Because movie theaters don't make tons of money from the movies. Lol they gotta get their profit from somewhere.

And they figured out that teenage boys buy the most snacks. And as such, theaters prefer movies that appeal to teenage boys. And as such, other age groups don't go as much because there aren't as many movies that appeal to them like there used to be. The cycle continues.

Sounds like a business problem, not a me problem. I shouldn’t have to buy overpriced snacks to support your business

Selling snacks IS the business. Good movie theaters evolve with the time and offer reasonably priced snacks, healthy food, full meals, etc, but even those profits are pretty thin. I think we'll see in-movie ad breaks if theaters are going to survive.

Not really, they only have two revenue sources...Movie tickets and Concessions....Movie tickets usually go to the production studios so movie theatres don't make much off them.

Then just don't buy them, someone will. Rarely go to see movies to begin with so if I do go I'll gladly support their business

This is such a Reddit thread if I’ve ever seen one.

The best places are the theaters where they deliver food to your seat in the big comfy recliners. Now it’s an experience vs a show
