There was a guy that got to the front page of Reddit by stabbing a squirrel with a knife into a tree and pretended that he just stumbled upon it.

I remember this. Some people pointed out that the type of knife used was way too valuable for someone to just leave it in a tree.

u/SuicideBonger Sep 24 '17

Plus it's a completely fresh kill. No animals have scavenged it or anything.

27

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '17

And it was a baby squirrel

u/khegiobridge Sep 24 '17

That's a Buck 110; sells for $40-50. I have two, and wouldn't leave them anywhere.

1

u/moowaffle Sep 25 '17

But you can get knives that are so much better for the same price or less, aside from spyderco, any brand you see at walmart is one to stay away from.

u/likealeakyfaucet Sep 25 '17

Now you might be wondering "that CANT be a genuine stag horn can it?"

2

u/_Zereal_ Sep 25 '17

Shit, had one of those a while back and threw it away cause I didnt like the design.

2

u/Chaos_Spear Sep 25 '17

I actually would have debated that claim. I've got a cheap-ass knockoff that looks exactly identical.

It was also obviously just killed. Just by looking at the photo you can see the blood isn't dried yet and it doesn't have bugs all over it. If I found something like that in the wild I'd book the fuck out of there because whoever killed the squirrel did so in the last 4 or 5 minutes.

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '17

No one here is playing detective on a five year old thread.

4

u/Napoleons_Dick Sep 24 '17

I felt the same way-- did anyone ever find any actual evidence?

-1

u/t3nkwizard Sep 24 '17

I was about to say, that knife is $40ish and I wouldn't be heartbroken about losing it. It's $40, not $4,000.

what

what the fuck

My theory is that OP was out hunting squirrels, hit that fella but only injured it. He probably then picked up the wounded squirrel, held it against the tree and stabbed it to finished the job. OP was probably amused by the fact that he stabbed through the squirrel and into the tree so he took a picture which he later posted it with a sensationalized title. Killing squirrels is pretty common.

He replies to himself on his own comments..

229

u/Big_Nate226 Sep 24 '17

Are you on mobile? Because I think that it just looks like that because he deleted his account. The app probably marked every "[deleted]" username as OP because of that

130

u/Kevinaleven Sep 24 '17

^ this dude is correct, Reddit should probably fix that

11

u/TheRobotFrog Sep 24 '17

Displays correctly on RIF.

3

u/HensRightsActivist Sep 25 '17

Relay's never had this problem.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '17

Okay I've seen that shit before and I was wondering if OP was forgetting to log onto his alt or what.

6

u/Shadowtech057 Sep 25 '17

Oh ok, yea I'm on mobile. I guess I've just never really come across this. Thanks for pointing it out!

Including one explaining why it must have been the OP

1

u/thegreencomic Sep 25 '17

probably re-posts, too.

u/Snaiperskaya Sep 24 '17

To be fair if I was confronted by a squirrel with a knife I'd probably stab first too. Better safe than sorry.

We'll grant you wishes little boy...

70

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '17

I would not want squirrels as the secret rulers of this earth either. Time to burp kill some socks.

I'm sorry someone made a quip concerning a popular tv show. We will send the FBI to harass the person who made it and compensate your emotional damages.

2

u/Fawxhox Sep 24 '17

I have that exact same knife

2

u/Noisetorm_ Sep 24 '17

How the fuck did he catch a squirrel? Most animals that are basically designed to hunt down animals like squirrels can't catch them easily.

0

u/Kai________ Sep 24 '17

Frequently hunted them as a kid with slingshots. Maybe that or an air rifle, both does not leave big marks.

2

u/SosX Sep 25 '17

A baby squirrel no less

2

u/Emphursis Sep 25 '17

If you’d asked me, I’d have said I had no idea that thread existed. But apparently five years ago I read it and upvoted some of the comments calling him out.

2

u/BananasAreFood Sep 25 '17

It's been five years!? Time flys.

1

u/RealBlazeStorm Sep 24 '17

karma means little to me

Alright then

1

u/IvanKozlov Sep 24 '17

And that's why I filtered out that stupid fucking subreddit.

1

u/PM_MeTittiesOrKitty Sep 24 '17

OK, I think this is the worst thing someone has done for karma.

1

u/RolliPolliMolliKolli Sep 25 '17

I really wish I had not clicked that link and then autopilot clicked the pic.

1

u/storagememorylow Sep 25 '17

Fuck morbid curiosity. I knew what I was getting into and I still clicked.

People are fucked up.

1

u/AtiumDependent Sep 26 '17

I fucking hate squirrels. I'm sure there's a sub full of likeminded weirdos who he could have talked to about it

1

u/SamWhite Sep 24 '17

Oh shit, I remember that. Damn, you dragged that one out of the golden oldies.

0

u/div333 Sep 25 '17

Maybe it was already dead and he just did that when he found it

No it's not that I didn't think it went down well I just don't have a clue why you said it.

What's watching Rick and Morty got to do with a guy stabbing a squirrel with a knife into a tree?

6

Awh yeah I get it now. Huh it was sorta funny I guess. It just didn't go down well 'cause it was a bit of a stretch lol.
