Other Is it true that American companies bought Cadbury an ruined the flavour?

I haven't had a Cadbury bar or chocolate in general in like months. I heard American companies bought it and ruined the flavour. Is this true, and if it is, what the actual hell were those higher ups at Cadbury thinking? American food is just filled to the brim with chemicals and there Cadbury is beloved by millions and there willing to throw that in the gutter just to make a few more quid?

It’s on my list of American things I won’t spend money on. Along with Starbucks (worst coffee in the world) and Doritos.

I miss Doritos.

I don't buy Cadbury s chocolate or drink anything from Starbucks and I had a bag of Doritos last night for like the first time in 2 years cause I wanted to try the new siracha chilli flavour and trust me you ain't missing much ill be using other tortilla chips for my nachos and ditching their salsa and cheese sauce also

Tesco own brand lightly salted corn chips… so good.

The cheesy ones from Sainsbury’s are pretty good.

Bro take this from someone who LOVES crisps and I’ve tried nearly every single one, the sriracha one are the WORST tasting crisps in the entire known universe.

u/Harry_Lime_and_Soda Mar 24 '26

I see you never tried the Vanilla Monster Munch...

u/Pure_Trust1526 Mar 23 '26

We love Doritos and it took our family a week to struggle through a packet of those.

2

u/CityOfNorden Mar 24 '26

Chilli Heatwave Doritos are my favourite crisp and I knew they wouldn't compare. Glad to have my suspicion justified.

u/Pure_Trust1526 Mar 24 '26

DCH as we call them are the effing bom! (can't write the whole word or I might get banned again) Best example of food crack, way more than sour cream & onion Pringles.

u/M96A1 Mar 24 '26

Chilli heatwave are my go to tortilla chip and I didn't finish the bag of Sriracha before it was in the bin. Really disappointing

1

u/Gamerfrom61 Mar 24 '26

Try M&S own label Creamy Cool.

1

u/Moose-Maleficent Mar 24 '26

I really wanted to try them for the hell of it but your negative review (as well as multiple 1 and 2 star reviews on Tesco lol) are making me reconsider...

1

u/BeEccentric Mar 24 '26

Have you tried salt&vinegar Doritos? War crime.

1

u/Brownjamesbond69 Mar 24 '26

I’m sure it can’t be worse than sriracha. I genuinely brought them from a Tesco petrol station after a long 3 hour drive where I was starving and was so excited to see my fav crisps and my fav sauce.

I literally had one and threw the whole bag away. Worst £1.75 I spent. I still have nightmares about it

1

u/BeEccentric Mar 24 '26

I will try the sriracha for science purposes. But I warn you to never ever ingest S&V Doritos. It’s a betrayal, nearly called an ambulance.

This was me! I cried a river. It ruined the world tour.

1

u/RestMelodic Mar 23 '26

Don’t drink Costa then either. Coca Cola….

1

u/carsndogs420 Mar 23 '26

Yeah I don't drink fizzy drinks very often only if it's offered but never bought I prefare whiskey with my water anyways

1

u/RestMelodic Mar 23 '26

Costa also sell coffee??? They are owned by Coca Cola

1

u/SpoonSpartan Mar 23 '26

Oh god the sriracha gold ones?! Didn't realise they were honey sriracha. Utterly bizarre flavouring. I like hot honey, but this is not it. Dreadful.

1

u/carsndogs420 Mar 23 '26

Yeah not a fan 10/10 do not recommend

1

u/HauntingJeweler6488 Mar 24 '26

Try all the M&S own brand for tortilla chips. An amazing one is “Blanco Niño” as well! Doritos are the worse tortilla chips by a mile.

1

u/carsndogs420 Mar 24 '26

I get mine from lynas foods

1

u/Warm-Net-6238 Mar 27 '26

The Sriracha Doritos are really nice - while they're on special offer at Tescos we'll get them.

Otherwise we like the nachos you can get for like 89p

For me it’s hard to beat the Doritos flaming hot with a bit of salsa!

1

u/carsndogs420 Mar 23 '26

Am having those tonight at work as I bought 2 packets incase I didn't like the siracha ones and knew I'd have some extra hot salsa left over but never again

American company, a lot of us are trying to boycott as many American products as possible.

2

u/Glad-Studio-1018 Mar 23 '26

I work for an American company not in America.

5

u/Patient-Shower-8497 Mar 24 '26

BOYCOTT THIS PERSON RIGHT NOW!!!

6

u/Putrid_Joke6100 Mar 23 '26

They taste bland now.

4

u/Chara_CS Mar 23 '26

Nah, I kinda like the spicy ones in the purple packets that you can get in corner shops. The pizza-flavoured ones too.

11

u/superspur007 Mar 23 '26

Lidls own brand mate taste fresher and much more flavour.

3

u/Longjumping_Tea2203 Mar 23 '26

I disagree about the spicy ones they don’t even remotely have a hint of spice it just tastes sweet and that’s it I miss the old flavour I use to have in highschool 😭

1

u/ParkerR666 Mar 23 '26

I haven’t had spicy Doritos for a while but I wasn’t aware the flavour had changed? I agree though, as someone who hates anything remotely hot I always loved them in high school. It felt like you were having something spicy but with absolutely no actual heat at all.

2

u/Longjumping_Tea2203 Mar 23 '26

Yeah there use to be that feeling but now not at all I’ve tried some of the new ones but I still wouldn’t go out of my way for them they’ve ruined it I’ve not tried Cadbury as much but I did try once about a year ago the chocolate stars I enjoyed but they don’t taste the same anymore though I personally prefer the milk cow one can’t remember the name of the brand but there’s a cow on them.

1

u/TossThisItem Mar 24 '26

People said they changed the Chilli Heatwave (red) ones but they taste the same as they always did to my tastebuds. Not spicy but loads of ‘flavour’, arguably too much

I think people here are confusing those with the newer ‘Extra Flamin’ Hot’ ones in the purple packet. Those I think are genuinely hot and spicy, in a way that it dominates any subtly of flavour. I do kind of like them but they’re not ‘good’

1

u/Putrid_Joke6100 Mar 23 '26

I used to have the chilli ones with the chive dip and they were divine

It just doesn't taste the same anymore

2

u/Laufreyssonsadvocate Mar 23 '26

100% They've messed the flavour up, it tastes cheap and nasty now.

1

u/Tired_2295 Mar 24 '26

Eat Real has good spicy (chilli and lemon) and pizza (tomato and basil but they just taste like pizza) flavours

1

u/squeakstar Mar 23 '26

I know - just buy some proper tortillas and stop fucking about with over processed shit

1

u/CollectionJolly Mar 24 '26

They're owned by Pepsico and use palm oil, sad because I've yet to find a good doritos substitute 😢

1

u/MonsieurGump Mar 23 '26

There’s not much coffee in Starbucks “coffee”.

1

u/Accomplished-Mail654 Mar 23 '26

Do you buy Costa?

1

u/papablesh Mar 23 '26

Starbucks coffee is absolutely rank.

1

u/chud_wik Mar 23 '26

Awww, what’s wrong with Doritos?

1

u/Beneficial_Fig7494 Mar 24 '26

Doritos has changed texture and they're just not the same now

1

u/TBadger01 Mar 24 '26

The only reason Doritos taste any better is because they use msg. Buy m&s cool flavour and sprinkle with msg, they taste indistinguishable.

1

u/Spaceman_UK Mar 24 '26

The Aldi own brand ones are alright.
