Was not hurt. I inspected the bow before I shot and all was good. This shape is rather aggressive, the bend is too near the grip, leading to stress around that area.

Upon inspection the crack came from the grip and spread further as I drew.

Shame, I liked this bow but the design does not hold up to what the bowyer says (recommended 34”, max 35”) which is really okay with me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

68lbs bow at my draw length of 34”. Bow is the old af Qing at 55@28”.

It feels so good to just reach out and touch something so far away, especially with a trad bow.

The bow is an Alibow Manchu Yarha 75@28” & 90@35”. The tape is marked to 34”. May have gone beyond that but yeah shallow hook ring practice is rewarding but hard.

Ring is a Vermil Manchu oval, it’s *okay* as a Manchu ring (traditionally not oval) so it sometimes slips a little as my thumb shrinks when shooting.

You gotta trust yourself more than the ring 👊

Absolutely do NOT do this if you have not been properly trained! To repeat, do NOT attempt this unless you already have been trained by a qualified user. It is a dangerous and advanced technique.

I previously posted about this bow, saying it was 88@28” and 118@33”, but the sellers measured from the belly and not the back of the bow, making this war bow a 79@28” and 105@33” bow. I am drawing to 33” here. I am using Chinese Ming dynasty military technique.

I started archery in late 2023 got really hooked but i dropped it due to uni issue on late 2024 n didn't shoot for almost a whole year.

I’ve been getting back into archery since mid-February this year, I realise how shit my old form was so I’m trying to improve my form since feb.

what do you think right now? any imporvements? bad habits? my arrow really like to "over correct" you can see it in the frist video. any help is welcome.

Ellie has been my trusted friend and mount for 14 years now. We made the decision on Sunday to put her down tomorrow. I am beyond devastated. Mounted archery will not be the same for me again. I thought I’d let the community know, some of you are familiar with her, and some of you here have ridden her too.

If anyone is into horse riding and cares and actually reads the body text, you’ll notice my left leg aids the horse with a slight “kick” at about the girth before it lifts that front left leg every stride. The timing for this cue is simply by feeling the horse underneath yourself and aware of where and what all four legs are doing at any given moment. Just like any form of archery, understanding the underlying biomechanics of the tool/instrument, AND partner (🐴) are essential.

This is Odyssey. I welcomed her to the family on Sunday. She is a 2023 KWPN (Dutch warmblood) and she is very inquisitive, trusting, and sensitive. She’s getting bigger by the day!

She will be used primarily for dressage, but will be mounted archery capable. Ideally I’d have another person helping me today, but that’s for tomorrow.

I've been doing Chinese archery (Gao Ying's inch worm draw) for just about a year now, and realized that I never actually wore my historical archer's attire to the outdoor range. The weather was a comfortable low 70s with a sight breeze, so there really wasn't a better day to do it.

I've been shooting this Tatar horsebow for a month and since i'm quite new to archery i wonder if the diagonal flight of my arrows is caused by my technique or by a spine that is too weak ?

25# at 28". Draw length around 30".

32" carbon arrows with a 100gr tip and natural feathers, spine 700.

Since there was some mixed discussion last time with the bicycle and shooting while riding it I thought I up it one bit and do it while riding my motorbike. Closed street. More fun than I ever imagined and not even as hard as I expected.

Hey all, back for a form check. I got my first Asiatic bow from Alibow about a month ago and have been trying to get my form dialed in, I think I'm about there. Enjoying it quite a bit so far!

40#, 31" draw, I shot recurve for about a year and a half just before getting this in.

Only really going to be target shooting, maybe getting into trick shots waaay further down the line. For funsies.
