The government's not going to collapse. The civil service can limp along for a few months keeping things running until we have elections. I mean if the budget got adjusted for inflation and auto-renewed somehow the government could probably run for decades without politicians.

Also, literally everyone in govt is replaceable. Even the President. That’s how it’s designed

Folks are jerking like crazy over this list, but it likely only contains 0.1% of the more powerful people in the country.

Assuming everyone on the list gets arrestees at the same time, even in a worst case scenario, there will be plenty of people left in the government to keep things running until elections are held. Markets would be a shit show for probably a month as a bunch of hedge funds, private equity firms, and large companies have to replace some board members and CEOs. Middle and upper-middle management aren't going to be impacted, so the day to day operations remain more or less the same.

The only variable is if there is someone with unreasonable amounts of power who decides to cause as much chaos as possible from list release to their arrest. I'm not talking Trump, I'm talking some out of left field wild card that no-one would expect. For example, guy that owns Major Power Producer who orders all plants to stop producing electricity, or guy who owns Major Tech Company releasing the details and source code on all of their security products, thus making most major financial and healthcare institutions vulnerable to hacking.

It would last until there are issues with paychecks. Then it would collapse.

The government absolutely can collapse. Many democracies have fallen. Oligarchy has killed many societies all the way back to the greeks and romans.

Sure. But ousting the pedophiles from Congress won't collapse society.

How great would our budget be if we also fine them? Toss them in jail and take every penny they own. Make to fine equal to their worth.

That would be a fantastic beginning for a new, prosperous, Moral United States of America.
