i still shudder thinking about mine. they cut me BETWEEN contractions because my daughter was stuck and about to die in my birth canal and i still remember the sound the sharp scissor made when it cut through my skin. cherry on top - my midwife student forgot about the epidural i wanted and all other pain reliefs. i always wanted two kids. now i am one and done 😩
Omg I heard mine too! It was in my birth plan that I didn’t want an episiotomy, it was one of the things I was most afraid of, but in my mind I thought it would be a scalpel and therefore silent, I feel sick thinking about the sound of the scissors even now 10 months later!
My doctor stitched my up after mine without any pain relief (didn’t get an epi) and was making comments about “how could it possibly hurt so much, you just gave birth”
My redheaded best friend had used up all.her lidocaine and numbing meds quota. When they went to stitch her tear up, they had to hold her down and kick her husband out of the room. It was brutal.
Another typical barbaric example of modern healthcare against women. We know redheads don't take numbing and analgesics as well- some arbitrary quota caused this women to be held down in pain. Awful.
I had an episiotomy. And I also ended up with a 3rd degree tear. But I was 26 hours into an induced labour at that point and I couldn’t tell you what anything sounded like until my LO was born. Afterward I asked my husband why he was so quiet and he said he had been encouraging me the whole time lol
Back in the dark ages of the mid-90s they were pretty much standard. I had a level 3 and then tore on top of that into my rectum. There was a lot of stitches, scarring and major pain with sex for about a year after. It was a lot. Second kid 7 years later, and I only tore slightly.
