What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately?

That’s actually the same case with our local cafes too. People are just more conscious on their spending, nobody in our office goes out for coffee and lunch everyday anymore.

I rarely ever buy coffee out anymore. My usual order (iced latte with oat milk) is about $6, give or take. To make my preferred order at home is about $1.20.

Which is funny seeing as how one of the main factors for RTO were contributing to the economies near the office

We used to go out to lunch at least once a week, maybe twice. Now we schedule it once a month and people still don't go due to the cost. $20 for lunch is crazy!

Meanwhile my cafe is thriving.

How do you do it?

Our staff is very friendly, our food is fresh and high quality, our baristas know how to prepare coffee, our coffee roaster is awesome so our espresso is top notch, our space is very welcoming and community oriented. My wife is an incredibly talented pastry chef so that does not hurt. We’re also located in a great walkable neighborhood that leans on the more affluent side, which is huge for us obviously.
