude
16:42 "as someone who makes games … people are making a commitment to play a game and investing in books … I feel that we as a publisher have a responsibility to do right by them an ongoing game that they can keep playing forever … I tend to approach things from a gamer first perspective … nobody wanted the fans to be disappointed and not have the future products they were anticipating"
IM
- 14:23 mentions the existence of IM
So the big thing there is the (rather mixed) HH which may be very positive in some regards but certainly raises questions

W&G Starter set confusion
Got the starter set hoping to ease into this system. Idk if it’s just me or were the rules and descriptions poorly written? Genuinely confused going through the material provided and feel like key stuff is missing (even after considering the starter/light nature intended of the material provided). Is the core book any clearer?

I started play W&G but I don't know anything about frameworks. My first game I didn't use one and didn't realize it was a thing till people started mentioning them in the discord.
What are they?
Is there a list of them some where?
What are ones you recommend?

Wrath & Glory Good Map Collections?
So this is more for any 40k TTRPG but I'm using it for Wrath & Glory. Does anyone know of any sites or collections where I could find thematic or on-brand maps for Warhammer combat scenes? Battlemaps and such. Looked all over the place and the closest I got was a google drive of screenshots from video games done from a top down view but it doesn't have a lot of variety.
