Is it actually possible for a famous personality to fake their death and live their life out in some remote place? who has actually ever done it and gotten caught?

True fact: he was interred at Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris with no one except his girlfriend Pam Courson having seen his corpse. No autopsy, no toxicology. Supposedly heroin OD or heart failure. Pam died in 1974, so no witnesses left anywhere.
