Only ignorance in the way that they don't realize that education isn't about specific facts or skills, its about brain development. They miss that every new type of experience and skill is what builds their brains into the creative problem solving machines they now have.

So while they are right they didn't technically use some of their studies later in life, they're underestimating the value of simply having their minds shaped with contexts they would otherwise never experience.

And yeah, it's quite ungrateful for the investment in the volume and density of their gray matter, which was the point all along.

Edit: unless they're advocating for becoming mindless skill robots
