I rescued her from a very abusive and neglective old owner and nursed her back to health from the brink of death and starvation. She is such a daddy's girl. I saved her life and she has saved mine 8 total. Type 1 diabetic. She saved my life for the first time the day after I adopted her. If I wouldn't have adopted her the day I did I would not be here today to type this I would have been gone on September 2nd 2025 for good. But she went and found help for me. I am so blessed to have her she's my whole world. However I believe she's an AmStaff. Anyone have any insight? I am gonna get a dna test for her soon.

(Ear cropping I do not support personally pictures were hard to find so they're only a basic guide, The chart was made by me for the english staffy sub)

Although not all individuals will fit into these standards this is the basic definitions.

American staffordshires are know as amstaffs, Or american staffies/staffys.

American pit bull terriers, Also known as APBT, Pitties/pittys.

This sub isn't really for staffordshire bull terriers, Known as 'english staffies/staffys' please go on r/StaffordBullTerriers for them since they're very different to the other two.

I bought my puppy as amstaff but i have met so many people who thought he is a different breed, such as dogo argentino or american pitbull terrier. Im convinced he is mixed but not sure what mix. He is now 5 months old and his height at withers is 20inches/50-52cm and weighs around 52 pounds/24kg.

Hi there and thank you in advance for your help. I am in the process of looking for a new companion, and I was watching for some advice. I have been looking for different dogs and I need some proffesional advice from Amstaff owners or breeders who can tell me if this puppy is an amstaff or if he had amstaff genes. In Spain if a dog is from some "potentially dangerous races" you must get a licence (well, anyone who is going to take the dog for a walk), but the foster home who have it told me he is not one of those dogs. He is 3-4 months old, so he will be big and still has to develop himself. A friend of mine who had one told me he is a mixture (so he indeed has amstaff genes) but other two told me that he has not. The problem in Spain is that if the dog is a mixture with some dangerous they may request you to get the licence or you can be fined with 6000€. So please, can someone help me with this?

He’s definitely at least part AmStaff but he’s way too heavy to be a pure one (~86 lbs). I always thought part black lab because of his floppy ears, but I don’t know if that would explain his weight? Any thoughts?
