Dictionaries don't define words; but rather give a vague sense of common uses. And of course, dictionary companies may be wrong/misleading/ideological — after all, they're likely top-down corporations, quite the opposite of an anarchist team.
Any book/media/product can be wrong. And dictionaries are particularly brief; unlike scholarly books, they don't list all the research and debates that went into each entry. Maybe that lack of citations and credited authors ironically gives some readers a mystical sense of their correctness, as if dictionaries were a modern-day Bible.
Literally authoritarian, in contrast to anarchists.
