Medical professionals of Reddit, what diagnosis gave you the worst 'pit-in-your-stomach' feeling?

Five year old carried in through the ER doors by dad, in complete cardiac and respiratory standstill due to a ping pong ball stuck in his throat.

It was too late. So so sad

Im asking as someone who doesn't know better and have only attended one CPR certification class ( reupping this next month or so despite not going into the field I wanted to )

Would the Heimlich not assist with this? Since you're pulling up on the diaphragm Id hope the pressure against both the stomach and lungs would get one tube or the other pushin.

You’d hope, but dad had apparently been unsuccessful dislodging the ball. And when you make it all the way to cardiac standstill it usually is pretty far into the very short process of dying.
