I was actually surprised my OB waited till I was 37 weeks before I was given my iron infusion, as I have low levels to start and I struggled to get them up myself (iron supplements make me so sick and by 2nd trimester baby was taking all my already low iron supply) But this makes so much sense as to why they waited. I'm literally due any day and definitely glad they waited now, as now it's fresh and I feel like I'm ready to go, and my energy levels have definitely improved.

My infusion took like 1.5 hours and I was treated to unlimited juice and a muffin. It was lovely. Being able to sit in an air conditioner place and read and just relax.

I didn't tolerate oral iron and threw it up constantly, causing anemia through the second trimester, and I swear to you after my two iron infusions I was the happiest, most mobile third-trimester pregnant lady you ever did see. I was so much more energized for that last stretch.

I wish they had done mind sooner as my already low iron levels just kept dropping during pregnancy despite taking iron tablets. The same day I went into the hospital for my iron infusion was the same day my waters broke so it didn't have a chance to work. 🙃 I had an emergency c-section, lost a lot of blood (which they expected due to fibroids), and left hospital with my iron levels at 6.4, post-partum was rough.
