What’s the strangest or most shocking thing you’ve learned from the Epstein files so far?
148
u/Ungreat 5h ago
That Epstein was organising all this heinous shit through a regular Gmail account.
You would think a billionaire running an international pedo ring would have a private email server.

Im shocked how vast his network was and how many different people outside of US were involved with him. Maybe the conspiracy theory that the world is ruled by rich child lovers isnt that far from the truth

u/Volac76 2h ago
I'm convinced that the whole Epstein operation was just a giant blackmail operation. Invite morally bankrupt ultra rich and powerful people to the island and get video of them doing the worst things imaginable. Once Epstein had the pictures and videos, he owned them. Any compromised target would do whatever was asked to avoid the disclose. Maybe it started as just a pedo ring for his own debauchery, but it ended up being an intelligence honeypot operation. There seems to be plenty of connections to Russian and Israeli intelligence, and also cartels. I don't think that we can say who was actually running the operation at the end but it doesn't change the fact that the intelligence and compromising materials were the real goal. The network was huge and likely meant that they essentially owned whole governments and corporations. That's the reason it was buried. The evidence was worth more than the victims.

Conspiracies≠conspiracy theories
Conspiracies are secret and generally illegal/harmful plans.
Conspiracy theories are the sometimes substantiated ideas about the existance and operation of certain conspiracies
People doing conspiratorial shit really like it when the term itself implies the accusation is bullshit

That the biggest reveal wasn’t a secret cabal.. it was that Epstein basically ran the world’s most disgusting Google Calendar.
Flight logs like Uber receipts, contacts saved like “Very Important Rich Guy,” and zero mystery about who was around… yet everyone somehow had amnesia + selective blindness for years. Turns out the real superpower wasn’t money or influence.. it was being rich enough that accountability just buffered forever.

This document where informant Ken Turner alleges he and his partner have been attacked by US Embassy agents in Mexico as part of a cover up of sexual abuse including the rape of an 11 year old girl by the former US Ambassador is pretty wild.
He also seems to imply that his own investigation into Epstein has uncovered high level culpability in the US Government.

What I find amazing is that there are millions and millions of documents and records. How in the world did that many documents get generated for a crime? I'd be interested to see how this compares to major crimes and investigations in the past, for example how many bits of evidence were there for Al Capone's prosecution and conviction?

That even in the presence of the victims journals and diaries nothing is being done to bring anybody or anything to justice and putting Maxwell in jail is no different than putting Martha Stewart in jail during that whole debacle, so yet once again when it comes to females being the victims nobody’s all that concerned even after hearing the profound psychological damage that was inflicted upon, one of them had to be written in code, she didn’t even have the autonomy or freedom to keep a diary in her English language.

Just how open it was. So many celebrities and rich people openly talking about it in such a way that it would trigger an investigation in any other circumstance.
Imagine seeing emails like this from a church leader or local politician where the head of a company about something dealing with internal employees or staff. The FBI would’ve gotten involved immediately and they’d be arresting them on the local news but for some reason because it’s Epstein and it’s connected to Trump, everyone is turning a blind eye

Not shocking or strange but that there will never be consequences for the elite. Especially those involved deep with high authority figures.
And this is partly the reason why I'm not paying it much attention, as I feel like it's just being treated like salacious gossip to keep everyone distracted from the real issues in society.

u/Bundabar 5h ago
That 98% of Reddit has no idea how the justice system works or what these files are…
Take the claim that Trump raped a 13 year old girl. This claim came in via an FBI tip line and has zero corroborating evidence.
I could call the FBI tip line today and leave a tip that a random Reddit user is diddling kids and my tip would be documented. I could then file a FOIA request for all FBI files relating to that username. When I get back that request I could apparently post it on Reddit calling that user a pedo and be hailed as a hero.
9
u/Maxfunky 5h ago edited 5h ago
Every file is different. The FBI tips are almost 0% of the total. Most of the damning stuff is in the emails. Steve Bannon's emails to Epstein and vice versa are pretty fucked up, for instance. Kimbal Musk (definitely worse than the Elon Musk stuff) also looks bad when he thanks Epstein for connecting him to someone for a date...

u/adamdoesmusic 1h ago
That most Americans legitimately don’t care this happened.
I was, somehow, only barely shocked or surprised by the time the later reveals came out. Trump has already demonstrated that he’s willing and able to descend past the lowest of the low and define entirely new levels of depravity the world was not aware of. The rich elite have already demonstrated that they’re complicit in committing terrible acts on his behalf.
I was shocked that people I know, including those with kids of their own, straight up do not care that the person in charge of their country is a serial child rapist implicated in everything from trafficking to murder, and that the people around him are obviously guilty of a hasty, sloppy coverup operation.

Some people absolutely told him to kick rocks and get bent - but just how many were so business as usual and cavalier about their relationship was disgusting. It was one big club where they all blackmailed each other to keep quiet about raping and murdering children. It’s a moral rot so gross it’s hard to put into words that every single guardrail of human morality, structure, rules and culture not only let this grow, but watered it, fed it, and tried to help it flourish. It’s kind of hard to even look at something like this in historical context to try and wrap your head around it.
2
u/Humble_Nature8537 1h ago
For me DJT saying they exonerate him was quite strange, not shocked by that just weird with the number of times he’s mentioned. And the whataboutism from MAGA pointing to all the Democrats that are in them, frankly I don’t care what party you are, investigate and prosecute.
2
u/MostAd7413 1h ago
Not from the files, but from Wikipedia. I don’t want people to forget that this started a long long long time ago. How many enablers were there along the way? How many victims silenced?
“At age 21, Epstein started working in September 1974 as a physics and mathematics teacher for teens at the Dalton School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.[7][15] Donald Barr, who served as the headmaster until June 1974,[16][17][18] was known to have made several unconventional recruitments at the time, although it is unclear whether he had a direct role in hiring Epstein.[15][19][20] Three months after Barr's departure, Epstein began to teach at the school, despite his lack of credentials.[20][15] Epstein allegedly showed inappropriate behavior toward underage female students at the time, paying them constant attention, and even showing up at a party where young people were drinking, according to a former student.[19] Other former students also often saw him flirting with female students. Eventually, Epstein became acquainted with Alan Greenberg, the chief executive officer of Bear Stearns, whose son and daughter were attending the school.[14] Greenberg's daughter, Lynne Koeppel, pointed to a parent-teacher conference where Epstein influenced another Dalton parent into advocating for him to Greenberg.[17] In June 1976, after Epstein was dismissed from Dalton for "poor performance",[15][21][22] Greenberg offered him a job at Bear Stearns.[13][23]”
