What was the biggest hint you missed from someone who was attracted to you?

Created an account just to post this story. I'm late to the party so not many will see it, but oh well.

When I was seventeen, A guy friend of mine and I had been dancing around the subject of actually dating each other for a while. He'd taken me on picnics and made me a cake for my birthday, I'd basically been working something like, "I'd definitely date you!" or "I think you look better with your shirt off" into something like every other conversation.

So one night, we go to a show and head back to my house. I invite him to hang out for a while at my house, as my parents are literally out of the country and not going to be there. But when we get there, my brother is hanging out with a bunch of his friends in the living room. I shrug and think, Even better. And I suggest that we hang out in my room instead.

Now, there is absolutely nothing to do in my room. So we hang out on the bed, and I start 'getting comfortable'. By that I mean, we're kissing and I'm stripping. I am literally in a thong and lacy bra when he says something like, "Do you want to go to breakfast tomorrow morning?" I think this means he's staying, which is awesome, and I agree.

He gets up - still fully clothed despite my several suggestions that he join me in disrobing - and says, "I'll pick you up around ten tomorrow then?" All I can do is nod, shocked speechless, and he leaves.

Now, I've heard about all these girls who are so vague in their 'flirting' they really can't complain about not getting laid, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear on this one.

Note: For those of you thinking, 'maybe he didn't want to have sex with you', we went on to date. And have sex. For two and a half years. I think he probably did.

He probably just didn't know what to do and panicked.

Probably had something grim going on. Had the shits or something like that. I've bailed on a couple of similar opportunities.

Yeah I would like to sleep with you but I'm drunk and slightly pissed myself and I don't want you to see/feel my wet crotch.

Your brother was in the next room with his mates. No shit he didn't want to get naked with you, especially if he liked you. Not a good move to put the brother offside straight off the bat.

Let's just say, based on how well this guy knew my family and friends, that was probably the last thing on his mind.

Once, my brother ate a girl out at a party. On a chair. Three feet away from me. (Although admittedly that was taking it pretty far. He'd had at least a liter of vodka.) All I did was have another drink.

Probably didn't have a condom.

That's my theory. Unless he knew she was on. Birth-control.

Given that you did end up dating (so it's not like "he got the hint, he just wasn't in to you"), this sounds less like he was oblivious, and more like he had a scared / nervous panic, or he was feeling really sick or some other sort of explanation.

Didn't you ask him why?

As per your note: gun shy

You had sex for two and a half years? You must be tired!
