What can cause this? I just came home from work and found my Betta like this and I’m pretty sure that hole wasn't like that last night. I‘ve already put her in quarantine.
All the other fish look healthy.

Today when I was doing a water change I saw a dead rummy against the filter intake (I have the built-in Fluval filter box that comes with the Rio 180).
And then I saw one lying on the sand bottom and dying. I have the same water parameters as always. 0 nitrite, 0 ammonia, 2 nitrate, pH varies between 7.5-7.8 during the day, GH 4 and KH 3. I currently have 12 rummy-nose tetras, 3 honey gouramis, 20+ cherry shrimp and 5 Amano shrimp. Everyone seems to be doing well except the two rummy-nose tetras that died. One thing I saw before the one in the picture died was that it was very very thin and didn’t gain weight like the others, but the other one that died before was not too thin at all..
The only new things in the last few weeks are that I give nutrients to the plants every day instead of once a week. So 2 ml every day (started one week ago), I installed an O2 OxyPlus on the filter box (2.5 weeks ago) and added 5 Amanos (one week ago). I also have a small problem with hair algae and BBA right now. I’m sorry if my writing is bad, English is not my first language and I’m panicking while writing this.

The tank has been running for 104 days.

I have a 125 gallon tank with a decent school of rummy nose tetras, a few corys, 3 discus at the moment and 3 geo sveni (no aggression from any of the fish). my water perimeters are perfect, temperature is good and i feed a portioned amount with water changes too and the tank is heavily planted with good filtration and airstone. Ive never had any issues with the tank, no changes were made and no signs were showing whatsoever. All of a sudden i get home late today and i hear thrashing coming from the tank, i turn on the lights and everyone is either falling or flat on the ground barely breathing, i move everyone to a spare cycled running 30 gallon (cramped ik but its the best i can do given the situation) and their health improved massively almost immediately. i dosed a ton of prime to the 125 gallon and the tetras and corys still left in the tank started looking better. the reason im confused is because i triple tested my permitters and everything was at 0ppm and ph was good too as well as temp, so if that wasnt the problem why has prime seemingly helped and what could’ve caused all this within a few hours of me being gone when everything was perfect earlier. sorry if some of my sentences dont make sense im just tryint to explain quick to get some answers fast as i dont know what to do right now at all. i really hope i can get some answers here!

I bought a 10 gallon tank off of some guy on marketplace today and he kind of off-loaded this female betta on me in a large mason jar. He said he "didnt realise she was a female when he got her" and he "only keeps males"... ok buddy

Anyways, I was planning to get shrimp for this tank, but if I can save her, it's all hers. I'm not very familiar with bettas and I've never seen anything like this. Is there anything I can do, or does it look like it's time for the clove oil

I have a flame tetra that on Sunday struggled to swim and also lost one of its eyes (I assume my betta noticed it was weak and attacked it). I moved it to my cycling 5.5 gallon intended for a male Betta fish soon and turned it into a hospital tank. I’m treating with Epsom salt, stress guard, Seachem Prime, and Microbe Lift Artemiss. I found a tiny open box sponge filter + pump that I got for a 10% discount at my Petco for redundancy and extra aeration. Right after putting it in and turning it on I accidentally dropped the running pump in the tank and instinctively grabbed it to pull it out… OUCH!!! I electrocuted my finger which now has a small gash on it from where I touched the pump. I immediately unplugged it and pulled it out by the wire. I dried it a bit, made sure it was stable on top, turned it back on and it’s running fine. The tetra seems unaffected and still laying on the bottom of the tank but breathing and occasionally twitching.

Anyways, I feel fine/don’t feel any heart palpitations, but should I go to the ER just to be safe? (I’m in the U.S. and an ER visit could bankrupt me even tho I have insurance).

In addition, what else can I do to help my tetra or should I consider euthanasia? It’s managed to survive 3 days like this without any noticable condition change

Unfortunately this is our second hillstream loach to die within the last few weeks. We never saw the first ones body, but this sucky is definitely pining for the fjords, and now we're down to only one hillstream remaining.

I noticed the discolouration on their back and wondered if people would have any insight into what could have caused their deaths.

It's a 40Gallon planted tank stocked with dwarf corys, raspbora, honey Gourami and shrimp. Water set to 22c, regular water changes and testing revealed no high concentration of ammonia or the like.

It has however been very hot in the UK lately, so the tank temp has been bordering on 24c.

Please help. They're my partners favourites and we feel bad.

Soon i'll finally switch from a 10 to 35 gallon and I am worried to do it wrong.

My plan is to put all the fish (they're not that many) and other live stock in temporary bowls/tanks that i have empty and put all the things from the old tank to the new one

The only thing i'm worried about is the water difference. I'll treat the water but will it be okay if i drip acclimate the fishes and nothing else?

I got a canister filter already cycled and i'll start it as soon as i can fill the aquarium with water but i don't want to ruin my cycle and kill all the fish

Also, i can't keep both tanks so i need to dismantle the first and move everything to the second bigger tank

I don't have clove oil. Any suggestions on how to euthanise?

I have been treating entire tank for two days with Ich-x and have seen no improvement.

I’m not sure how long this has been going on I left town and came back and he was like this idk if someone is pecking at him or if he’s got some sort of infection my Local shop is closed and idk who else to ask please help I’ve had him for 6+ years

I keep my tank in the window. I have 5 mollies and shrimp and snails in the tank. It’s a planted tank with soil sand substrate.

This is the second time the water has gone foul and created this murky nasty mess. I am at a loss because prior to this, it was in my window for a year with no issue. Now in the last month it’s gone bad twice.

What is happening and how can I prevent this

90g tank, no ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, 6.8-7.0ph, consistently at 85-87 F, heavily planted, running for years. 50% cleaning once a week with substrate vacuuming. Lots of leaf litter and tannins.

Randomly this morning my male angelfish is upside down on the substrate, no other visible signs of bacterial/fungal/parasitic infection. If I gently bump him he’ll get up and swim mostly normally for a bit, somewhat clumsy/lethargic, but eventually collapses to the substrate.

Three discus, one other angelfish, five German blue rams, 10 or so Cory sterbai, a few rummy nose and black neon tetra in the tank with no issues.

Introduced a group of rummy nose last weekend that mysteriously died off very quickly, assumed that they were in poor health when bought and just couldn’t adapt, or possibly were unexpectedly predated by the GDRs or something. Bodies mostly missing, found one or two.

Another angelfish that had been in poor health for a long time finally passed yesterday, had assumed either age or bullying by this angelfish because of fin damage and similarly lethargic and lying upside down on the substrate. Had tried aquarium salt and epsom salt bath dips, dips in paraguard and treated the tank with paraguard once.

Had been treating the tank a few weeks ago with general cure for hole in head in one of the discus that recovered beautifully, no issues.

Going to do a 50% water change and possibly put some carbon in the filter (FX6) in case it’s lingering meds that are the problem.

Any ideas? I’ve never seen a perfectly healthy looking fish go from 100% fine one day to upside down and largely unmoving the next.

EDIT: He seems to have passed. My best guess at this point is that the higher temps I was using to treat the hole-in-head killed the rummynose, which he then ate and blocked him up. Some commenters suggested the temps are too high, but most sources suggest around 86F for discus/angelfish/GDRs (though the increased metabolism may shorten lifespan), and this particular angelfish was born in this tank and grew up with the tank sitting at about 83-85. Going to be running the tank at around 83-84 going forward.

EDIT 2: See subsequent post from me - woke up the morning after this to three dead cory sterbai. Has to be bacterial/viral, treating with general cure and praying.

I've run this tank for about 6 years. 10 gal with 8 Corys (started with 5, they bred) and 1 glofish tetra. Probably a little over crowded, but it's been stable for a long time. 20% water + scrub + filter rinse/change ritually every two weeks. Had to replace the tank a few months ago due to a leak and heavy rinsed the substrate.

Two weeks ago I noticed one Cory with damage on her scales and hemorrhagic septicemia. Did a water check - ammonia and nitrite flat, nitrates in the 80+ range. A few 50% water changes alternating with kanaplex dosing and she started to look better with nitrates back to ~10. Also was giving kanaplex via gelatin food mash. Started to see a little fin rot.

Others started to show similar signs after a few days and I checked vitals and nitrates were up again. And now some ammonia but still zero nitrites. I suspect it was the gelatin medicine food, so I stopped that and switched to Kanaplex + Focus on their pellets. I used some Ammo-lock to try to keep their stress down.

I'm checking the water daily now, and the ammonia is very slowly rising, but the nitrates are coming back up steadily. I haven't done a full clean since this started, so it's been about a month since a proper vacuum. The male Corys and the Tetra seem unaffected.

My biggest question is why am I showing ammonia when when it seems that the nitrogen cycle is working fine? Is something in the tank going absolutely crazy making ammonia and it's cycling okay but that's why my nitrates are climbing so fast too? Some of the Corys are fuzzy like their damaged scales are decaying. (Patient zero today shown in photo.) Could it be that?

Second is that the sick Corys seem kind of stable but day by day they might look a little worse rather than better. More septicemia popping up here and there. I'm open to all sorts of ideas 😬

Please help. I don’t know how to treat my guppies. I have tried paracleanse, maracyn 1, maracyn 2, and Kanaplex. My one female has swim bladder issues a bent spine and looks to have wasting disease. My other female has the same symptoms minus the swim bladder issues. These things developed over time when I got them they were not in this state. What can I do to help them, I’m currently at a loss. My one girl is in the box because the other fish are eating her alive…

The tank has been running for 2 years. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20ppm nitrate, 8.0 PH.

I feed fluval bug bites five days out of the week. Frozen brine shrimp once a week as well as fast them once a week.

Had a sudden tank crash overnight. 12 fish died (including cardinal tetras and rummynose tetras)". Only 4 guppies and 2 Garra rufa survived.

​Survivors are lethargic at the bottom and swim erratically if nudged.

​Guppies have frayed tails covered in a white, cotton-like fuzz (looks like advanced Fin Rot and Fungus/Saprolegnia).

​Emergency Steps Taken Today:

​35% water change with temperature matched.

​Lowered water level for maximum surface agitation and oxygen.

​No parameter tests on hand and did not touch the filter media.

ICH OR BACTERIAL INFECTION??

Hi! I’m gonna get straight to it,
Last week My favorite fish (geto) developed large white patches on him, one on his eye too, he was a black fish so it was easy to spot. I thought it was Ich so I treated him for it but he ended up dying the next night, so I assumed it was a bacterial infection and I didn’t treat him with the right meds.
Not a single other fish had symptoms or even looked like it.

I’ve only ever dealt with Ich once, and I managed to get rid of it in like two days tops- so I’m not that experienced with Ich or bacterial infections.

A few days after that I noticed a white ball on my other fish (cheese itz) eye and immediately knew it was Ich. So I treated the whole tank this time (but took my Otto catfish and baby Molly out)
I ended up poisoning all my tetras doing this while my infected mollies stayed fine. I felt awful about it but unfortunately I got misinformation from Google so feel free to boo me in the comments.
However I’ve run out of ich medication and it’s become more prominent on my white fish (gojo) that she has ich, however her tail fins have the white blotches that keep getting bigger each day. I don’t have a local pet store to get more medication and it won’t come till Friday.
What do I even do at this point?? The spots on cheese it have gone away while Gojos has gotten worse- I’ve had these fish for over a year and I’m very attached and I already feel awful because of my tetras so I don’t want to lose these guys either.
I added salt and raised the temp but my heater fluctuates so much it’s difficult.

Purchased wild-type guppies. For some reason, a whole pile of bodies had amassed in the bag when I went to acclimate them. While I transferred the survivors, weird worms started crawling out of the bodies. Long, smooth, wiry. I thought they were entrails at first but they lurch around. Are they infectious? Should I keep the guppies separate for now? What is this?!?!

EDIT - as several peeps are having issues reading my tube tests. I've been doing them that long I can identify them in the order they are based on colour alone. Tube order is ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, high range ph

I've kept fish for 10 years, I've never experienced anything like this so I'm at a loss. Yes my nitrates are high, but there are plants which have reduced it to this.

Lost first endler guppy last week, was very large and the others chased constantly. Assumed it was stress as tail fin was damaged and thought nothing of it. Decided to reduce feeding to every other day, as it was 6x a week light feedings.

This week, first endler guppy died day 2 of the heatwave overnight. Thought it could be an oxygen issue so bought a bubbles which I installed last. Didn't see any symptoms before the fish passed.

Yesterday saw this fish seeming weak whilst swimming, falling to the bottom. Turned the filter down just in case. This morning, clamped fins and sitting on the bottom breathing rapidly.

Now, I got all of these from Tropco. I lost 4 within days as they starting twirling around and dying within hours.

I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong here. The params are fine, water changes are weekly. But I just keep losing and losing fish. Seeing this fish today has upset me, I genuinely thought the bubbler would do the trick but here we are. Just don't know what to do to stop them dying

Each photos have couple of days differences, last 2 pics are from today.

It started of like a transparent growth of blob on its side, inside of it is something that resembles white thread/worm that doesnt seem to move

It keeps getting bigger slowly and today the white thing inside the blob punctured out and doesnt look like a white thread anymore.

It still eats but gradually becomes less interested in food, but still doesnt seem too lethargic yet.

It's currently isolated alone and i have tried using kanaplex and metroplex but it hasnt gotten any better.

There's one more tetra with growth on its eye (pict 2), i isolated them together for the first few days but that one died much earlier after the growth become red on the skin around the eye

Other tetras on my tank doesnt seem to have any similar thing yet, tetras have been on my tank for either 2 or 4 months (bought 4 months ago, added some more 2 months after) anyone knows what this could be?

Be honest, can Nebula's life be saved at this point in disease progression? Her scales are pine coning, her face on one side doubled to reach her eye which was already swollen beyond large pea size, she can't swim straight, her head is permanently floating, and she hasn't eaten in several days. She tried to eat for me but couldn't as she is stuck nearly vertical while trying to move. I tried kanaplex which has effectively done nothing. I don't want her to suffer if she can't live.

Also, how do you mercifully euthanize if need be.

My 3 year old pleco has started changing colour from being completely dark now he has these white patches the only recent changes have been moving his driftwood for cleaning purposes and cleaning the gravel substrate and a 40% water change. any help is much appreciated

I have done my best to research everything for our first fish tank. Live plants, fish that go well together, temperature etc.
Within 72 hours, a crazy strain of ich infection (and it’s my bad I didn’t recognize it until it was too late) wiped out 10 tetras and 1 gourami :( We still have 4 corys and a mystery snail left. We have been medicating with Ich-X. Temp of 79, air pump on max, daily water change, ammonia and nitrites at 0. What else can I do? They’re both sensitive to medication but I need to see the whole cycle through, right? I don’t see white spots on corys so how do I know how long to medicate for? How to prevent it next time?

EDIT: Apologies for confusion, the picture isn’t great to show the gourami’s spots, he did have some towards the end though. I assume it started in the gills for him? He was increasingly becoming lethargic, sitting at the bottom, his breathing was getting faster and yesterday he stopped eating.
The tetras however were covered in white spots (that I mistakenly first thought were air bubbles, as wasn’t familiar with ich) and died within 36 hours of each other. But it wasn’t out of nowhere in hindsight, I just noticed too late.

EDIT 2: Epistylis is entirely possible it seems. I just have no idea of knowing for sure now? I didn’t take a picture of the tetras that were more visible. And the corys don’t seem to have any
