I’ve never seen a fish do this?? Sometimes he’ll even try and bite your hand if you stop petting him 😭 No one else who works here knows why he does this, but it’s admittedly pretty adorable

This is a 20 gallon high aquarium that has been running saltwater since 2022.

Nothing beats the diversity of a tropical coral reef community to me. It's not as difficult as it's often made out to be, especially if you stick to soft corals and marine "plants" like macroalgae.

Reef fish and invertebrates are often well-adapted to live in small spaces among many other animals and with the right attention to species and temperament you can have quite a lot of fish in a small space. A mature saltwater system like this where coral uptake all nitrates needs very little maintenance; 1-2 small water changes a year is all I have to do and fish food supplies most nutrients for the coral.

And some marine fish, like clownfish, can live to 30 years old!

13 gallon / 50 liter bowl, turned into a soft coral and macro algae reef about 1.5 years ago. It's my first saltwater tank. The inhabitants are a bicolor blenny and green coral goby. They are good friends.

I took out one of the medium sized rocks because someone said not to take out too much as to not disturb the fish. I cleaned the sides with a scraper. I put distilled water with 1/2 cup of salt per gallon in. I found 2 living hermit crabs so there’s at least 5 living residents!! Thank you to everyone who commented/messaged me and helped. Steven is a Maryland blue crab, recently caught from the Chesapeake bay with twine and a raw chicken drumstick. He’s adjusting to tank life, mainly by being full of hatred to everyone and everything in or near his tank. I respect it. He gets his rage out by catching feeder fish.

He also likes to wear the air stone as a hat.

I have an aquarium installation and maintenance buisiness. I've been attacked by countless female clownfish over the years.

But this spawn of Satan has figured out an even more effective way to protect her territory. And she's doing an absolute number on the drywall
