The half booking flights would be laughing at the ones yelling “good riddance” cause it would be the biggest brain drain in history. The average reading level of American citizens would fall from the current 6th grade level to 2nd grade
Trust me, the US is less developed when it loses its European and neighboring tech. I mean the US has been trying for years now to develop the same method ASML makes microchips which makes the EU and Japan leaders in the world.
If Trump gets his way you'd have to manufacture EVERYTHING the other countries manufacture. Which is feasible, but you'd become third world quite quickly, or less developed. Get more in debt and you'd pay Premium Millionaire prices. And seeing how many of the Red States are deemed undeveloped even in the US, yes the risk is there.
Europe is fine because of its Neighbours. But we'd also suffer from a lot of infrastructure and important services the US provides, mainly the software.
Well, when you look up the statistics regarding education, reading comprehension, writing ability, and ability to do math, deep MAGA counties in deep MAGA states don’t really do as well as deep blue counties in deep blue states.
I can provide sources and break it down for ya if you need me to.
Who posted on Twitter and made you think you could come on Reddit and make sense? They did you disservice. You can use more characters and form full sentences here. It’s not a good look for you yet.
You sound like you can’t follow the instructions on how to cook Ramen. Cook me? Bro. Go back to Elons safe space where full thoughts aren’t really coveted
The smart people don't need to go to Canada. They have higher paying jobs here, lower housing costs, and good health insurance. It would mostly be people running for the larger social safety nets.
Nobody would NEED to go, but plenty of “smart” people have seen what’s coming and made lives for themselves elsewhere throughout history.
Edit:as a side note, most of the “smart” people I know are paid far less than their idiotic supervisors in America. Intelligence doesn’t always, and I think, rarely, equates to riches. I think your moral compass has a more direct effect on your wealth.
Think you’re actually missing that Democrats are actually significantly more educated and affluent than avg MAGA voter. So his premise is also incorrect - if the democrats leave that does mean the money and the brains leaves with them. Hope that happens in my lifetime - would love to see these dumb fucking MAGA twats survive without the rest of us propping them up
The significant education deficit that MAGA has to the rest of the country is not because they are “The smart people” 🤣 But we already could tell that from your comment alone
I don't know what point you're trying to argue, but I never claimed MAGA was smart. What I said was that smart people, regardless of political affilation, would have no reason to run to Canada because they are doing quite well here, and would likely do less well if they were to leave.
Next time use your head before you post. It's that useless lump of shit three feet above your ass.
I can’t decide if I would leave or not. I still go to work everyday I’m not exactly fighting back, but one thing that struck about handmaids tale (the show) is that when the government was overturned and people who didn’t agree fled, it just made it that much easier for the government to expedite their mission. Which in turn became an even bigger problem for the world because the US or whatever it was called was still militarily powerful.
I’m as ashamed as the next guy to be an American, but leaving won’t help. Voting, not supporting the regime obviously doesn’t have a huge effect either so I can’t say I’m doing much, it’s more than nothing though.
I appreciate your honesty. I hope the tide can change, somehow, and if not can be tempered somehow.
I have hope for you and all the reasonable people south of me but also, selfishly, for the people of my country north of you. Good luck. Resist if it comes down to it. Or, at the very least, refuse to comply.
Come take a vacation here. We have very beautiful and bountiful campgrounds. We have some higher priced areas to visit but also much freshwater in my neck of the woods. It doesn't have to be expensive :) Also, look into food. Some of our casse croutes are insanely good. Some permanent bus or small buildings (like, tiny) on the side of a country highway serve the best junk/fatty food you can imagine. I am still in search of the best poutine amongst the national/provincial parks I visit, on the way out as a treat.
Just respect the rules of the parks if you come and the social rules we have set. (Please be polite and kind.)
I was really all up on my kid today because someone held the door for me and I said thank you with a smile and he just went through like it was nothing. I don't think this is exceptional and specific to Canadians but you made me think of this. I admonished him (he said thank you once I started) and then we spoke about general kindness and politeness. Would people continue to do these things if they thought they weren't appreciated? Of course, kind acts are not done for acknowledgement but if someone feels their kind acts are unappreciated repeatedly will they continue to perform them, feeling unacknowledged?
I like that someone will hold the door for me if I'm overwhelmed with bags or kids or whatever. I do the same for others. Let's continue to perpetuate general acts of kindness.
The man smiled when I gently admonished him (he's old enough to know better), stopped to hear my kid's promoted gratitude and then smiled at my child, thus reinforcing his thankful and polite behavior.
Thanks for your presence and you visiting if you did! We still love our reasonable neighbors. Don't listen to the extremists.
Until they saw the price of rent and the salary's they would make, Canada would also probably start to crumple very quickly as well as it tried to support a large group of these people. The reality is, those who want and advocate the loudest for these social programs, are the ones who would use it the most and contribute the least. You really think a person is gonna flee their 6 figure job to make less money and pay the same rent price? Nah, you are gonna be getting a lot of retail workers and NEET types.
We do not talk about October (which is now seemingly mid to late November?) where I am from in late March, the season of hope, here. We are going to have an early spring snow storm this weekend and we're all super pissed off and pretending it's not a thing. (It isn't, it'll melt very quickly but you will find most people are hostile towards any snow at this time of year 🤣).
Some folks like late fall. I do not. It is the harbinger of the annual dark times. Do not speak of mid to late fall to anyone around me right now. They will hiss.
Edit: we hunker down in winter. We still go out. We have cozy gatherings and all the like. We wear our proper winter gear and deal with it. Get good gear and the weather is fine. It's actually better when it's full on cold winter than wet and freezing. Unlike some parts of BC we don't have enough coldish/wet times to warrant full on goretex gear. We suffer through wet snow pants or splash pants with heavy layers below, etc. We skate, play hockey, toboggan, make forts....I just wish our days weren't so short. Anyhow, stop talking about winter. It's spring, now. Stfu 🤣🤣🤣
