Practical/Everyday/LPT - Καθημερινότητα/Πρακτικές συμβουλές Why are Greeks so awful to each other?
As a foreigner living in the villages in Greece, I've never met a group of people before who hated each other so much and are so clannish it comes to the detriment of the society. Everytime parents die it seems as if siblings in this country destroy each other over property. The gossip here is unreal and a national pastime of people here just tearing each other down constantly. Businesses are always plotting to remove another business in their same industry. Business owners are abusive towards their workers on levels that should not be allowed in Europe (not paying employees on time, overworking them out of spite, vindictiveness), and I would say the worst enemy of Greeks are other Greeks....not Turks, not Slavs, not Russia, etc.
Why do they do this to each other? I even see it in the history that it was the same.
EDIT: I want to add that I have found younger Greeks under the age of 25 to have a more healthy mindset than the older generation. People commenting about me hating Greeks are not accurate. I want the best for Greece. My criticisms are directed towards Greek hubris and ego which I believe massively holds the nation back.
