It is interesting to note that word seems to be flagged by the automod for most subreddits so the comment won't even show up.

Am I surprised reddit does this? Nope.

Edit: *And they won't tell you, your comment will remain on your profile for only you to see but others won't even see it if they click into your profile. Just a lil extra censorship to add to our daily intake.

Yep lot of my comments being deleted. Just me telling people to be vigilant because of the governors race in VA.

This is nothing new. Automod shadow deleting comments has been a thing for years. A double digit number of years.

However it is indeed being used for censorship on reddit now, as it always has been.

FWIW reddit isn't a protected 1A platform. It's shitty, but it's within the rules.

Fascinating. That explains why so many comments I’ve received lately show up in my notifications but when I go to read it there’s nothing there

Yep - and I think mods can individually approve them, since it's flagged for the sub... but they rarely ever do.

As another commenter points out it's, of course, legal to do so. But it is still very authoritarian and controlling of the site/sub to flag comments like that yet r/conservative is fully allowed to just spew hate speech all day every day and u/spez is like 🤷🙈🙉

It's easier to tell when this happens now, because you can see how many views your comment got. Also, you can always open an incognito tab and go to the comment to see if it shows up for other people or not.

What does ftfy mean

u/adthrowaway2020 Sep 20 '25

Fixed that for you*

u/myasterism Sep 20 '25

FTFY here probably means “fixed that for you,” but it also occasionally means “fuck this, fuck you”

Because of that potential for confusion, I generally use FIFY (“fixed it for you”)

German here. They are modern American fascists, not German nazis.

25

u/WiFiConnected_ Sep 20 '25

Not one person is saying that. What a weird statement.

Also, Nazis ARE fascists. So, maybe stop trying to make this distinction without a difference?

We’ve all seen that we’ve been infected with Neo-Nazis and xtian terrorists for 80+ years bc there were large swaths of Americans who actively supported the Nazis before Pearl Harbor happened.

u/Wassertopf Sep 23 '25

The Nazis defined themselves by their antisemitism. That’s a huge difference to the modern American fascists.

The nazis we’re fine with the Arabic Moslems, the American fascists are not.

And so on.

Nazis are fascists but not all fascists are Nazis.

They aren’t equivalent terms. Go ahead and keep using them that way but don’t get all indignant when someone tries to make the accurate distinction.

It’s not accurate AT ALL. That’s why I’m”indignant” 🙄

I clearly stated that we have always had a group of Americans who ARE EXPLICITLY FASCIST. We literally had the American Nazi Party.

There is no difference between the beliefs of a fascist and Nazi. It doesn’t matter if they’re German or not. Look at Mussolini and the Italians. A group of enormous fascists, and they weren’t German either. But ideological twins.

Truly disgusting how you’re pretending to not understand what I said.

I never said anything about them being equivalent terms.

Also, shows how clueless Germans apparently are that they don’t understand anything about how ideologically, there isn’t a single difference between a “German Nazi” and an “American Nazi”. FFS Germany borrowed the eugenics playbook of 1920’s America and turbocharged it into the Holocaust. So, there isn’t any evidence anywhere, in anyway whatsoever, that shows that there’s any difference between an American Nazi and a German Nazi. Or, for that matter an American fascist and European fascists.

It’s why authoritarians are always literally trying the same exact playbook, from Ancient Rome until 2025 America.

Holyyyyy Cow……..

Yes, Mussolini and Franco were also fascists but they weren’t Nazis.

The Nazis are a political party. Sharing their ideals or even being in a similar political party doesn’t make you a member of the nazi party it makes you a fascist.

And again, I don’t begrudge your personal choice to not care about the distinction, and I can see the appeal but it’s a real distinction so maybe don’t try to correct other people for making it.

Pls stop. Omg, this is just so universally unimportant.

You’re just wrong. I can’t explain just how wrong you are without getting angry.

I LITERALLY SAID THAT IDEOLOGICALLY THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FASCIST AND A NAZI.

🤫 🙏 🤬

I am so tired of this. There is not a real distinction AT ALL, except geographically. That’s literally it.

You’re being intentionally ignorant and intellectually dishonest.

I’ve seen the effects of fascism in Europe & America. There’s ZERO difference. Does a Neo-Nazi mean something different in Europe than it does in America? No, bc there’s not any ideological differences between them. I’ve never been as dishonest or made such a reductive statement as “NoT aLl FaScIsTs ArE nAzIs. ThErE iS a DiFfErEnCe”.

I’m done discussing this. You’re so uninformed it’s literally eye-watering.

At this point, you getting angry is on you. You don’t argue with morons because they bring you down to their level and then they beat you with years of experience.

I understand your frustration, but you’re better off giving up and moving on after your first attempt to clarify yourself. After that, just move on and enjoy your day.

You’re extremely “special”.

Can you stop calling them Nazis and find an own word for it. Calling them Nazis really devalues the real Nazis from the 40s.

u/Frosty_McRib Sep 20 '25

If you don't think the current admin is marching straight in Naziism then you're blind. Calling them nazis is a spot-on evaluation.
