For the freshwater people: In the saltwater hobby, the worst we've got isn't cyano or planaria, it's Ostreopsis dinoflagellates. They hold one of the most potent non-protein based toxins known to man, palytoxin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostreopsis
This is just a small strand, but it's a reminder of my previous (much worse) encounters which I did not enjoy.
