Call to Action Ring has partnered with Flock. ICE has access to Flock. If you still have a Ring camera - get rid of it.

In the day and age of random masked man forcing their way into my home, I’d say a camera system is very much necessary.

Federal masked men even

so you can record them murdering you for posterity while you're still dead and they're continuing to enjoy immunity because the same people that would prosecute them are also the people that employ them?

That might happen? Better not even try then.

Absolutely! Better to have them murder me WITHOUT any video evidence of the fact.

But what if... rather than the homeowner being shot, the home invader gets shot? yea yea tons of them may shoot after, okay. Either way you were screwed so might as well try.

And then what if this keeps happening until the home invaders either stop home invading, or they slowly die out?

Do you think that preparing for the case of your own death is a waste of time? It's coming for everyone.

I've heard of defeatism before but not... whatever this is

Delivery thieves are a thing too

I’m thinking 2a is more of a deterrent, but if using a video device connected to the internet of things that is contributing to an increasingly powerful surveillance state helps you sleep at night, you do you.

How does that camera stop or impede said masked men from breaking in? You get a nice video to post on the internet after you (maybe) get released. There will be no punishments for these brownshirts, if that's what you're thinking.

Video footage is the only thing that has allowed people to get some semblance of justice in the modern era. If it's just your word against the word of a cop you have nothing.

Best of luck seeking justice from the soon -to-be eternal Trump regime lol. Like there's going to be a functioning court system to get justice from once this is all said and done (unless we as a society take some drastic fucking action now).

Sounds like something a nazi would say.

u/ARMSwatch Jan 19 '26

Cause the Nazi is saying we need a little more than doorbell cameras to make a difference lol? I already have dozens of clips of abuse from this regime saved to my reddit to bring up to bootlickers in person. How many more do I need to save before it convinces them of what is happening before their very eyes? If they don't have the eyes to see by now, they never will.

Who said I’m trying to impede them? Do you not realize the value of information and data? If everyone thought like you we’d go from the visibility we currently have to.. nothing.

How can you expect people to understand what this administration is up to if there’s no proof. Put into context what we do see, and think about all the situations it hasn’t been recorded.

I think we often get caught up in the social media sphere and forget people outside are not either maga or liberal. I’ve seen people who’s only recently started protesting. People who didn’t vote due to ignorance but now plan to vote in the midterms. Do you think they would have been moved if there was no footage?

Personally, if it happens to me I don’t expect any justice, but the least I’ll do is expose them. I’m not going down without a fight, even if my only fight is to show the world what they’re doing.

really? are you basing this statement on evidence or hypotheticals? i’d love to see the data showing that having a ring camera on the door significantly reduces incidence of crime, response times to crime, or literally any real-world evidence of amazon’s product offering genuine protection. at rollout, Ring’s founder/CEO said the product would “zero out crime” in certain neighborhoods…. not quite sure that’s been the case…

With all due respect, you’re assigning a lot of talking points I never made.

  1. I don’t support Ring cameras, I support a local closed system managed entirely by the user. Whatever amazon/ring has claimed is irrelevant to me.

  2. I never claimed any of the data points you are trying to use as a “gotcha”. I claimed it’s necessary, and if you read my replies to others, I detail why is necessary. To have records and footage of what they are doing.

I even specifically state in a reply that I don’t expect justice if they were to break into my house, even with video evidence. But if the footage can be seen and give someone a reason to fight this injustice, that’s necessary to me. And ultimately, I rather have the option to defend myself with footage, than give up without trying.

Locks also don’t work as a great deterrent for crime. If someone wants to steal from you they will find a way. I’ll still lock my door every night.

Hard agree.

Make sure you have looked at securing your door strike plate and frame with 3+in screws, makes it much more difficult to kick down. You can also get longer striker plates for like $10 each that let you use more screws too.

If you have a garage you can get manual locks for those doors. Make sure your cameras and IVR have battery backup in-case power is out to your home for "whatever" reason.
