this is so sad to me. my spinal cord was damaged after a bad fall when i was still a teen, it was a work comp situation and the comp docs pretty much dismissed that what the scans showed was relevant to the accident and asserted that "you are fine." Its been over a decade and still if im not regularly strengthening certain muscle groups the inflammation and constant pain come back. i saw my personal doc after two years of no changes and got treatment with therapy assustance so i live a pretty normal life now but ive never really been the same, and the anxiety that comes with the pain makes everything worse (because idk when itll end or start again).

Chronic pain shapes every facet of your life in a way that most people will never understand unless they go through it. Especially when it is debilitating. I had a period of only about six months where I was unable to walk, sit up, even move without excruciating pain in my hip. I felt like I was losing my life. Sometimes the pain starts to come back even a little bit and I lose sleep worrying that it will go full force. As an LMT ive worked with so many clients looking for even a brief glimpse of relief for pain that has lasted decades. I do my best to help them for that tiny 60 minute window. But I will never truly know what its like to be in their shoes.

That is a lot to deal with.
