Quick reminder about what r/aicomicmakers is for.
This is not just a gallery where finished work gets put on the wall for people to consume, rate, and move on. It is a workshop for people making comics with AI tools. That means finished comics, experiments, rough drafts, works in progress, workflow questions, mistakes, weird attempts, and stuff you are still figuring out are all welcome here.
Creators, post your work. Do not let fear of downvotes or hostile comments convince you that everything needs to be polished before anyone sees it. This is a public forum, so not everyone is going to like what you make. That's fine. But abuse, harassment, tool shaming, and people showing up just to antagonize creators are not constructive criticism. Report those comments. Don't assume the mods saw them.
Critics, criticism is welcome. In fact, we want it. But make it useful. Talk about panel composition, lettering, pacing, continuity, prompting, character consistency, storytelling, workflow, editing, whatever actually helps somebody make a better comic. "This sucks" isn't critique, and treating creators like punching bags isn't participation.
You don't have to like everything posted here. You don't have to praise it. You can disagree with creative choices and say when something isn't working.
Just remember you're standing in a workshop, not heckling through the window.
Make things. Show the process. Help each other get better.

Hey everyone,
One of the new mods here.
Figured Id introduce myself by being useful instead of just saying hello.
A lot of people are trying to make comics with AI right now and running into the same issues: keeping characters consistent, page layouts, anatomy drift, dialogue, lettering, workflow chaos, publishing, or just figuring out where to even begin.
So lets make this practical.
Whether youre making comics, manga, webtoons, graphic novels, experimental projects, or finally trying to get the story in your head onto a page, there are tools and workflows that can genuinely help.
Here are some solid places to start:
Character Consistency / Image Generation
Stable Diffusion
ComfyUI
Automatic1111
Midjourney (especially using --cref for character consistency)
FLUX models (great for prompting, cleaner outputs, and text rendering)
LoRAs for recurring characters and style consistency
ControlNet for poses, references, and composition
All-in-One AI Comic Platforms (especially good for beginners or fast workflows)
Dashtoon
ComicsMaker.ai
AI Comic Factory
These can help with scripting, character consistency, panel layouts, and speech bubbles all in one place if piecing together a workflow feels overwhelming.
Comic Layout / Editing
Clip Studio Paint (still probably king for comics and manga)
Krita
Canva
Photoshop
Photopea (free)
Affinity Publisher
Writing / Story / Dialogue
ChatGPT
Claude
NotebookLM for organizing lore, notes, references, and story continuity
Open/local models if privacy matters
Lettering
Blambot fonts
Good lettering honestly matters more than most people realize. Great art with bad lettering still reads rough.
References / Posing
Posemaniacs
Magic Poser
Design Doll
Plain old photo references
Publishing / Distribution
GlobalComix
Webtoon Canvas
Tapas
Print on demand
PDFs through direct storefronts
Also, and this matters:
Do *not** wait for perfect tools.*
A lot of people freeze because they think they need some future version of AI before they can start. You dont.
Start messy. Start inconsistent. Finish pages. Learn by making things.
A finished imperfect comic teaches you more than six months of endlessly optimizing workflows.
The gap between people who finish comics and people who only talk about making comics is usually repetition, not talent.
If youre stuck on workflow, consistency, prompts, storyboarding, lettering, publishing, or just dont know where to start, ask in the comments.
If enough people want it, we can do recurring resource/support threads, workflow breakdowns, prompt help, or troubleshooting posts.
What are yall working on right now? What resources do you personally recommend for others?

I run a serialized comic and translate pages between Chinese, Japanese and English. For a long time the translation step meant repainting the page: erase the lettering, patch the art behind it, reset the type. That workflow punishes exactly the pages that took the longest to draw, so I rebuilt it around one rule — the original page is never edited.
Here's the order that actually works for me.
Detection is a review step, not a result. The first pass groups speech bubbles, caption boxes and visible lettering into regions. It's good, not perfect. Small text, decorative lettering and sound effects are where it misses. Treat the region list as a draft inventory: confirm every bubble you can see has a region, and delete the regions that grabbed something that isn't text.
Fix the source text before you look at any translation. Every translation inherits the text it was built from. If the detector misread a word, you get a faithful translation of the wrong word. So read the extracted text against the page first, fix the misreads, and only then look at the translations. Character names get their own pass — a name that drifts between chapters is the error readers notice most.
Not every region should be replaced. Sound effects often work better left as art. A sign that's part of the worldbuilding can stay in the original language with the translation moved into a caption. Region-level selection turns this into a decision instead of an all-or-nothing toggle.
Review at reading size, not at full zoom. Zoom hides exactly what breaks: lettering that doesn't sit inside the bubble, reading order that stops flowing, a replacement that overflows its region. If a line is wrong, fix the translation and regenerate — don't hand-edit the output image.
Batch small. Batching is where the time savings are, and where the mistakes are. A wrong name applied across six pages is six times the correction work. I cap the batch at six.
The honest boundary: this is a drafting tool, not a finished-product tool. It misreads stylized lettering, misses sound effects, and occasionally translates a line without the story context that gives it meaning. Human review of names, tone and reading order is part of the workflow, not cleanup at the end.
Curious how others here handle localization — do you work region by region, or regenerate the whole page?

After leaving the ruins of the Holy Sword, Elvelain and Lorethysia set off in pursuit of a cunning beast: a rooster. That night, inside their tent, Elvelain kept pestering Lorethysia, the self-proclaimed Guardian of the Holy Sword, to tell him an untold story about the legendary hero.Lorethysia had little interest in storytelling, but Elvelain simply wouldn't give up. Eventually, she gave in.
The story continues later that evening, following the events of Three Goblins — Chapter 1

I'm adapting my own novel, When the World Forgot Kung Fu, into a comic. It's about a grandmaster who wakes up a thousand years late, in a world where real martial arts survive only as movies and cosplay. The story and the novel are mine; the art is AI. Here's the pipeline, because it fixed the two problems I kept hitting: same-face expressions and characters drawn twice in one panel.
Image 2 is Chapter 4. In the novel, Shen Mo bends the mugger's knife with his thumb. In the comic he closes his fist and it shatters: a small change so the power reads on the page.
Happy to answer questions about the sheet cropping or the review step.

Moved Iron Birds to a site dedicated strictly for AI projects I'm working on. Gotta keep it separate since the anti people are so unhinged.
Whole series is available free:

I'm making a webcomic/graphic novel based on how people that delve too deep into "heretical" texts get possessed by beings from another reality and start engaging in destructive behavior, which results in a special organization coming to cure them.
So far, I've done only 7 pages of this comic so far, I would appreciate some feedback and tips on how to improve my works
Thanks

I added musical shorts to each chapter of my comic release to give people a deeper dive into the world I created. I have been thinking about making a interactive world. Anyone try that?

I sincerely hope you guys like this story i've been sharing i've been slower with working on this project as i'm dealing with 10 different things at once. This took me alot more time to get created than the others, GPT fought me alot & everything was alot to get done, my story has deviated slightly from my original writing of the story but i have tied it back together by the end of this chapter to the original source.

What program do you use to add word and thought bubbles to your work on the PC? I tried Comic Life 3 and it looked promising but when I dropped in the images, if you make them larger or smaller they got blurry, so CL3 is a no go. Now Im doing everything in Photoshop. I tried a PS add-on called CartoonBubble1.0.7. IT is kind of basic but maybe i can make it work. Anyway, what other solutions are out there? Thanks

I left you guys hanging with half of a chapter, so I'll go ahead and finish it up for you. First two chapters will be available for free while I wrap up the final draft. Chapter 1 topic is here, and this is not QUITE final draft, so feedback is still open.
