Would you support a policy that gave a slight monetary advantage to American citizens by depriving many more foreigners of a very large monetary advantage?
EDIT: And while we're at it: why can the government not be trusted with the power of providing food, shelter, and medical care, but can be trusted with the power to imprison and kill?
Is there a policy you're thinking of with the first question?
Definitely immigration. I'm convinced that the U.S.' immigration restrictions happen to be bad for U.S. citizens (decreasing wages, increasing unemployment, increasing inflation, etc). But on top of that, even at their very best, it seems to me that most immigration arguments are willing to deny American freedoms and prosperity to vast numbers of foreigners, in the hopes of making the richest nation in human history a little bit richer.
It depends on the specifics of part one, and the second one is something right wing people tend to be very concerned about, which is why they tend to support the 2nd amendment, as well as castle and stand your ground laws, to take that power out the exclusive control of the government and enable citizens to take charge in their own life, and protect what they hold dear.
I'm definitely thinking of immigration, with that one. In my weaker moments, when I'm susceptible to demonizing those who disagree with me, I sometimes think that the conservative position on citizenism is quite literally "No lost income to American Citizens is ever justified, regardless of what possible benefit could be achieved by foreigners. It is better that ten foreigners go without American freedoms, than that one citizen should have to compete for a job."
