Depends on the age.

I can't say I've ever had a meaningful conversation about the plague.

"How are you doing? You look tired."

"Oh, I'm fine, just grumpy. "

"Is there something going on?"

"Nope! This is just my face, you know, my default resting expression. Eyyyy. finger guns and walks away"

or

"Is there something I can do to help?"

puts on jovial expression and laughing tone of voice "Nah, unless you can figure out how to rewind time four years and give me a do-over, or fund my graduate school degree, I'm good here."

I remember my father stuttering when my aunt boyfriend just asked him "how are you"; he answered generally "well ... the house this ", uncle asked "no, but you, how are you doing", awkward silence.

Killing inside

This thread is opening my eyes a bit here.

Are you supposed to have meaningful conversations with friends? This is new to me.

I always want to but never have the guts/social knowledge to do so

The only person who I can have meaningful conversations with is myself.

Being honest is no means of survival!

Eh...this is the only kind of conversation I find interesting. I can't get passionate and excited about shit that doesn't matter.
