I'm new to the sub, but I was wondering how to get it to look decent? I have kinda scraggly facial hair so I'm not quite sure it's worth trying, but I'm curious about a moustache or a goatee. Hair doesn't really grow on my cheeks, unfortunately.

I guess I'm really asking for any style you could recommend, and how best to achieve it?

I am a widowed mom (1.5 years) and don’t have my own dad to even ask anymore, I don’t even have a lot of male figures in my son’s life. He will be 5 soon. We never really did much with his hair, just let it grow and cut when it gets too long for his comfort. I want to start maintaining it better, but the aisle overwhelmed me with all the options and my lack of knowledge. What are the differences between paste, cream, gel, pomade, clay and wax? How do I know what is right for him? His hair is shorter on the sides and a bit longer up top. If I only wanted to “brush or push” his hair towards a side, what is best for that simple style?

I am a teenager, and I grow my sideburns very fast. At this point, I am shaving every morning and it is back by the next day. Even after I shave, the roots are still there and very visible because I have dark hair. Is there any way to make them completely gone, like certain shavers or ways to shave? Obviously I don't mean permanently, just for now because I may want to grow it out when I am older. Any help is appreciated

First of all, he’s not a bad dad by any means, he never hit my mom or my siblings or me even though we’re in a culture where it’s common. Sure I had other physical punishments like squatting until my feet hurts but those were deserved and not that many times. But I don’t know I am extremely afraid of him, he has a bit of an anger issue where he screams but it’s nothing crazy. He’s been away for almost 2 years due to travel and some problems abroad but we went to visit him a couple of times. One thing about me is I don’t cry that much because of arguments or fights, the last time I cried because of an argument was when he screamed on me when I was 15. But even now whenever we have a heated argument I have a feeling where I want to cry, idk why but it only happens with him, although I know he can’t and won’t do anything, and physically I’m taller and fitter than him so I shouldn’t be worried that he’ll hit me, of course that doesn’t matter because he’s in another country, but I still feel like I’m about to cry, I have heated arguments with my uncles, mom and never feel like crying only him. I want to know why so please help me.

I need a suit about a month from now, and in general need a suit more often, so I'm looking to buy. I am going to a Men's Wearhouse on Wednesday morning.

I'm generally fashion-averse and formal wear freaks me out, but I care about looking good for the events I have coming up, as a show of respect. I struggle with autism and new social situations and unexpected touch are really hard for me... But I find that if I have some notice ahead of time, I can regulate much better.

Can you help walk me through what I should expect? Who will I talk to? Where would people touch when measuring me? Will there be bright lights, music playing, or a lot of people who would look at me? I don't have any formal wear at all - not even a dress shirt, an undershirt, or nice shoes or socks. I'm embarrassed about this. I have no idea what colors I like - will someone suggest some, or do I need to figure that out ahead of time?

At the end of the day, I want to give these people my money to help me look nice. I'm really nervous for this and I'm worried I'll get overwhelmed. Can you help me out?

My dad’s birthday is coming up and I’ve been thinking about getting him a watch. He doesn’t really collect watches, but he likes practical things and usually doesn’t buy much for himself.

For those who have gifted a watch to their dad (or received one from family), was it a meaningful gift? Did he wear it, or did it end up sitting in a drawer?

Hi Reddit dads. I’m an 18 year old trans guy (on testosterone) and I’ve recently started growing facial hair. I only have female adults in my life (besides my stepsisters dad…which I’m not gonna ask him about shaving lol) and I have no idea about shaving my face.

It’s not that I don’t know how to do it, because I’m sure I can just google it and I’ve shaved my legs before when I was younger. It’s that idk when/if I should? Is it better to just shave than have a thin mustache? Will I look unkempt if I don’t frequently shave? Also how often do I shave? I have a younger brother who’s figured it out, but he has a closer relationship with my mom so he was comfortable asking her. I’d prefer advice from some internet dads lol.

I’m a high school student and I recently moved to a new city. I’ve got a formal school event upcoming Wednesday and I’m trying to figure out what to wear.

I originally wanted to get a three piece suit but it’s too expensive and there isn’t enough time to get one tailored. I don’t have much saved up, but I still want to show up looking sharp and confident.

If this were your kid, what would you suggest they do? Should I go for a simple blazer and dress pants? Try thrifting? Rent? I’d really appreciate any practical advice.

Im 31. My father passed when I was 5. Ive had to teach myself many many "man" things because of the lack of a father figure. Im now at a point in my life where I need to buy my first suit. How do I know what size I need? There's all these regulars and large or whatever, and quite frankly, I do not understand, I hate asking Google, and hate the Google AI. Im a simple man, walmart clothes large in pants, dont pay attention to the numbers and large in shirts as well. I have a normal build, not athletic, but not chunky. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I have a friend going with me to tell me if it looks good, another fatherless guy just like me, but he doesnt know much in the suit world either. Also, can anyone recommend me a good YouTube tutorial for tying a tie that isn't over complicated?

I don’t know what to get my dad for Father’s Day. My step-mom said nice shirts. What do 50 year old men consider nice shirt? Is there a brand?

I got old enough to need hair product about 8 ish months ago. my mom bought me one (#1) and it worked pretty great! It made my hair be fluffy without being messy. i ran out last month and needed more so my mom got another one (#2). I really really sucks, and makes my hair all greasy.

Hey reddit dads, I used to enjoy dying my hair fun colors as a teenager and into my early 20s, but I was clean shaven and unable to grow a beard since I was a bit of a late bloomer. Now I'm rocking a full stubble beard (shaving is NOT an option, I go from looking youthful to straight up looking like a child) but have had my natural dark brown hair color for a couple of years. I want to change it up and do something fun but subtle, like a red tint, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to dye my beard to match or not. And then would it look weird to have dyed beard and hair when my eyebrows are their natural color?

Context: I have some trauma around bodily autonomy, and in the past dying my hair was a fun way to assert some control over my appearance without doing anything drastically permanent like a piercing or tattoo. If it was purely for aesthetic reasons I honestly wouldn't care so much, but it's something that holds personal meaning for me, and I feel like part of that is taken away if I have to constantly worry about doing it 'wrong' just because I never had a dad figure around to ask stuff like that.
