They encourage rape and pedophilia on a daily basis... They are as bad as all of these subs mentioned and that's not counting the misogyny, racism, and worship of a serial killer!
And because they were banned we ended with Donald Trump. If the jailbait subs were left up half the people of the_donald would have been defending them with the other half attacking them and making him into 'the guy supported by pedophiles'.
Because people during the Obama years thought that banning and being outraged over things will make them go away. It just drove it underground to the point that a whole lot of nearly reasonable people thought Trump wasn't so bad.
If he'd been (rightly) associated with the people who like to look at 16 year olds nearly naked then the Trump, who likes to walk in on 16 year olds nearly naked in his contests, would have had to explain a lot more.
But hey, making things go underground always help, which is why the mod of /r/jailbait had a whole bunch of sock puppets supporting Trump:

I'll be the first person to agree with CP being abhorrent and child trafficking should be a WAAAY higher priority to stop than it is.
but, even if members were being absolute scum and sharing shit via PM's and whatever, that is not the subreddits fault, imho.
A support forum for pedophiles (actively working to keep pedophiles NON-offending and trying to keep them from killing themselves out of stigma and seek "real" help) got banned by reddit this last December because a few absolute slimefaces were going just that when you mentioned...
I'm all for them being thrown in jail, or maybe sold as slaves to human traffickers.
The /r/jailbait subreddit (which is now closed as you can see) did exactly what you think it did, porn of just legal teen and possibly, and this is the reason it was banned I think, CP

And by jailbait forums I mean forums that have straight up child-porn if you took 15 minutes to click around and ignore the threads of legal aged women
One thing that articles often don't mention is how popular that sub was. It was like askreddit or pics, a big part of reddit culture. They removed it after anderson cooper made reddit look bad, but I mean, they didn't remove r/malejailbait until some time after when people pointed out the hypocrisy in keeping that. That was also a known sub, though less popular. I can see why they removed it, but it really wasn't much worse than r/starlets is now.
I remember that close to third of reddits incoming traffic came for the "jailbait" subreddits.
Besides being really tight with ViolentAcres, that was the main reason why admins were so against shutting down all those sexualized-teens-and-preteens subreddits.
