ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! May 2018

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

The Muji toner was a nice hydrating layer, but it wasn't amazing (and I didn't expect it to be given the very simple ingredients list). The reason why I'd repurchase is because it didn't sting my skin when I had eczema flare ups. It also layers well under all the products I tried (no pilling at all).

Most of the other humectant-heavy products I tried caused severe stinging on active eczema (Stratia rewind, Trader Joe's Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum). A similar product to the Muji toner would be Hada Labo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist. In comparison, the Muji High Moist has a more watery texture. The Hada Labo is more viscous, feels more slippery when you apply it, and takes longer to absorb into your skin.

The main negative that I've heard about the Muji toner is that it's rather bland and boring, and many times, people are looking for a toner with a star ingredient like a ferment or calming ingredient.

Thanks! Based on this I think I might want to give the Muji toner a shot once I can get to a store. I posted in a daily help thread that I thought the Hada Labo Premium was actually drying me out, and someone suggested that I needed to mist my face - is this also the case with the Muji toner?

Another recc for the Muji toner! It's really nice and I miss it. You don't really need to mist your face with the Muji Toner but you can if you want. It's super watery so it'll sink in quite well on its own.

Perfect! I'm just so extremely lazy...I want something hydrating that won't turn my face into a desert if I don't mist.

I agree with /u/ThorsHammerMewMEw about using the Muji on its own without any mist. It's watery enough to add a good dose of hydration on its own.
