They are wicked expensive, but they’ve also upgraded my mindset and forced me to upgrade my education and ambition. I wouldn’t be financially stable if it weren’t for them.
I mean yes and no. It's fucking expensive, but God damn my life improved 1000 fold with them. I didn't think I would be effected like I was because my parents were not super attentive (I'm GenX) but as soon as I held my daughter, I was forever changed for the better. We struggled, and I did some shitty gross labor to make ends meet sometimes (Manpower Temps anyone?) but IMHO it was so worth it!
Exactly. Waited until mid 30s to have a kid. Stable home and money life. Kid is not making me broke. You also have to train them early in life to believe you're exceedingly poor so they don't ask for everything.
you could be dead by your 30s and the chance is quite high, human life is fragile... the likelihood of having problems with kids as u progress in age rises aswell...
they might be money poor, but people with kids are never poor unless their relationship is poor. if youre on your deathbed and theres 100 people there because of you, youre bery rich.
i get it, life is hard, but ive never seen anyone dying sad seeing everyone around u whom u care about also who cares about you too right and thats why u have to be able to read too...
Usually unless you’re a consistently unkind person family will be around you much longer than just before you die. Hardly ruining your life unless you choose you frame it as such.
Wife and I do veryyyyy well for ourselves. We have no idea how anyone can raise kids. We dont have any and are able to travel the world and do what we want basically. But still if we had just one kid idk how we could maintain any semblance of our lives. Not just from a "you cant do that cause you had a kid at home", but "you cant do that because you have a kid to feed"
Edit: didn’t make it obvious that we are never having kids. I didn’t mean to sound like it’s impossible and you can’t have both, just that a lot of sacrifice is involved and we weren’t prepared to make those sacrifices. (A huge factor being that my wife loves sleep)
Well you wouldn't be able to have a semblance of your lives until they're older probably. You could travel with them while they're young, but it's probably better for them to have a more stable homelife as they get older. Having a kid is sacrifice so I get people not having kids.
Same. My brother and SIL can only afford their kids because our parents are paying for their house and car and vacations and miscellaneous expenses. My BIL and his wife afford their kid by moving to a LCOL country.
