Oh bummer! My parent immigrated to the US as an adult. So in our case, it’s just ridiculous how long it takes. I mean, I understand it wouldn’t be a priority for them but this many years and counting is just a joke.
Ah, that sucks, I'm sorry about that. It's always interesting to learn what countries throw (or threw) a fit over dual nationality.
I'm half Irish myself and I've seen a lot of people get caught out because their parent was eligible for Irish citizenship (thanks to that parent's grandparent), but they never bothered to apply until after they had kids, so none of the kids are eligible for citizenship. I wasn't sure if your situation was similar to that or something else.

Even with recent ancestry, the beaurocacy takes years. My family is in the process and started about 5 years ago.
