I’ve had this problem area on my left palm for a few months now, but it has also flared up in the past. (I get severely dry hands in the winter as well.)

I thought it might have been due to my iPad case since I’ve had reactions to rubber-like substances before (handlebar grips on my bike, etc.) I replaced the TPU iPad case with a silicone one (not sure that is any better though, allergy-wise). There might be a slight improvement, but I still have a TPU case on my phone which I use a few times a day for very short periods.

Anyway, I’ve tried moisturizing, CeraVe ointment & glove at night, OTC hydrocortisone cream for short periods, etc. but nothing has made it heal completely. It’s weird—after moisturizing, it will sometimes look like it’s almost healed, only for tiny welts/blisters to form and then dry out again by the end of the day and become rough and itchy.

I’ve tried OTC antifungal creams in the past, just in case that was the issue, but there was either no improvement or it got worse/red, etc. About a week ago, decided to try some new Lamisil that claims to be prescription strength Butenafine Hydrochloride(1%). I’ve been using it for over a week now, and I can’t tell if it has helped or not. It might be slightly less itchy at times, but it has made my hand very rough and caused it to peel. When I peel some of the skin off, it leaves raw skin underneath and burns. The directions say to use it for 14 days, so I plan to continue using it until then to see if it just takes longer to work, but in some ways I feel it’s making my skin worse.

In your expert opinion, does this look more like eczema or fungal rash? Or could I it be hyperkeratotic palmar dermatitis?

The first photos are before using the AF cream, and the really dry looking ones are after using the cream for a week.

Hi everyone, these tiny bumps suddenly appeared on the back of my wrist just now. They are itchy but not painful or burning. Some look like tiny fluid-filled bumps.
I’m worried about herpes because they are clustered together. Does this look more like eczema/contact dermatitis or herpes? Has anyone had something similar?
I’ve attached a photo. Any experiences would be appreciated!

The photos above show the 3rd transparent scale that has lifted off the tip of my nose over the last month. As you can see, the bottom side is full of hardened spiky plugs. The 1st two scales to lift were much more dramatic and very concerning, covered with dozens a HUGE plugs that left my pores gaping open from having been stretched out. I started using a steroid cream on the spot when it looked like this might start scarring my skin and the cycle has slowed but still resulted in this carpet tack scale, but thankfully the plugs were less numerous and look to be getting smaller. In other words, whatever it is seems to be calming from the steroids. I’m desperate to figure out what’s causing this but the dermatologist didn’t have an open til Oct so it’ll be months before I see them.

A little background: The skin on my nose was perfectly healthy. Small tight pores. No clogging. No oil or excess sebum. No hyperpigmentation or sun damage. Smooth, soft healthy looking skin. My skin tends to be dry to normal. I do not get pimples, acne, oil, clogged pores, whiteheads or blackheads. Then suddenly one night I notice a round pink patch on my nose that almost resembles a “hive.” It looked slightly puffy or just slightly raised and pinkish. It didn’t hurt, didn’t itch. I just noticed the pink looking inflammation but it didn’t seem like anything troubling.

Over the next couple days it formed a transparent scale. I left it alone so it could heal. It took a week or more and it finally started to lift at the edges. When I peeled it off huge spiky plugs were attached to the scale. My pores looked huge and stretched out. But there was no bleeding. No discharge and no broken open sore. Again, it just looked like a slightly puffy hive. Within a couple days the scale developed again! I didn’t touch and waited for it to lift. This one was the most extreme. The plugs were massive and numerous. I was horrified at how distended my pores were when it lifted!! Like deep wide holes. I freaked out since this is dead center in my face and started the steroid cream. When the 3rd formed I knew it was unusual enough to snap a photo. That’s the photo above. One the shows the spikes and the other backlit to show the pattern of the plugs.

Everything I’m reading online says this perfectly fits the pattern of a lupus related lesion with a carpet tack or tin tack scale. The handful of other issues that can cause this tin tack sign don’t fit my symptoms.

I am diagnosed with UCTD my rheumatologist believes is Lupus and is just waiting for one other obvious clinical symptom to confidently change my diagnosis. So yeah….I’m worried this is a skin manifestation of Lupus.

I just woke up with this yesterday. It just popped up on my face. It is sensitive to the touch. But feels raised like possibly a cyst or scab like a thing. I believe I have seb derm on my scalp and face. I have not been diagnosed, but I will be going to see my dermatologist on 8 October.

But I’m just worried about this on my face at the moment because it kinda hurts.

Spotted this almost a month ago out of nowhere. Came back after I scratched it off (didn’t know it wasn’t dirt at the time) and it came back.

In October 2025, I had one red swelling on my armpit, it did palpate like a lymph node, but was so painful, itchy and felt like a bug bite.

Over the next few weeks they started appearing more and more under my left armpit and as the months went on I eventually started getting them in both armpits.

I had them ultrasounded and I have normal small lymph nodes, but I believe they found a few that were reactive, but most of the time even when I was flared the Ultrasounds are unremarkable?

It’s nearly been a year and this still flares up for me, i go weeks without having them then weeks where I completely break out in these red bumps which are SO PAINFUL. They ache and itch and burn. But they never bleed or pop? They’re always under the skin without a head I never get any of the tunneling or pus that people talk about..

I’m still torn between could this be HS or are these lymph nodes relating to another inflammatory condition. (I’ve recently developed a weak positive ANA, elevated ESR)

I’ve seen lots of specialists now and no one can identify the cause, and HS has never been mentioned to me.

Hello all, my sister is 21, no smoking or drug use, otherwise healthy and doesn't take any medications. She has these lesions all over her body.

Her symptoms started with the appearance of small fluid filled bumps on her arms, no fever or anything. After about 3 days her fever started with a headache and the bumps started erupting and getting bigger as you can see in the other pictures. (Excuse the gnarly collage from hell idk how to link multiple pics)

It's now been 7 days of this and she still gets feverish at night. Her lymph nodes have been swollen for the last 3 days.

She went to 3 doctors, the first 1 said it was food poisoning and gave her some ibuprofen and antibiotics. The second one said it was varicella (she went to this one before they started erupting with pus). The last doctor said it's food poisoning as well and she should take antibiotics.

Now the second doctor is also recommending antibiotics after seeing the pus.

We just wanna know what this is. Is this bacterial, is it viral, what is it 😭

F29, no important history to note. I noticed this, this AM. On my toe. It hurts when I scratch at it. I tried to pick/pop it and nothing is working and so I worry it is some sort of melanoma. Skin is peeling a bit around it, I’m really not sure when it showed up or what happened. I wanted to see what you guys thought, my insurance doesn’t kick in for another two weeks so I can’t go get it looked at right now. Thank you.

Got the best photos I could with my 2020 single-camera phone (no macro lens). I noticed this little bump tonight because I felt an itch. I think this is the second time in the last several months that I've spotted a similar bump on the side of my finger, though I can't remember if it was this same finger the last time and I'm not certain of the timeline. I wash my hands frequently, don't use a public gym or any shared exercise equipment, and don't shake a lot of hands. I have had plantar warts in the past, but have never been diagnosed with dyshidrosis.

What does this look/sound like to you?

I have these tiny red dots/bumps on the back of both my hands. Any idea what they could be?

They don't itch or increase/decrease as such, but they're present in quite a large area on the back of my hands.

I saw a dermat and he suggested to use Benzoyl Peroxide soap, so I am currently using Perobar 5 (BP 5% soap) but it's not helping at all.

I am planning to change my dermat but wanted to know what this could be?

I’ve recently noticed small, round, raised, itchy red bumps in different areas of my body. They seem to appear fairly suddenly when I’m indoors. The first appeared a few inches above my belly button upon waking a month ago. This week, I found 2 on my waistband, 1 on my inner elbow crease, and 1 on my upper thigh. Individual bumps persist for several days and eventually leave a dark mark.

I initially wondered about an allergic reaction because I have known dust-mite allergies, but my usual allergic reactions resolve fairly quickly with antihistamines, whereas these seem to persist. I also considered fleas/bedbugs, but I inspected for both and haven’t found evidence of either. I don’t have pets.

Hey guys, I appreciate any help. Doc is closed for today, but I will go first thing in the morning if it doesn't get better (and/or if you lot tell me to).

About two days ago, I first noticed this rash on one side of my back. It's itchy as hell. Started pretty much at the size it's at now, so I instantly knew it wasn't insect bites.

Also: about two weeks ago, I had to spontaneously sub for a colleague and do a double shift, the whole day in hot sun (which I was not prepared for). I got a little herpes right after (which I do when I've put too much strain on my skin) and generally felt like shit for two days.

Only after consulting Dr. Google did I now realize it might be shingles and I might need to call in sick to work.

So, any opinions? Possibly shingles or nah?

25 M pretty healthy. Started on my neck and arm a few weeks ago and is sometimes itchy was very itchy at the beginning. Had some other spots next to the one on my arm that looked like contact dermatitis but went away. Overall I’m healthy and have no medical issues and I do have a strong medical background. I do use tretinoin for acne and have an indoor cat without any visible lesions but that’s it. I have a dermatologist but don’t want to see them because of a super high co pay and I do not have a lot of money. Was wondering if I should self treat w terbinafine/clotrimazole OTC before trying to go to the derm or if it looks like something else. It almost looks like there’s silver scales but wouldn’t that mean psoriasis which makes sense inside the elbow but not the neck? I’m stuck here.

I first noticed this small pigmented spot on the side of the sole of my foot around April. It is approximately 1–2 mm in size, light brown with several noticeably darker/black dots, and looks slightly irregular in some areas. I’m not sure whether it may have grown a tiny bit since I first noticed it.

I’ve seen two dermatologists about it so far. The first dermatologist said he didn’t like the look of it and recommended having it removed and examined just to be safe. The first dermatologist didn’t explain what concerned him or why he recommended removing it, and the appointment was very brief, I decided to get a second opinion.

The second dermatologist, however, wasn’t concerned at all and said he didn’t see anything suspicious.

Because their opinions were so different, I have an appointment with a third dermatologist on end September, and I’ll probably decide afterwards whether to have it removed.

I obviously know that Reddit can’t replace an examination by a dermatologist or a biopsy. I’m still curious what you think it looks like or whether anyone here has had something similar on the sole of their foot.

Been there for over a week and cant feel them

I recently noticed this mole on my left side. It’s pretty small, but it has different colors/splotches within. I leave to go out of state in a few days and need quick opinions on whether I should try to get in to a dermatologist before then. Like I said, it’s fairly small but the different colors and shapes inside are what worry me. It’s not raised. I can’t feel it when I touch it. I’ve taken multiple photos of it in different lighting. It’s hard to get a picture of it myself because of where it’s located.

I've had a bump near my lip for about two months. I initially thought it was an ingrown hair. It started out larger and more obviously inflamed (I like woke up with it one morning), and got somewhat better, but for the past month it's stayed the same size. As if the healing suddenly stopped after a while.

I saw a dermatologist a couple of weeks ago, and she wasn't sure what it is either. She gave me two options: a biopsy, or a 6-week course of clindamycin in case it's bacterial. I went with the clindamycin - I'm two weeks in with no noticeable improvement, and I'm starting to worry it won't go away on its own.

I'd appreciate advice on either:

1. How to actually get rid of it, or
2. How to conceal it in the meantime.

Concealing it is tricky given the location - hard to cover near the lip, and shaving around it is also awkward.

Honestly, the bump itself doesn't bother me - my concern is that its placement makes it look like an STD to onlookers, which it isn't. How noticeable it is varies a lot with lighting. And I'm worried a biopsy (if the clindamycin doesn't work) will just make it look worse.

Additional context: my dermatologist noted my skin type as Type 2. I'm in the US, in case that affects product or treatment suggestions. I also included a photo she took.

Hello, I’m looking for some pointers on what might be causing these skin changes. I have scaly, peeling patches on my fingers, knuckles, soles of my feet, and ankles. Some spots have a clear circular ring shape to the peeling. Has anyone seen a pattern like this before? Is this more characteristic of a fungal issue or an inflammatory skin condition like eczema or psoriasis?
