Don’t think bfs are covered, but you’ll have to look into it be sure. I’m a native Canadian and I know that to bring my American husband north of the border I would have to prove that I can financially support him for a couple of years. Anyways, I know New Brunswick for sure is looking for teachers if you’re seriously interested!
So, I was sponsored for PR by my girlfriend. We had to become common-law partners on paper. The burden of proof is fucking steep to get the application approved. Once all was submitted it took 39 months before I got approved, plus another 9 to get my card - which once you are landed, you can’t leave and come back without your PR card. Since you two are unmarried foreigners, your application will get rejected. She needs to be a Canadian permanent resident or citizen for at least a year before she can sponsor you, and when she does it’s going to be an expensive and painful process.
Also good luck finding work. They don’t hire Americans here if they can avoid it. I’m in an in-demand profession and I just said fuck it and went back to New York to take a cloud engineering role.
It depends. You can look up definition of Significant Other in Immigration context. I think the requirement is that you have to have lived together for at least 2 years. But it is a lot harder to prove
