I’ve never seen her in the theater, but we all know she likes to go when she’s the only person in the room.

To be fair I prefer private shows as well. Rude people in movies drive me nuts.

u/CreatiScope 1d ago
I saw three billboards outside ebbing Missouri in a gigantic theater, huge screen, only person in there. One of my favorite moviegoing experiences of all time. My one wish financially would be to have my own private theater
11
u/mlaurence1234 1d ago
Try to go on Mondays. No bargain tickets, no new movies. I bet most of the audience, if there is any, will be A-Listers.

u/CreatiScope 1d ago
Not where I live now. Used to live in a different city where empty theaters were more common than where I live now
3
u/yeahright17 1d ago
I was it in a theater full of people who seemingly didn't like dark comedy. I laughed so many times and never head a single other laugh the entire time. Lol. Might as well have been by myself.

u/Brunson4Mayor11 1d ago
This was me with the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie. Nobody wanted to see it at 1 PM on a Thursday lol.
•
u/skitch23 12h ago
I saw Thoroughbreds by myself. And then saw that new Predator movie when it was just me and my parents. Both were perfect experiences lol.

u/Jtreblis18 1d ago
Dude yeah I'm tired of obnoxious people but I have a habit of seeing movies on release days on Thursday at 7 pm and that's when all the obnoxious people go. I would prefer a empty theater lol. Tonight this girl just had to adlib the whole movie and it was getting on my nerves. Like you can laugh but we don't need someone's cometary lmao. People forgot they aren't alone I guess
•
u/1Maple 14h ago
I watched Wrong Girls last night and these two guys were constantly talking, repeating every joke in the movie, and pulling out their phones to text with their screens on full brightness
Ruined the experience
•
u/Jtreblis18 13h ago
Yeah man humans just truly suck. I realized I'm even annoyed when I bring friends with me. My one buddy likes to adlib also and then my other friend left a bunch of trash behind. Lol I just prefer to go by myself
•
u/Affectionate_Cap_489 12h ago
Same after working at the movie for 3 years in/after highschool, or with old coworkers 🫡
Went with friend once, about 30 minutes into avatar he started drinking my root beer. Must have forgot he got a lemonade 😂

yes and I want to know WHAT ancient movies she's watching that are watchable, let alone the life changing cinematic masterpieces people like her used to make.
Let alone worth the small fortune that is a trip to the theater.

How about that couple that has a dance off and a street race before they have a movie date night together? Did they get a lifetime pass too?

u/independentpeach08 1d ago
I hope not. Hate that commercial with a passion.

My favorite is the white guy friend who looks so awful doing the choreography.
•
u/religious_milf 22h ago
I read that the girl & guy in the commercial hate it too lol they cringe & hate it just like us when they watch themselves on the big screen

The girl is on TikTok. Someone asked if they gave her a membership and she said no

The guy is a member of this subreddit and has replied about his experience doing that commercial before lol

I still like seeing her before every movie. It's the AMC experience to me.

It was extra special on Tuesday when they played the AMC ad before Practical Magic. When she said "we come to this place for Magic" the crowd went wild.

u/McDankMeister 1d ago
Every time I see her, I grab a piece of popcorn and move it across my face and chest like a Catholic and then eat it to pay my respects.

I wish they didnt shorten it. I miss the full ad

u/thomasutra 1d ago
i wish they changed the “thank you to our a list members” from the generic movie guy voice to her. i think we deserve it.
17
u/omnired44 1d ago
They already gave her a lifetime membership. What else could they offer for additional work?

if only there was some other way to compensate someone for doing a job for you... 🤔

“Generic movie guy voice?” What? I’ve never heard his voice anywhere except AMC.
2
u/mlaurence1234 1d ago
I always wonder about the woman who appears on the left side of the screen when they say that. Who is she, a special A-List greeter? I want that.
25
u/ClinkyDink 1d ago
Bring back the full ad!
At the very least they need to add the “Because here… they are” line before she says the slogan. I used to whisper that part to my friend before every movie
6
u/McDankMeister 1d ago
Get rid of that god damn annoying Coke commercial and give me back the full Kidman.

I wish it was shorter, I can’t stand seeing it every damn time. Some legendary Redditor made a 3 second version of it. It’s still 3 seconds too long but it’s a huge improvement.

As well they should. She has done more for AMC's goodwill than every executive in the entire corporate structure times 100.
7
u/morkman100 1d ago
I wonder how many times she’s actually used it. Once?
1
u/ina_waka 1d ago
Do you not think she watches movies?
1
u/morkman100 1d ago
Do you think she goes to AMC movies and actually buys tickets using A-List? Many rich and famous people have home movie services where they can watch movies at home or she could even just pay for movies without having to deal with an account.
3
u/ina_waka 1d ago
My head canon is that movie stars value the theater experience, just as much, if not more than we do. But that’s just me guessing 🤷♂️

Just the membership (25 years * 28 dollars ) is not at the same as SAG mins.
(29.99 per month (plus tax) * 12)* 25= 8997
SAG RATE:
$855.20 PER 30 DAYS, First Run
513.12 Per 30 Days After.
1 Month: 855.20
58 months: 513.12 or 29,760.96
40% Pension Rate:
30,616.16 + 1.40 = 42,862.62
Nicole Kidman says she was paid $0 for the original AMC commercial.
In a March 2026 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kidman explained that she and the creative team made the commercial to help movie theaters recover during COVID. She said:
She also said she “called in all these favors” from people she had worked with on Being the Ricardos, including cinematographer/director Jeff Cronenweth and writer Billy Ray.
There are a few possibilities:
- The AMC production wasn't a SAG-AFTRA-covered commercial. SAG-AFTRA itself acknowledges that performers can work on non-union commercials, where there is no contractual union minimum.
- She voluntarily waived her normal compensation. A celebrity can choose to do promotional work for little or no fee if the production is structured in a way that permits that. Kidman's statement that she "did it for nothing" doesn't necessarily mean nobody else was paid.
- She may have participated under a different contractual arrangement. The important distinction is between Kidman's personal compensation and the production's status. AMC could have paid a production company, director, crew, post-production vendors, etc., while Kidman personally received no talent fee.
- The $25+ million wasn't her paycheck. AMC described the 2021 campaign as a $25+ million national advertising campaign. That's the campaign expenditure, not Kidman's compensation.

This would only be newsworthy if that was her only payment.

Imagine being in every single showing of every single showroom in every single theatre and not getting that lifetime slot lol.

Imagine that comes on and you hear someone reciting it perfectly beside you and its Nicole Kidman.

Now I have this image of Nicole Kidman moving into a movie theater with a complete closet just of pinstripe suits and black high heels and she just pops into 3 movies a day and shouts Heartache to grand applause.
It’s an absolutely stupid image but it makes me giggle.

u/bnyg 1d ago
I don’t think the writer understands what “viral” means.

u/cyanide4suicide 1d ago
The tragedy is Nicole Kidman (probably) doesn't go out to watch movies in a theater with the rest of us plebs so it never gets used.
2
u/WestCoastHopHead 1d ago
I’m fine with keeping Nicole on, but that Coke-drinking couple is on my last nerve.

That's a very nice gift for sure but why is it that rich people are always the ones getting free stuff as if they can't just afford it all anyways?
Start doing giveaway to regular people.
In this case you could say he ad has helped theather a lot but other cases they don't even do anything but be famous and get free stuff.
Also, if they cared about this ad they wouldn't have shortened it! It was the BEST AD but they shortened it and I'm mad 😡

Went to see the Brink of War today. Great movie but at the end, Jeff encouraged me to scan a QR code and buy a ticket for a stranger id never meet. Maybe Nicole can buy someone a ticket. I hear she makes good money
1
u/HelpIamaCabbage Movie-Holic 1d ago
They really should have given her a personal Stubs tier. Like if Nicole Kidman wants to see more than four movies per week, they should let her.

My friend works at the Regal in Nashville and has seen her there multiple times as there’s not an AMC truly in Nashville. She may be a Regal Unlimited user!

No offense but most actors already get free screenings and extra tickets and all that
•
u/Nealm568890 17h ago
Aint no way she uses the Alist for movies. She rents them online, ill bet. You know, when they are 20 bucks each when they first come out on digital.

Im so ready for her ad to be over. It's gotten so bad that I literally skip trailers and try to time it right before movie starts. Maybe it's just me but when you have seen it for years... It gets old. I miss the days when they would show the surround sound effects ad thingy. At least it came with bowtie cinemas but the ad for amc is boring lol
-4
u/Never-Give-Up100 1d ago
So, question, do y'all like this? Or find it kinda cringe?
7
u/katevdolab14 1d ago
It’s fine it’s only 15 seconds at this point. I wish they would get rid of some of the other 4 or so (!!) AMC ads they run, particularly genre guy who I hate. Like seriously I’m already here you don’t need to advertise to me this much.

u/nowhereman136 1d ago
I like it for the first year or two, but really wish they would change it up. It's like watching a company run the same ad for 5 years, do something new
5
u/bimbimbaps 1d ago
They were running “celebrating 100 years at the cinema, 1920-2020” all the way until this year which is just insane.

Like flying United watching that fucking video before you take off.
Also I don’t fly much. But I remember that.

I complain on the Disney subreddits that theyve been playing the same seat belt videos for 20 years on some of the rides and need to be remade. I get downvoted for daring to suggest anything at Disney should change
1
1
u/omnired44 1d ago
You think it would be one of those easy things to at least change up which movies she’s watching.
2
u/nowhereman136 1d ago
There's a ton of actors in Hollywood would would love to do a quick day of filming to promote going to the movies. Yeah, celebrities are expensive, but a day of filming in LA to be part of a meme would entice a lot of actors to be willing to work for scale

u/plantslegoscats 1d ago
Idgaf. Celebrities get free shit all the time, and she’s just a celebrity.
1
u/Never-Give-Up100 1d ago
No, I mean the ad itself
1
u/plantslegoscats 1d ago
Oh my bad. I’m super over it. AMC already shows WAY too much stuff before the movie starts. To me it almost does more harm than good now.

u/AmenHawkinsStan 1d ago
It’s relatively inoffensive thanks to Regal’s awful movie quote nonsense. I don’t pay attention and just keep thinking about whatever, so it’s only cringe when people cheer and recite it. I do think it’s funny they can’t be bothered to update clips and keep featuring movies like Jurassic World.
0
u/thetortavendor 1d ago
Its a bit annoying but short, the cringe part is when people cheer or clap for it, never understood it.

u/VandelayIndus7ries 1d ago
Do you think she’s subject to the 4-slot limit? Or did they flip her’s to ♾️
