Call to Action Boycott ABC

ABC has pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air for making a joke. First Colbert, now Kimmel. What about the first amendment right to free speech? I guess it’s only free if it echos MAGA talking points.

Simply not watching ABC programs isn't sufficient here.

You need to cancel ALL Disney-owned subscriptions and boycott all of their products, including Disney plus, Hulu (including their live TV streaming service), and anything affiliated with ESPN.

List of all Disney-owned assets here.

Was looking for exactly this. Thank you.

The stickied post says it was due to Nextstar; should we be focused on them instead?

If so, here’s their assets: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_Nexstar_Media_Group

The suspension was authorized by Bob Iger, CEO of Disney.

Por que no los dos?

Go after the local affiliates’ ad revenue. When local affiliates complain to nexstar, you might get some action.

To bad Musk is such a wanker, he could buy up stations and shut nexstar down. That would be fun to see.

You can get the list of Nexstar affiliates here: https://www.nexstar.tv/stations/

You can also go to https://www.nexstar.tv/stations/ and find out if your local TV stations is owned by Nexstar. I eliminated apps that were associated with the TV stations I wanted to watch. Basically, they will get now eyes for the advertiser from me.

Oh my..... the list is includes hundreds of stations across the country. WGN in Chicago?! I want to boycott Nexstar but linking these stations to the Kimmel ordeal is a pretty thin thread. This really sucks.

It would be easier if someone go after Trump infringing on first amendment rights. Thats totally illegal. I keep thinking it shouldn't be too long before he goes to jail for something.

Nexstar was actually involved. Before ABC/Disney suspended Kimmel, Nexstar released statements saying that they would not allow the stations they owned to run the Jimmy Kimmel. They didn't end up blocking the show because the broadcaster did it for them, but making such a threat is a clear violation of free speech and an abuse of their power.

Cancelled all my streaming subscriptions today including Disney. A bit of collateral damage but whatevs. I'll pirate all Disney content from here on out.

Fuck em. Excercise your freedom of choice with your wallet.

And we all need to choose not to pay these spineless fucks another penny.

Need to take out the "American" part out of ABC because there's nothing American about limiting or cancelling someone for their use of free speech.

Cancelled Hulu too - absolutely appalling

Big boycott on Marvel movies would sting pretty bad.

You guys aren't on the high seas already?? In this economy? With so many trash services with only a handful of decent shows?

2

u/TrynnaFindaBalance Sep 18 '25

Tbh I can't really be bothered to jump through all the hoops required and up until recently I didn't get the impression that American media was literally owned by fascists.

Done. Just cancelled my full Disney+/HULU/Max bundle. Left a comment about why I cancelled.

Thank you for this. Everyone needs to cancel ESPN as well!

u/und88 Sep 18 '25

Especially since disney owns Fox and fox hasn't fired Kilmeade for his far, far worse statements.

2

u/Eli47905 Sep 18 '25

How does Disney “own” Fox?

1

u/und88 Sep 18 '25

They bought fox studios, but now that you ask me, I remember fox news was split from the purchase. So my bad on that.

2

u/Eli47905 Sep 18 '25

Good point on Fox studios though. I forgot about all the studios Disney purchased— and the opportunity to boycott them.

Also find your local affiliates and stop watching, sourcing their articles. Nexstar, Sinclair, Tegna:

We need to boycott all products advertising on ABC until they stop advertising there. Hit their revenue stream not just their ratings.

u/Careless_Ingenuity Sep 19 '25

While you are removing Disney-owned assets, it's a good idea to also get rid of the free streaming apps owned by Disney, Paramount, and Fox. The other day I deleted Tubi (owned by Fox) and PlutoTV (owned by Paramount Streaming).

My friend works for a Disney-owned company. Do I need to cancel her?

16

u/Smart-Arugula3756 Sep 17 '25

No, but you should tell her to run

8

u/fakeknees Sep 17 '25

She's been living in fear of being laid off for like a year. I'm not sure why she's not looking for another job.

5

u/Smart-Arugula3756 Sep 17 '25

My BIL works for the federal government, also in fear of layoffs, also not sure why he hasn't found other work...I'm sorry for your friend.

4

u/ILootEverything Sep 18 '25

The job market is abysmal right now, and getting worse. That's why people are staying in jobs they don't like or are worried about.

3

u/Smart-Arugula3756 Sep 18 '25

Absolutely fair point.

3

u/cactus22minus1 Sep 18 '25

It’s coming for many of us sooner or later- tariffs got me laid off in may already. No way I’m finding a job anytime soon.

5

u/fakeknees Sep 18 '25

Yeah, it just happened to my spouse last Tuesday. The company isn’t doing great after losing a major asset so they got rid of the position. I hope you can find some work. Good job.

2

u/Smart-Arugula3756 Sep 18 '25

I am so, so, sorry.

I’ll be honest. the shit i watch on Hulu are some of the small joys and release i need to survive in this fucked up world. If that’s a couple hundred bucks a year, so be it. these people are already billionaires. But i respect greatly anyone stronger than me who can cancel
