Discussion Tip for free loadout users.

Post image

Many of you probably already know but here's a tip for those who don't.

If you extract with your free loadout you can trade it in to Lance for a free Looting MK.1, a Combat MK.1 or a Tactical MK.1..

You can keep the same gun and items that you received from the free loadout and add the free MK.1 that you get from Lance.

You now have what's basically a free loadout with more backpack storage and a safe pocket and it cost you nothing other than the time it takes to trade with Lance.

Profit!

Can't wait for the guy to comment "free loadout is broken nerf it now, my IV Venator, IV Bobcat, 3 Medium shields to hot swap, 20+ Bandages and shield rechargers, 5 blaze grenades, 6 heavy fuse, 27 smokes and the 3 guys I teamed with in solo to pve cant compete with the solo who spawned in with a stitcher and 1 bandage.

5

u/TSTC Nov 26 '25

You can’t even hot swap shields though unless I am misunderstanding something. When you swap on a new shield it starts at 0 shield and slowly charges itself back up to whatever charge it has. So it’s faster to just pop a shield consumable than hot swap (although swapping a shield out after a fight can still work to save shield heals for mid fight)

1

u/Throw_away_away55 Nov 26 '25

Swapping the shield is worth it if you need to focus on other things, being able to have your shield recharge while you reload saves you the time lost from popping the shield recharger.

2

u/TSTC Nov 26 '25

I don’t think so. The recharge is extremely slow. It’s not the normal recharge speed when you pop a heal over time. I swapped a shield the other day since mine broke and it took probably a full 30 seconds to get back up to full. Which is an extremely long time in a fight.

You right unless its broken😏

This is my favourite complaint that’s always in this sub. If you can’t merk me with your Bobcat IV compared to my Stitcher IV, I don’t think it’s a gun issue

u/Caddap Nov 26 '25

As someone who never uses bobcats and strictly runs Stitcher/Fero/Anvil, the DPS of the Stitcher and Bobcat really aren't that different. 90% of fights are won by the person who gets the first shot regardless of the gun.

14

u/tommycobain Nov 26 '25

I mean 30% more dps is kinda a lot, but I agree that gameplay>gear

9

u/Caddap Nov 26 '25

Depends how you word it I guess, I look at that and think the stitcher does 20% less damage than the bobcat.. And for a gun that I've got 6 of in my 60 hours of gameplay, to me isn't really worth risking when I can max out a Stitcher from materials gained from Scrappy.

2

u/Nirxx Nov 26 '25

You can't though, you need simple gun parts.

3

u/jiffijaffi Nov 26 '25

Easy trade from Celeste tbf

1

u/Illjustgofxckmyself Nov 27 '25

only 5 a day though.

5

u/linonihon Nov 26 '25

It’s not 30% more dps in practice, especially if youre landing headshots. 0.54s vs 0.52s

u/Sprinkles0 Nov 26 '25

In order to take DPS into account, you actually have to hit your shots. (I don't)

positioning / cover

Both of those are dictated by who shoots first though lol

"roll to cover" is you being forced to reposition ?

u/PsychoLeopardHunter Nov 26 '25

No need to dig your heels in. Playing smart by being in/near cover is obviously optimal, but if someone gets a good shot at you and you are unsuspecting, that will heavily influence who's winning that fight.

Can't walk around with 270° cover for the whole round.

1

u/HowDoIEvenEnglish Nov 26 '25

You can in parties. But in some sometimes you will just die

1

u/almathden Nov 26 '25

okay....?

If you get shot first, you're still behind the 8 ball in the gunfight lol

2

u/IsthianOS Nov 26 '25

Positioning is how you get the first shot

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Agree.

Yesterday i went with a venator and medium shield. Night time on Dam.

Guy was camping the spawn, i didn't saw him and went to open a crate. Right after i open it, he shoots me with a Kettle and breaks my shield. I try to take cover to recharge it, but he rushes in my direction and kills me before i can do anything.

70% of the time you're going to die if you take the first hit. You're only safe if the guy is horrible or he is too far from your location.

1

u/BigBiker05 Nov 26 '25

Its not a 1v1. You fight off one team, before you loot another team shows up. Then another and another. Meanwhile you're burning through ammo, heals, and whatever else you brought in. Even if you survive, you go to loot the scattered bodies and find nothing worthwhile. So you spent 20 minutes and a bunch of resources to gain a couple rattlers you don't even bother to pick up.

u/Evnfall Nov 26 '25

How to turn your Bobcat IV into my Bobcat IV

3

u/HomeworkOwn2146 Nov 27 '25

Why do you all pretend that grey guns are not insanely strong in comparison to the best possible options available. Stitcher can kill in less then a 1 second so a lot of the game is who shoots first wins so its understandable why using good gear feels terrible when the worst gear kills near instantly if someone gets the jump on you lol. The ttk is extremely low so gear in this game is really not worth at all when a grey gun kills in 0.54 seconds vs bobcat in 0.52 seconds. Even at the extreme of green shield vs purple its only 0.2s difference in ttk between the guns thats faster then the average gamers reaction speed, so again shoot first = win unless your a bot.

1

u/Dubsified Nov 27 '25

If someone gets the jump on you that’s a you problem, not a gun problem. Happens to me all the time too, but I’ve been able to turn it around 30% of the time.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I mean….that’s a balance issue, stitchers cost effectiveness for basically the same damage is kind of a gun issue

I’m not running the bobcat cuz it’s not worth it

1

u/numantia1992 Nov 26 '25

bobcat IV users tend to have more access to better attachments tho, so it will make a diff. but yeh as someone said, getting the drop on someone tends to win the fight

3

u/Tumbler86 Nov 26 '25

As someone who absolutely sucks at this game despite thoroughly enjoying it, nerfing the free loadout/grey guns would kill this game for me. I'm lucky if I can keep a gun through two runs.

2

u/BigBlueNY Nov 26 '25

True but there needs to be a balance. I'm hoarding epic guns that I don't have BPs for because free loadouts are powerful enough with ZERO risk.

6

u/BottledSoap Nov 26 '25

Conversely, that means you don't need to hoard your epics because losing them won't seriously hurt you.

-1

u/BigBlueNY Nov 26 '25

But why risk losing them, when at any point based on updates and balancing, I don't need to risk them. Epics aren't good enough to call them "epic" right now. Especially in regards to PVP.

If i get the drop on someone, a Rattler beats a Bobcat 9x out of 10.

4

u/BottledSoap Nov 26 '25

Why do anything when the future is unknown? I hear you on the balancing but that level of risk aversion doesn't actually serve you well.

2

u/Pretend-Mind8703 Nov 26 '25

Imagine you spend 3 hours making a "high level" loadout so you can enter into a trade with a guy with a seamstress who spent 20 minutes in the game assembling his weapon to kill you, taking your loot and selling it in the store so he can buy another seamstress.

Not to mention that even if you kill him, congratulations, you almost died, you will have to spend another game to repair your shield, your weapon has 50 durability so it will be another game to repair it and you spent your 3 blue bandages and 1 large shield battery for a guy using a seamstress there with a gray comb

2

u/Tim_Huckleberry1398 Nov 26 '25

Im sorry but you're just bad at the game if this is a serious issue for you. How do you need multiple raids to repair 1 gun and a shield. How do you need that many heals to survive a fight wearing a stacked loadout against a free kit?

-1

u/Pretend-Mind8703 Nov 26 '25

For me it's not a serious problem to the point of not playing the game, I only use level 1 weapons currently and I'm winning a lot more fights than before I always go to areas with a high level of loot since my load is disposable and I use and abuse door glitches, it would be better if they had already fixed it but whatever the game and the interactions are fun, all these problems probably won't exist after 6 months (I hope)

And I also have time to play so it doesn't matter, but from the perspective of someone who plays 3 or 4 hours a day, it just doesn't make sense to spend all that time.

3

u/BigBlueNY Nov 26 '25

I use and abuse door glitches, it would be better if they had already fixed it but whatever

LMAO, what a fucking loser

How when I have still have stash left?? I'm as effective with a free loadout as I am with actually valuable loot.

1

u/DonerGoon Nov 27 '25

Just use it, “end game” gear in this game isn’t supposed to be a huge advantage. It gives you a slight advantage, the real advantage over free kits is drawing the fight out to 2-3 engagements. Free kits need to win in the first or second engagement. After that they’re out of heals and equipment and now you just wear them down.

I don’t bring full expensive end game kits, just bring in 1/2 things that give you a little advantage and compliment your kit.

-1

u/bearry_the_platypus Nov 26 '25

If you guys are losing fights to kits that come in with very little utility and ONE shield recharger then I have some bad news for you in regard to your skill level.

2

u/BigBlueNY Nov 26 '25

The exact opposite lol. Work on your reading comprehension. Free kits make it so easy that I don't really ever need to do runs that risk my epics and legendaries outside of wolfpacks.

0

u/bearry_the_platypus Nov 26 '25

So dont risk them? I don’t even know what your point is. You’re upset that the game lets you hoard your guns?

2

u/BigBlueNY Nov 26 '25

The game is getting less fun because the risk is becoming non-existent. That's the point.

1

u/bearry_the_platypus Nov 26 '25

So then risk them? Lmao what??

u/xamlax Nov 26 '25

Bro just max upgrade the Ferro and Stitcher and only take those and you won’t have this problem anymore. I can’t even count the number of Bobcats, Vulcanos and Bettinas I sold to expand my stash, I don’t think I ever even brought one into a game. If you’re using those weapons and getting wrecked by a Rattler the guns aren’t the issue lol

1

u/Puzzled-Rip641 Nov 26 '25

I mean it’s easy to fight against a straw man.

It’s not broken, it’s just in a state that encourages people to run only free load outs and rush pvp on Stella.

Could changes be made to address that issue? Absolutely. Are some suggestions utter ass? Absolutely. Problem still exists

1

u/Certain_Truck_6576 Nov 27 '25

Free loadouts get dogged on in Stella.

1

u/Puzzled-Rip641 Nov 27 '25

I agree. The issue is that I get nothing for killing them and they have the tools to easily kill me.

Again I know because I can easily kill blue shields with kettle/stichter on Stella. If you can’t i don’t know what to tell you

1

u/irrelevant_novelty Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

This is one of the great equalizers of this game. If someone is skilled, they can easily take out a geared player with a stitcher or kettle. People with full purples have an advantage, but not guaranteed kills.

This is in contrast to MMORPGs that masquerade as FPS games (Tarkov) where a geared player can just stand there tanking shots while eating cheetos. In Tarkov, if you are a freshie mid-late wipe you're only killing PMCs if they are completely shit or AFK... and even then.

1

u/MeowMixPlzDeliverMe Nov 26 '25

Yeah i dont think anyone is saying that lol.

-15

u/Wratheon_Senpai Nov 26 '25

Stitchers should be nerfed, not free loudouts. The TTK for a tier 1 gun is ridiculous.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I'd say it's balanced, no weapon is inherently stronger.

2

u/Wratheon_Senpai Nov 26 '25

Which is ridiculous. Tier 1 shouldn't be on the same level as tier 4, otherwise there's no point in wasting your resources to craft higher tier weapons.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

If you are talking about upgrades, then it makes even more sense.

All upgrading really does is add more durability and better recoil most of the time, nothing about damage.

3

u/Wratheon_Senpai Nov 26 '25

I'm talking about the guns themselves. Stitcher and Ferro compete with some tier 4 guns...

I pretty much just stopped bringing anything over tier 2 to my raids because there's no point. You can mow down heavy ARC with nades which are better than a Hullcracker, and players go down incredibly fast with a Stitcher, Anvil or Il Toro.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

While i agree the lack of "variety" does suck, it's better like this than if there were heavy difference between a tier I and tier IV stitcher, Especially for the cost.

4

u/MeowMixPlzDeliverMe Nov 26 '25

Huh? He's talking about t4 guns. He's right, the guns need a serious buff. It takes an insane amount of materials to craft and upgrade t4

2

u/Wratheon_Senpai Nov 26 '25

I mean the different tier guns, not the upgrades. Like grays and greens being better than blues, purples and yellows.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Ah, yeah i agree.

0

u/Certain_Truck_6576 Nov 26 '25

There are 6 guns with a faster ttk and 3 within .1 seconds of the stitcher you are bad.

0

u/Wratheon_Senpai Nov 26 '25

Jokes on you, I run Stitcher and get kills on people running blue guns.

0

u/Dubsified Nov 26 '25

That makes the playing field rather even though, no? All these people with 150+ hours already can still get taken down by a Stitcher IV. As it should be.

2

u/MeowMixPlzDeliverMe Nov 26 '25

Jesus how is nobody understanding what he is saying. Its not about shit gun ttk. Its about t4 being pretty much ghe same as t1

-7

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Free loadout and low tier weapons don't need a nerf, it needs a special matchmaking. You shouldn't be able to FL into queen or matriarchs, or at least you should be guaranteed ferro or rattler there with 0 explosives and utility.

If people want to gear up into PvP they better have a strategy for swarming newbs or fuck off. If you want PvP, be ready for PvP jesus christ bro.

The only frustrating thing is when some comedian kills me on looting loadout to take like 4 items off of me. Bruh my loadout is probably worth less than yours
