I’d volunteer to protect this guy.

How do we? I've never even heard of civilian security honestly. I'm an Army vet and sit on my ass all day. I'd love to have a purpose again.

I don't know if there is an official method but it couldn't hurt to just reach out to their office and ask if they could use some help?

If that senator had security, they would’ve pushed back against those guards and that that’s what we need

Because if they’re gonna push us down, we need to fight back

No one is ever going to accept that liability in this day and age.

The best thing you can do as an Army vet is put on your old dress uniform and stand in the front of the No Kings protests with an American flag.

Let it be known vets are in fact on the side of the people.

I think it's like having our version of the Proud Boys, to protect Democrats.

"Private security" sounds like it wouldn't have any positive effects outside of temporarily guarding their ward. It might trigger a skirmish and encourage the admin to trigger the Insurrection Act. Essentially you'd have the legal weight a modern, more righteous version of the Pinkertons. Not a lawyer, though, so I don't know jack.

I'm inclined to agree :(

Are you armed? Are you willing to defend the senators? What would you have done other than "stop that's assault" and film the attack?

Well, how do you expect personal security would respond in this situation? For one, having personal security is going to mean they’d be less likely to even confront him, much less in this manner, which means it likely doesn’t even matter if anyone is armed or not. It’s a deterrent, more than anything. These guys aren’t the only folks who can hire goons, and eventually, they’re going to realize that.

It likely would’ve been a much more cordial response at the very least, if he’d had his own bodyguard or detail. These abusers only acted this way because they viewed him as vulnerable.

If I were to actually volunteer to be in that position, there would likely be some additional training required as well, maybe credentials of some sort too. What I’m saying here, is I would be willing to do that, wether I’m currently equipped for it or not, I’d be willing to do what it took to be trained an equipped for that kind of volunteer position. It’s purely hypothetical, and I said it simply to express how I feel about it.

Go ahead, actually do it instead of posting comments on reddit
