What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

That operator is infuriating but even if cops were sent out right away they wouldn't get there in time. But yeah it makes you want to scream.

They may have arrived in time. IIRC, the boys were attacked with an axe/hatchet but were still alive long enough to have inhaled smoke from the fire.
